The making of the first model, the Ford Quadricycle, began in 1896. Years later, in 1903, Henry Ford established the Ford Motor Company.

Ford didn’t create the concept, he perfected it. Within the innovation of the assembly line, he began the production of the Model T. It made its debut in 1908 with a price of $825. In the beginning, over ten thousand were sold. The assembly line was a quicker way to produce cars and helped by making the workers work less. Because of the assembly line, four years later, the price of the Model T was reduced to $575. Due to the reduction of the price, the sales increased. As a result, Ford Motors sold more cars and steadily increased its earnings- transforming the ways Americans thought about the car. By 1914, Ford was able to claim a 48% share of the automobile market. The Assembly Line helped get things done faster. He called it the $5 a day rate. It consisted of half pay, half bonus. The bonus that was given came with character requirements. It was enforced by the Socialization Organization. The workers were to avoid things such as gambling and drinking. They were to do certain things to be “Americanized.” Eventually, this plan led to a stable workforce. Ford, who had provided the original car and exerted a strong influence over company policy wanted lower prices for his cars and more money for his employees. This new idea satisfied many of the workers and made them want to work for his longer. It gave people a chance to prove to him that they were worthy of working for his new company.
