The Assassination of John F. Kennedy After a very close election John F. Kennedy beat republican opponent Richard Nixon for presidency. The first months of Kennedy’s terms did not go smoothly, among many other conflicts and situational events the main disappointment was the unsuccessful Bay of Pigs Invasion. Kennedy’s whole time in office did not reflect his first few months. He was very successful in stimulating the economy, the civil rights movements, and also keeping the cold war from becoming hot. Kennedy did not continue his success because he was assassinated. What would have happen if JFK was actually killed by the CIA? Americans would not believe in their government. Lee Harvey Oswald is believed to have been the one responsible for the assassination of the president, although there are discrepancy’s and evidence to support a conspiracy theory. (Expand intro). Kennedy was traveling and doing speeches in nine different states in only a week, in preparation for his next presidential campaign which had not been announced but was obvious. The first state Kennedy traveled to Texas, along with his wife Jackie Kennedy. This was the first appearance Ms. Kennedy had made since she lost her son Patrick to Hyaline Membrane Disease also known as Infant Respiratory Distress Syndrome, he was only two days old(The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum). The day began just as any other day but soon ended in tragedy and sorrow. As the motorcade traveled down a crowed street in Dallas a gun shot rang out. The president had been stuck in the back of the head and neck by the bullet and he fell toward Ms. Kennedy. The governor of Texas, John Connelly was also struck by a bullet. Kennedy was unaware of the CIA trying to execute Cuban officials. Some of the CIA person of interest is Johnny rosella, santo trafficante, Sam Gianana, and bill Harvey who was also a person of interest in the Kennedy assassination. During the church committee investigation Roselli and Giancana were both killed. There’s is no evidence of the president or the Warren Commission having knowledge of the CIA operation mongoose or any of the persons of interest. With all of the CIA’s missions being top secret even to the leader of the country it is no surprise that they are involved with the assassination of President Kennedy. Although they did not do it with James bond style they still executed the president and did not have any ramifications of their actions, they let the consequences fall on to Oswald and Ruby.
