On the night of Dec. 8th, 1980 – the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins were locked in a 13-13 tie with only seconds left in the 4th Quarter. What should have been an exciting finish to a close game suddenly became unimportant; as Howard Cosell and Frank Gifford struggled to find the words to broadcast the information they had just been given.
Gifford: ... Howard, you have to say what we know in the booth.
Cosell: … Yes, we have to say it. Remember this is just a football game; no matter who wins or loses. An unspeakable tragedy confirmed to us by ABC News in New York City: John Lennon, outside of his apartment building on the west side of New York City, the most famous perhaps, of all The Beatles, shot twice in the back, rushed to Roosevelt Hospital, dead on arrival. Hard to go back to the game with that news flash, which, in duty bound, we have to take. Frank?
Gifford: (after a pause) indeed it is. (2)
And with that announcement the whole world entered into a shared sadness and fascination about the details of the assassination of John Lennon.

Mark David Chapman sat on the curb, waiting for the police to arrive. He had removed his coat and hat to show he was not concealing any weapons. When he was asked by the Dakota doorman Jose Perdomo, “ Do you know what you have done?” – Chapman calmly replied, “ Yes, I just shot John Lennon”.
While it was true that he had indeed shot John Lennon, what Mark David Chapman did that night was much more then he probably ever could imagine.
The aftermath of his actions left a nation and the world in a state of mourning that had not been seen since the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Even now nearly 35 years after his death, events are held around the world to commemorate both his death and everlasting impact.
In James S. Hirsch’s book about Rubin "Hurricane" Cater, Hurricane, the author describes how Carter was wrongfully imprisoned and how he managed to become free. Hirsch tells about the nearly impossible battle for Carter and his friend John Artis for freedom and justice. Both, Carter and Artis, were convicted of a triple homicide, and both were innocent.
Leonard Peltier is currently serving time in the Leavenworth federal penitentiary for the shooting deaths of two Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) agents. According to FBI documents, at around 11:50 A.M. on June 26th, 1975, agents Jack Color and Ron Williams were supposedly searching for Jimmy Eagle, a thief wanted for stealing a pair of cowboy boots. The agents encroached on the Jumping Bull Compound in Oglala, South Dakota of the Pine Ridge reservation, in two separate vehicles that no one could recognize (Incident). In this area, there were several members of the American Indian Movement (AIM). After the intrusion of the agents, someone-and it is unsure who-fired a shot and a shoot out began. By the end of the shoot out at Pine Ridge, Williams, Color, and one AIM activist, Joe Stuntz Killsright, were dead (Incident). Peltier was one of the AIM members at the Jumping Bull Compound, and ultimately he was charged and convicted on murder charges. There is a great controversy surrounding the Peltier case. A large contingency of both domestic and international citizens and organizations feel that Peltier has been wrongly convicted, while the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other government authorities here feel as justice was served.
More than fifty years ago, an event took place that will linger within the minds of all American historians and scholars around the world for decades to come. Even for those who did not experience it, the assassination of John F. Kennedy made an impact on every American's life and was felt across the globe. November 22, 1963 marks the day that shocked America and changed perceptions of our country. On this day, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated, leading many to distrust the federal government, initiating the dawn of the conspiracy era, loss of hope in America, and the presidential security system being permanently altered.
Everyone was going crazy because of The Beatles. Beatlemania was defined by the multitude of crazed young women obsessed with this new rock 'n roll band. It began in 1963 and continued until they broke up in 1970. In 1969, a listener of WKNR-FM called in and made a comment that shocked the world: Paul McCartney, one of the four Beatles, was dead. The caller, who gave only the name Tom as an identity, claimed that in 1966, McCartney had been in a fatal car accident, but it had been withheld from the public to avoid riots and other mayhem by grief-stricken fans. The caller went on to inform the disk jockey, Russell Gibb, that the band had placed clues in some of their songs and album covers. Some songs had clues in them that you could only hear if you played them backwards. When the clues were aired on the radio, the mayhem that they had tried to avoid, began to break out. The Paul McCartney Death Hoax was The Beatles' method of secretly warning their fans of their possible breakup.
The album begins with the hard-rocker “Come Together”. The song is a perfect example of John Lennon’s rock influence in the Beatles. “Come Together” is a song that’s popularity has been revived due to its appearances in many commercials. Its trademark chorus, “Come together right now over me”, is known just about everywhere. Ringo’s heavy drums and John’s deep poetic lyrics drive the song, while Paul’s voice and George’s sharp guitar contribute to the body of this song. John Lennon was well known for his creative lyrics. His mind provided lyrics for such insightful songs such as “Across the Universe” and “A Day in the Life”.
The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy will remain as one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American political history. Unfortunately, no matter how many witnesses testify or how much new evidence is found, it is unlikely that the world will ever know the complete truth behind this American tragedy.
The Beatles are known, respectively, as the fathers of modern pop music. After their first #1 hit “Please Please Me” was released in 1963 the Beatles were set in motion to become one of the most influential groups of musicians to ever rock our world. With over forty-nine records, 37 #1’s, and thirty- four number one albums (the highest amount of any band in history), there is no denying that they made a monumental ripple in the musical world. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr surprisingly all come from humble beginnings in a town that, until their superstardom, was barely noticed on the map. Liverpool, being kn...

