The automotive electronics industry is mainly made up of a group of companies that provide and develop electronics based on four major categories namely, power controls, safety controls, communications and entertainment systems, and body electronics. These electronics address energy saving, environmentally friendly, safety, comfort, communications and entertainment aspects for the automotive market (Deloitte, 2013). For Mobileye’s case, it is currently operating in the safety controls segment (developing and supplying Advanced Driving Assisted System (ADAS)) in the automotive electronics industry, addressing the safety aspect face by the automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and consumers.
2. History of the Automotive Electronics Industry
Automotive electronics started with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), introduced in the 1970s as there is a need for engine management in the automotive industry (Chong, n.d.). This EFI device replaced the normal carburettor to supply power to the vehicle engine. The EFI is able to track the fuel volume and pump an exact amount to the engine to prevent flooding compared to the carburettor thus making efficient use of the fuel and more emission-friendly to provide more engine power and smoother ride (The People History, n.d.). Radio and the alternator were other automotive electronics

The automotive market is saturated with similar automotive electronics. Companies in the automotive electronics industry need to build good relationships with their customers to ensure a continuous partnership to work together and increase their market share steadily. Since the current automotive electronics are not easily differentiated or difficult to re-create, customers has low switching cost and companies operating in this industry need to consistently innovate and market their automotive electronics well in order to prevent sales from plateauing and continue to generate
Tuned Port Injection saw continued use on General Motors' performance cars from 1992 through 1994. During that period, the TPI system changed greatly but the basic concept behind its operation remained the same. In 1994, GM killed the TPI system and made the switch to a more modern and efficient Sequential Port Fuel Injection (SEFI) system, which is now used all their performance cars.
Purchasing a car is one of the biggest and most important decisions that someone will make during their lifetime. Over the past several years, the prices of a vehicle have increased significantly due to the rise of inflation. Economists compare averages of vehicles to calculate and determine the cost of every vehicle that ends up on the car lot. To determine the cost they interpret all the above information and include everything from the cost of making the vehicle to the time of selling it. In the long run, the demand for vehicles is inelastic because they become a necessity for many people. However, in the short run, the demand is elastic because the purchase of a new vehicle can be put off for a while.
The Automotive, or electric car industry particularly, comprises all those companies and activities involved in the manufacture of electric motor vehicles (EV), including most components, such as engines, bodies and rechargeable batteries or another energy storage device. The industry’s principal products are passenger automobiles. Despite the fact that the first electric cars were produced in 1880s , the advances in internal combustion engines, especially the electric starter, soon diminished the relative advantages of the electric car and became the dominant design in the market. Due to this the EV was almost a forgotten industry staying in the early stage of development, conforming to less than 1% of the automotive stock
Insert the key, turn, and vroom. And down the road you go. Most people take for granted the strange conglomeration of metal and plastic under that sheet of metal either in front or back of their vehicle. The engine as you may have guessed, is modern marvel- so to speak. They’re found in cars, trucks, boats, airplanes…All with various power outputs.
GM should continue to use its technological advantages to create innovative automobiles, but do so cautiously. GM should follow the direction of today’s environmentally conscious consumers who want less expensive, economical automobiles. GM should primarily utilize a cooperative game-theory approach in its sales and marketing strategies in order to stay in sync with the current automotive industry needs.
GM is also a pioneer when it comes to in-car navigation and entertainment systems. Starting this year, the company will install fast 4G mobile broadband in each of its cars sold in the United States and Canada[2]. Companies are keen on supporting research for smart cars; for instance last year, GM fitted 2800 cars in Detroit with devices that send and receive traffic and weather signals[3].
The world of technology is ever changing and advancing. With the automotive industry in play technology is constantly surpassing what is available today with what can be done for tomorrow. Technology and the automotive industry go hand in hand with constant improvement to components of cars. Due to technology advancement there is competition within the car industry, especially between American car companies and European car companies. European car companies provide their buyers with innovative variety and revolutionary luxuries. European car technology is superior to American car technology due to their safety, entertainment, and luxury features.
The automotive industry is one of the most important sectors of the economy for every country in the world. It involves a large number of corporations and institutions engaged in the manufacturing process of motor vehicles including designing, developing, manufacturing, marketing, and selling. It contributes to the global economic growth by generating a significant return and creating a ripple effect on supporting the supply chain as well as providing job opportunities for the skilled workers (ACEA, 2016).

Installed systems inside vehicles have become a process of differentiation to understand customers looking for cars with more than just the ability to transport people from one point to another. Although petrol is widely used, it is not the only source for a car to get its power from; diesel and electricity are alternatives to the general petrol used by most cars. Although different from each other, diesel and electricity are alternatives to the average gasoline received at a gas station. Diesel is a more concentrated type of fuel that is usually used by big automobiles because they require a lot of power in a little amount of time. Electricity is a method that uses the power of batteries to produce a low horsepower but, nevertheless fast automobile. Electric cars are generally created to be soundless and environment friendly. The purpose of this paper is to classify and educate the reader of the different types of fuel available for an automobile to use: petrol, diesel, and electricity. In a world that is quickly becoming ever dependant on technology, people take many things for granted. For example: nearly every day you and I get into our cars to go to work, school, shopping, or anywhere else you can think of. Naturally, car manufacturers are constantly coming up with new technologies to get people to buy their car over the next manufacturers; and a lot of these new inventions seem straight out of a sci-fi movie, or book in this case.
