The characterization and storyline are standards that should be met when releasing a drama film, but equally important is the script. Jamal Hill, writer of Brotherly Love, wrote a script with structure. When it comes to writing a movie, or anything else for that matter, the structure in which you place your characters, events, reactions and outcomes should be organized in such a way that a solid plot is formed. Hill arranged his events in a chronological order to evoke the ideal emotional appeal from his audience. He did that when he started the movie off with June Taylor relentlessly killing four men in cold blood and ending it with Sergio making to the NBA league.
The dominant characteristics found within ‘Competitive Brothers’ focuses on the familial dynamics, son’s duty to his father, and test of will and character. All three stories shared the same family unit, which was made up of one parental figure that serves to
I would say that a strength and a weakness to the story would be they order he told it in. I’m so used to seeing books told in chronological order, so seeing a story told in an order other than that was quite strange for me. There are many pros and cons to telling his story like this though. A pro would be that it’s new and refreshing to most readers and keeps you light on your feet. A con might be that you could get confused or lost in the story, and you might have to read the book once or twice to really understand it.
Familial Love is natural or instinctual love. Familial Love can also be referred to as the love between a parent and a child. In J. D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye, the character of Holden Caulfield does not convincingly embody a compassionate and caring character. Holden, after having a difficult year at school, finds comfort in his memories of his brother Allie. Another instance of Holden finding comfort, is when he spends time with Phoebe. In the same way, Phoebe is supportive when spending time with Holden. However, this takes a turn for the worse, as Holden reveals to Phoebe that he is leaving. Holden finds comfort and love through his memories of Allie, his experiences with Phoebe and the support from he receives from her.

Throughout “Argument as Conversation,” Stuart Greene demonstrates the concept of supporting an argument through the use of varying conversations to encourage writers to research and support their own personal opinions. Greene begins by expressing that to take a stand on one argument it is necessary to extensive research on all aspects having to do with a topic. Greene also communicates that reading acts as one of the most important things a writer can do. While stating this Greene explains that the research conducted must contain counterarguments, context, and objections to the idea at hand. This research could be done in the form of a conversation. For example, listening to an argument and adding personal input, while receiving criticism
Tan includes a direct quote from her mother in paragraph six of the reading, and she does not shorten it for an important reason. Tan decides to keep the entire quote instead of paraphrasing to add an effect that a reader can only understand with the full quote. It shows that even though some people speak the language of English it is hard for others to understand based on the person’s full understanding and comprehension of the language. In Tan’s case she is used to the way her mother speaks and uses the language, but to others it is almost impossible to understand. If it were not for Tan summarizing what the quote meant before putting it in the text, few readers would have understood what the mother was trying to convey with her use of the language. Tan’s strategy in including this direct quotation is to show that language differs from person to person even if they all speak the same language. She is implying that the whole world could speak English; however, it would not be the same type of English because of how everyone learns and how others around
Character development is an essential component to a successful film. This thorough and elaborate character development is a reason why diverse audiences are able to watch these films more than once. Joel and Ethan Coen, and Quentin Tarantino are all writers and directors that execute the theme of character driven films almost to perfection. The films O Brother, Where Art Thou, written and directed by the Coen Brothers, and Pulp Fiction, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, exemplify this.
Every movie that is written has a certain attitude to it. Some of these are intended to be laughed at and others are meant to be heartfelt. Though each movie is written with its own voice, so to speak, many have similar plots or themes. The two movies Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding are two of these movies that have similarities in the themes, but not necessarily in the plots. Both of these romantic comedies have strong religious backgrounds on the woman’s side of the family and differences in culture. The main theme between these two movies is the quest for happiness and all the troubles that must be overcome to achieve it.
Holden tries to preserve his own innocence, and the innocence of others by not letting go of childhood memories and through his desire to suspend time. Holden views the adult world as corrupt and full of phonies. He admires childhood because of how it is free of corruption, and untouched by the adult world. IN order to preserve his own innocence Holden often attaches himself to childhood memories. The Museum of NAtural History is one of Holden’s favourite places . He mentions that his grade one teacher Miss. Aigletinger used to take his class there every saturday. While writing about the museum he says, “The best thing, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was” (121). This shows how Holden wants to preserve his innocence because he expresses how he likes how everything stayed the
“Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe”( Douglass). This famous quote epitomizes the philosophies of Frederick Douglass, in which he wanted everyone to be treated with dignity; if everyone was not treated with equality, no one person or property would be safe harm. His experience as a house slave, field slave and ship builder gave him the knowledge to develop into a persuasive speaker and abolitionist. In his narrative, he makes key arguments to white abolitionist and Christians on why slavery should be abolished. The key arguments that Frederick Douglass tries to vindicate are that slavery denies slaves of their identity, slavery is also detrimental for the slave owner, and slavery is ungodly.
“Justice cannot be for one side alone, but must be for both” (Roosevelt). The goal of America’s legal system as we know it is that everyone is given an equal opportunity to stick up for what they may or may not have done, as described by former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Also this is what officials strive for, it is not always the case. Facts can be skewed, distorted, or misrepresented to make one side seem to be guilty without a doubt and to make the other side seem as if they have done nothing wrong. The Crucible by Arthur Miller begins and ends with one-sided accusations of witchcraft. It all results from a group of girls who had been dancing in the woods. After two fall sick, the accusations begin. The girls who were dancing, especially Abigail Williams begin blaming others to look less guilty themselves. Accusations are flying left and right so that soon, hundreds are in jail and over a dozen are executed. Abby’s main goal is to get rid of Elizabeth Proctor, so she can be with John Proctor, a man she previously had an affair with. However, John is not interested in Abby and his

Fraternal polyandry is where more than one brothers marry a woman together then live
A set of practices concerning the narrative structure compose the classical Hollywood Paradigm. These conventions create a plot centering around a character who undergoes a journey in an attempt to achieve some type of goal (). By giving the central character more time on screen, the film helps the audience to not only understand the character’s motivation but also empathize with his/her emotional state. Additionally, some antagonistic force creates conflict with the main character, preventing immediate success(). Finally, after confronting the antagonist, the main character achieves his or her goal along with growing emotionally(). This proven structure creates a linear and relatively easily followed series of events encompassing the leading character and a goal.

Before any physical shooting can take place, a series of preparation steps must occur to ready the production crew and actors alike. The beginning of any film starts with the story, much like a novel. Instead of words in a book, however, a script serves as the backbone of the film, containing all of the characters, settings, and action that takes place in the story. The script’s story will comprise of a conflict posed at the main character, a goal for that main character, and some sort of resolution.
