English is commonly spoken in the United States of America. Even though this is true not all English is the same. Many different people have trouble communicating because of this. Immigrants may speak a broken English while nonimmigrant speak a clear English. The same goes for men and women. We may both speak it clear, but we say things differently. English will always be used in the United States of America but will not always be understood. Because of speaking the same language differently, it puts many people here in the United States of America at a disadvantage. Speaking the proper English is and always be helpful in life. Spanglish is one of these forms that is normally spoken at home. In Patricia’s blog post titled Advantages and Disadvantages she describes Spanglish as “The introduction of English.” Beginning to learn English like this may be fine, but must be corrected as soon as possible. Continuing to speak like this will only put someone at a disadvantage. Having this disadvantage will most likely affect the possibility of being taken seriously or even not getting hired for a job. A person may speak only Spanglish and is need of a job, but because they do not speak proper English, they will only get rejected. Many times I had to speak on the phone for my mother also. She knows how to speak English, but not very well. Many times she also has a hard time understanding what certain people say. Because of these reasons my mother would make me speak on the phone for her. She did not want to be rejected because of her ability to communicate. She did this to help herself. While doing this for my mother it only helped me realize that speaking clear English will only help me in the future. After this realization I started to speak only in English with my brother, which is only 1 year and half younger than me. With my brother and I speaking English all the time it also only helped my mother improve her English to the point where she got comfortable using it

This is why it is important to know who you will be speaking to and anticipate how they may be.
