Many of us don’t get out of bed in the morning without checking our phone and going on the internet to see what the weather will be like for today, calling our friend to see where to meet before school, and instantly turning on our favorite songs to get ready to. Thanks to the 1990s, all of those things are possible. The 1990s introduced technology such as the internet, cell phones, cd’s, and many other things that has changed the world, and made communication and finding information faster and more convenient. Several historical events in the 1990s occurred such as the Hubble Telescope being launched in 1990, the World Trade Center getting bombed in 1993, the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, scientists cloning sheep in 1997, and the Columbine shooting in 1999. (Rosenberg). Some of the social events that occurred in the 1990s were, the internet being invented in released to the public on August 6, 1991, (Bryant), cell phones becoming a popular way to communicate, and cd’s being invented in 1993 made listening to music a lot easier. …show more content…
(Rosenberg). Some political events that happened in the 1990s were the 27th amendment being passed in 1992, The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) went into effect, creating one of the largest free trade zones with Canada, the United States, and Mexico, (NAFTANOW.org), and President Clinton getting impeached in 1998 for lying under oath in front of a grand jury. (History.com). During the 1990s people wanted to be able to communicate with each other faster and easier, so the Internet and cell phones became increasingly popular throughout the 1990s. By the late 1990s, 45+ million people had access to the World Wide Web, and over 86 million people owned cell phones. Cd’s also became very popular during the 1990s, before Cd’s were invented, people had to use cassette tapes, which made it difficult to listen to songs because to go to the next song you would have to wait and rewind or fast-forward through the whole song. Cd’s made it a lot faster to change the song, or rewind the song, or fast-forward it. When Cd’s went on the market in 1993, people all over the United States purchased one, they ended up being the number one recording format. When DVD’s were introduced in 1997, they were very popular, but surprisingly only 7% of households owned a DVD player by 1998, due to high prices that comes with new technology. The reason why the internet and cell phones became so popular was because people wanted to know things as soon as possible, for example, when a major event such as the World Trade Center getting bombed in 1993, or the Columbine shooting in 1999, or even that scientists learned how to clone sheep in 1997 interested people, and they wanted to know all the information about those events instantly, rather than having to wait to get home and watch what happened on the news.
Cell phones became very useful during that time as well, you could call somebody whenever or wherever you were, instead of having to wait to go home and use the home phone. The new technology that was invented and introduced in the 1990s made communication a lot easier, and people couldn’t resist getting involved with the technology, so they could communicate with family and friends, and find out what’s happening on the other side of the country with the push of a
button. Thanks to the 1990s, several inventions have changed the way we communicate with each other a daily basis, and has helped us be more educated when a major event happens somewhere in the world, that without the technology we have now, we might of never known about. If it had not been for the 1990s, I wouldn’t have been able to find sources without spending endless hours at a library searching through books for this essay, or type it up on a computer. Thankfully instead of turning in a handwritten report, I’m able to type and print this out easily, thanks to the 1990s.
The 1980’s is one of the most interesting decades that was experienced in the United States. Dealing with the stock market, the coming up of new inventions, all the way to the types of music people listened to. During the 1980s, the only thing that made Americans be “Americans” was because of the things they were provided with. Many Americans had fun throughout the 1980s with materialistic, glamorous, and technological life styles; therefore there were different economical problems that Americans faced.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in the 1980’s? The crazy hair styles, the new and improved things that were being created made this time alive, and fun. To be born in the 1980’s would have a been a privilege, who wouldn’t want to be known as “The decade that defined…. “US!” The 1980s was a decade that began on January 1, 1980, and ended on December 31, 1989. This decade was a great social and economic time period for people living in the 80’s. The world was becoming more developed as well as everyone in it. This decade became the “Look at me” generation of status seekers. The 80’s made a new breed of billionaires and money makers. “The decade began with double-digit inflation, Reagan declared a war on drugs, Kermit didn't find it easy to be green, hospital costs rose, we lost many, many of our finest talents to AIDS which before the decade ended spread to black and Hispanic women, and unemployment rose,” according to Peggy Whitely of Lone Star College. Although this time seemed like all fun and games, there were many problems. People say we lost the meaning of “We” and it suddenly became “I.” Citizens were realizing that you couldn’t depend on others around you; they were coming up with new ideas, and inventions to allow things to be more efficient. Although the 1980’s suffered a huge change for the American people, the fads and fashion part of the people strived, as well as the inventions. These two things will be some of the most historical, yet fascinating parts of the 80’s generation in American History.
