The 30 Meter Dash
The 30 metre dash is a test on your ability of speed from a flying
start. There is a path measured of 30 metres, you must do a slight jog
up to the line then sprint as fast as you can across the finish line
being timed.
This test is testing your anaerobic fitness and the muscles in your
quadriceps and calves as you are sprinting for just 30 metres. Also it
is testing if you have shot busts of power.
The type of person who would use this type of test would be a 100
metre sprinter as they can train in separate lengths. Also this test
would be excellent for a football striker, as they need short bursts
of power to run after or with the ball towards the goal. Also they
would use this test to see how much strength and power is in there
legs.
The rule and regulations of this test would be that firstly you must
be timed for the full 30 metre run and not any less.
Also you must be timed as soon as you start sprinting on the 30 metres
line and stopped soon as you finished. You may not just start
sprinting any closer on the track or any further.
The reason why a person may not do very well on this test, is that the
floor could be very slippery and uneven. Also it maybe unfair as the
teacher may not start the stop watch right and either add on time or
take off time. Also another reason, maybe due to the weather being
cold. When I did the test I got 3.71 seconds, which I was pleased
with however I believe I could have done better as I had a cold and
was ill.
Agility Test
The agility test is testing your speed and agility. Also it is testing
your co-ordination and reaction speed. Also it is testing you on your
speed within short distances as you turn and sprint.

A runner must use a strategy that is specific to that style of racing. If a distance runner attempts to apply pacing to a short sprint he has lost the race before approaching the start. Although racing strategies differ between every individual race it is possible to associate some basic strategies used in particular types of races. These techniques are common amongst the runners of a particular event but vary compared to runners of different types of races.

Many people argue that cross country is one of the hardest, most physically challenging sports there is out there. A lot of people shudder at the idea of running two or more miles on hilly, steep, muddy and rocky trails. The funny thing about that is that is not even the worst part. In order to run two to four miles in races, one must prepare. “How do you prepare your body to run this long?” one might ask. That is where my argument comes in. Being a cross country runner of four years, I have seen, done and heard of a plethora of ways and strategies to become a successful cross country runner. Some are outlandish, ridiculous and just plain out stupid; but some are also rewarding, beneficial and worth the hard work. Personally, I feel like having a good strong balanced diet, learning how to pace yourself and maintain a positive, motivational attitude and the key ingredients in being a successful cross country runner.
Some students simply do not test well, others try their hardest and still cannot reach the impracticable standards set for them. The individuals who create these tests do not understand the pressures of being a student, or the struggle to answer thirty-five questions in a compressed time period. One test cannot accurately measure the intelligence of a student.
Endurance running is a rewarding experience that puts to test an athlete’s courage, perseverance and determination. It is a marvelous wonder how the human body, with the proper conditioning and mental focus, could achieve such tasking running distance. Elite runners complete the marathon course in just over 2 hours, while the average runner completes it in about 4.5 hours. It’s difficult to comprehend how someone could run, consistently, for 4.5 hours.The actual marathon is simply a formality as the journey starts the day training begins. The outcome, the day of the marathon, is dependent on how successful the training program was executed. Long distance runners are the biggest advocates of the sport, always convincing others to jump on the training wagon. However, some runners, while they refuse to admit it, ponder if the effects of long distance running could be doing more damage than good. It is true that long distance running is potentially dangerous to the heart; however, research suggests that physician examination, as well as proper mechanics and posture during the training phase would ensure an enjoyable journey towards reaching an endurance goal injury free and would even benefit the heart in the long run.

The moment of truth was upon me. The official times, this includes whom qualified for finals, for the 400m relay had been posted. My eyes scanned the page for the bold letters that spell ANDERSON. Going into the first race we had not expected much since Susan and I had never run this type of race. There were so many crucial things that we had to remember. It wasn't just to get out of the blocks and burn up the track; there was a baton involved, a certain amount of steps to take, and even a certain way to hold the baton.
