In 1920, the American Professional Football Conference would be founded and would feature 14 teams. Though, most of these teams would end up dropping out and not finish their schedule. At the end of the season, only 4 teams had remained. In 1921, the league would grow immensely, as there would now be 22 teams. Of those teams contained the Green Bay Packers, who hold the record for the longest unchanged team name. The APFC would be renamed to the National Football League in 1922.

In the mid 1920’s, the league had grown to 25 teams and was growing at a very fast rate. Many college players had great interest in playing in the NFL. This would start to be the rise of one of the most popular sports America has ever seen.
