The gunshots seemed to be brisk. After the shots ended the entire world was calm. Two of my fellow Israeli Olympic team mates were killed. It was September 4th, 1972 at the Munich Germany Olympics. It was around 4 am when the gunmen made their way to the rooms where the Israeli team is staying. They break into the Olympic housing.
My teammates and I awoke to hearing gunshots around us. When the booming stopped we realized the terrorists were not in our room, but in the rooms next to us. The terrorist had hit the rooms next to us, but in my favor they didn’t break into our room. The terrorists took nine of my fellow Israeli athlete’s hostage.
One of the terrorists placed a body outside of the houses so the police would know that the terrorists were there. When the officers found the dead body on the sidewalk, they contacted the police chief to come investigate. When the police chief arrived, they found out this was no accident. The note was a demand list. The terrorists wanted all of the Palestinian prisoners in Israel released by 6:20am consequently if the prisoner’s weren’t released the hostages would be shot.
