Writers use personality traits and events to change the classical ideals. Majority of the writer's focus is to change people's attitude's. The book that I am writing about is The Spectacular Now by Tim Sharp. The main idea of this novel is a kid who struggles through high school, doesn’t truly know his dad, and has become an alcoholic as well as more than acquainted with drugs. He was dumped by his girlfriend, found a nerdy, shy girl with a dark background, and set his path to help her. He made her less shy and more confident but with the cost of whiskey. Towards the end of the story, shy, nerdy girl became an alcoholic, and the main character finally met his real father and ended up despising him so much that he drank more than usual, and nearly got into an accident of the freeway. When he pulled over, his new “girlfriend” ended up getting clipped by a car and broke her arm. He then began to realize the significance of what everyone has done, or attempted to do.
A place of poverty, depression and crime that you have to struggle in just to escape. Fully aware of what is happening and taking place within his community, the narrator tries so hard not to let his surrounding control him emotionally. Unlike Sonny, the narrator has a difficult time expressing how and what he feels until he loses his daughter grace. Grace’s death creates the grace in the story, which happens to be a breakthrough and turning point for the narrator; after being imprisoned physically for so long and not speaking to him, the narrator finally breaks and sends his brother a letter. Carrying a burden, the narrator realizes he was suppose to care and look over Sonny. He feels as if he has let his mother down because he did not live up to his responsibilities as a brother. He says in the story, “ i couldn't believe it: i couldn't find any room for it anywhere inside of me. i had kept it outside of me for a long time. i hadn't wanted to know”(Narrator,103). Expressing his sympathy and not being able to cope and accept the reality of what was really going on, instead blocking out the life he lived as an african american, which pulled his brother in as well as himself to try and live up to what the white community views as

My book was “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio, which was a fictional book about a 10 year old boy with severe facial deformities named August, or Auggie, and his journey in entering the harsh environment of middle school for the first time. August lives in a Manhattan home with his two parents and sister in modern day times. In the start of August’s journey, August is accepting the fact that after years of being in the comfort of his own home, he needs to step out of his comfort zone and go to middle school, which his mom had been encouraging him to do. Although August is aware that he will more than likely experience bullying at middle school, as he has his whole life, he still develops enough courage to go in hopes of experiencing life as a normal kid. As expected, in the start of August’s time in middle school, he gets bullied by other kids by receiving stares of disgust, exclusion, and even some physical bullying, all because of his facial deformities. However, August was resilient and decided to stay in middle school despite how hard it may have been. As August made his way through his first year of middle school, he gradually started to develope friends once people noticed his sense of humor, intelligence, and kindness. Towards the end of the