The nineteen eighties were known for new music genres becoming popular, space travel, new technologies, and a galore of fun and interesting things. This is the life of an average human in the nineteen eighties but as you dig deeper into the eighties and look between the lines you will discover many things about the nineteen eighties, such as its economic, social and political state. In the nineteen eighties Canada benefited greatly and saw great prosperity socially and politically but economically there were many negatives as well as positives.
The era of the 1990’s was an explosive time in American history both figuratively and literally. In the 90’s there was an extreme variety of different failures and also advances in technology. We as a nation had new advancements in space travel, our military and the way of life preparing for the turn of the century. As a country we didn’t know what the new millennium had to bring for us, but we were ready. Most significantly changing America though was from our creativeness that took place, the fear we had, and our militaristic ways.
In the 1990’s there was a struggle to define America and there was a huge difference from America politics and culture. The main issues that were being focused on and heavily debated were abortion, gun policies, separation of church and state, recreational drugs, privacy, censorship and homosexuality (Nelson Tran, Cultural Wars of 1990’s). The public school curriculum was also being debated in the 1990’s. Society started to divide and group up depending on what there believes were. The groups are definite mostly by moral world views, rather than by religion, ethnicity, social class, or even political affiliation. The cultural wars had major impacts on national politics in the United States in the 1990’s. All of these issues during the time may have caused then-President George H.W. Bush the chance of reelection and helped his replacement, Bill Clinton, win the reelection in

There are a few components that go along with technology. There are a lot of pros to technology, but what else is it good for? Many people think that technology is bad, but at this time of life, the good always outweighs the bad.
“The 1990s were a time of globalization which science and technology saw notable growth. The
Technology is unavoidable in our modern lifestyle. You wake up, you use technology; you use technology while cooking, while eating, while driving. While you’re lying in bed before you fall asleep, you use technology, technology wakes you up in the morning. Is all the technology around you good for you, or is it harmful to your health? Was our society healthier or safer before all the advancements? So many questions and concerns about all of the technology we crave, but there are very few people who know the answers. Technology affects all parts of human life. It can create jobs, motivate people to get active, and assist people in learning, but this does not balance out that there are dangers that follow the use of technology.
Technology has undoubtedly made a huge impact in our lives through several different aspects. From the laundry machine that washes our clothes, to the microwave that heats up our food, technology has allowed us to live an easier and better lifestyle. One area that the advancement of technology has really influenced is crime. As the demand of consumers increase, new products are released which many use to their advantage and can cause an increase in the amount of crime that occurs throughout the world but, more specifically the United States. On the other hand, the criminal justice system has noticed several issues that need to be addressed and release new inventions that in turn reduce crime in the targeted area of interest. We are eternally learning from other cultures and adapting and forging a new approach to better understand and reprimand offenders and make sure justice always prevails. We have seen history and technology alter and imperceptibly modify towards new cultures and an easier lifestyle.

Today, Americans are faced with the increasing change of technology in our everyday life. Sometimes the change happens and we do not realize how it affects our lives. I think it is always a good idea to talk to someone that is older than yourself, like your grandparents to remind you of the times in their younger years. Hopefully, that will open your eyes to the changes we face in this generation and the generation to come. In this chapter, the author explores the relationship of changing technology to changes in both the environment and social institutions.
The Internet has changed the way people interact with each other and entertain themselves. It has changed the way business is done. It has also changed the way people date, commit crime, and interview for jobs, it has even changed health care, among many other things. Technology and the Internet are not going away and the need for people to adapt is prominent. Internet is so prominent in Management Information systems. There are Internet based information systems. These systems are important because they can improve company efficiency. These systems can house data with extreme efficiency. Internet based information systems leave the possibilities of efficiency unlimited. Technology is only going to expand farther and new ways to communicate digitally will be introduced into businesses. It has already altered the way we interact with one another, and consumers to suppliers.
