When this movie first came out it was very diverse from all the other superhero or Marvel movies that were made before it. Peter Parker was a nerdy overwhelmed teen, unlike all the other superheroes that were billionaires or geniuses. The origin story of Peter Parker and how he became spider man is one of the most captivating moments of the movie and very different than the other superheros, as well as the death of uncle Ben, which left very few dry eyes in the theater. This movie was something new that hadn’t been seen that often before, which is why it made 821.7 million dollars in box office, making the most of the 3 series.

Steven Universe is an American animated show on Cartoon Network created by Rebecca Sugar and aired in November of 2013. The show is an action-packed coming-of-age story about Steven Quartz Universe, a 14-year-old half human, half-Gem boy and his adventures with the Crystal Gems; Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. While the plot itself is a simple “save the world while learning new powers” cliché, fans crave more to the lore and relationships that are shown in the show. From Steve making new friends to Garnet being the literal embodiment of a romantic relationship; I believe that Steven Universe is challenging the social roles and expectations; and as a fan of the show, I don’t believe that it gets enough recognition for it.
The themes in Avatar reflect the greatest challenges of our modern world, and the message of Avatar is both deeply moving and highly relevant to the future of human civilization. Not many who view Avatar will understand all this, of course. To the younger crowd, Avatar is simply a cool action-adventure film with a compelling love story that makes it a great date flick. But to those who've been around on this planet a little longer, the story of Avatar is a far important story of good versus evil, war versus peace, destruction versus healing and isolationism versus interconnectedness. This depth of sensitivity to life is rare to find in anyfilm these days, much less a blockbuster feature film, but that's what makes Avatar so truly remarkable: It speaks to viewers at many different levels, intertwining the core themes of human mythology in an extremely tight, fast-paced screenplay that doesn't let a second go to waste.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017) The movie I chose is Thor: Ragnarok; I am a big marvel fan and especially a huge fan of Thor. I’ve been familiar with Thor since 2011; I have watched all the marvel films to date. It actually wasn’t until I took this class to learn that Thor is part of Norse mythology.
...ssignment has showed me the different views I have towards the culture of moviegoers. It made me understand their major purpose for coming to the movies with an outside view and made me look deep in to their purpose as a moviegoer myself in an insider perspective. It was a fun experience for me to go in to this particular subculture as I can relate to it. Many of us, if not all, are moviegoers ourselves. Seeing why they come and watch a movie with not just the purpose of watching moving pictures dumbfounds me. Seeing them escape the harsh realities of life simply by stepping foot through the front doors. That’s what makes this group truly interesting; the fact that we can escape from ourselves by entering the culture of moviegoers. This tells us that people in general have this inner ability deep within them guiding them through a stairway of happiness.