The year of 1963 would be the year that would forever be remembered as the time when President John Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. On a warm Friday afternoon in downtown Dallas, perched on the top floor of the Texas School Book Depositary, Lee Harvey Oswald set aim on one of the more popular presidents of all time. This event impacted the history of the United States, and is one of the most talked about killings of all time.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the 35th president of the United States, and the public loved him. That is why his assassination was a horrific event. Many people wanted for justice to be served to whoever was responsible for Kennedy’s death, and the US government tried to give the people closure by convicting Lee Harvey Oswald as the lone perpetrator in the assassination. Despite the conviction of Lee Harvey Oswald, there is probable cause to believe that he was not responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The mismanagement of many of the details surrounding the assassination has fueled the belief system that a great conspiracy was involved.

John Lennon was born on October 9th 1940 in Liverpool, England 1. His father left the family to sail the seas before Lennon’s earliest childhood memory and his mother was taken away by a car accident when he was 18 2. A year after his mother’s death, the Vietnam War took place, which is The United State’s longest military dispute ever. The world famous band, The Beatles, debut on 1961 not long after the start of the war and through this band, Lennon was able to demonstrate his feelings to the people across the world. "Revolution," performed by The Beatles, was created in 1968, when the anti-war demonstration was on the move. After the separation of The Beatles in 1969, Lennon composed the song "Imagine" (1971) 3. This song proves that Lennon is a Peace-Loving-Atheist and a "Voluntarist" 4 that believes in the scheme that people’s ideas can change social reality; however simultaneously admits that there are constantly wars going on in the world. As a result, he could be a mixture of all four, Realist, Liberal, Marxist and Constructivist. On December 8th 1980, approximately five years after the end of the Vietnam War, Lennon was assassinated by Mark Chapman 5. It is not for certain that the word assassination could be used on a singer, song writer who also published books. However there is no doubt about the fact that Lennon touched many people’s hearts around the world and maybe was even praised as an almighty figure.
The Beatles wrote hundreds of songs throughout their long career and many of which had the same main ideas in them. Those two ideas seem to standout in most of their songs, and they are the ideas of peace and love. They were so passionate about these two ideas especially world peace, that they became avid participants and leaders in the anti-war movement, against the War in Vietnam. It seemed strange ...
John Lennon’s solo career was marked by experimentation and political activism. Most importantly, he proved that musicians could successfully reinvent and transform themselves, and carve out success on their own. To begin with John Lennon was a poor student and lasted only a year at art school, so thankfully music was a good back up plan. John Lennon would go on to put out albums such as “Power to the People” single and Imagine LP. These albums were more political and musically adventurous. Imagine was also marked by brutal honesty, between Lennon's admissions of cruel behavior on "Jealous Guy" and alleged digs at Paul McCartney throughout "How Do You Sleep?". Like everyone else in life, John Lennon had his ups and downs throughout the 1970’s. The albums Sometime In New York City and Mind Games did not replicate the success of his first two albums. Lennon was also trying to fight off being deported by the Nixon administration in 1973 due to his stance in politics. Things started to look up when his single “Whatever Gets You Through The Night” hit No. 1 in 1974. On December 8th, 1980, Mark David Chapman shot and killed Lennon outside his apartment in New York City. The entire world stopped to grief, and musical tributes poured in from all corners for years to come. John Lennon was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in
