Someone I am Thankful For
A dad, a guiding hand on your shoulder that will remain there forever.” - Unknown. A father is there through your journey of live, witnessing every bad, good, and uncertain decision that comes your way. My dad has a lot of character traits that i should be more thankful for. He tries to hide some, show most, and create others, but I am thankful for them all. My dad never gives up the opportunity to go the extra mile on something.
He’s always losing it at some simple joke that he made up. But overall, he loves at the end of everyday.
My father is one of the most important people in my lives, and I’m overly grateful for him.
My dad is a great role model for me because he is always committed to everything. He goes to work everyday of his life, and even though he doesn’t admire the people there, he acts like he does.
My father makes plans, and he sticks to them. No matter what goes wrong, we will always do what we planned for that morning, no matter what it takes.
Lastly, my dad always goes the extra mile. We will sit at the dinner table all night long doing homework just to make sure that I get a good

My father is always making smart remarks that make me snicker. Even more to people we don’t know, making them laugh and creating new friendships. Sometimes I am ditsy, and that is one of the many features I get from my dad. He is sometimes dumb witted and doesn’t think of the right solution right away, but that's what makes him more funny and lovable.Although, the words that come out of his mouth are comical, he actions have the same effect on most people. My dad is always dancing and jumping, and he gives away his abilities like the flu, constantly and repetitively. He wears his smile as an accessory that isn’t able to come off his face ever, and his laugh like a radio with a broken volume
Just about anybody can be a good role model. One may ask what a good role model is, and how a good role model dif...
A role model is someone that is sought for guidance, and often admired. When thinking of my own role model, the qualities I wish to have when I become an adult come to mind. When scanning through the many influential adults that have shaped who I am today, deciding on just one role model is a difficult feat. However, I see the person I wish to become, reflected in the life of my dad. For that reason, my role model is my own father.
In all possible words that I may choose to describe the relationship with my father, the one word that accurately expresses the emotion that has accrued throughout the years would be "admirable." The Oxford English Dictionary defines this word as "arousing or deserving respect and approval." As a father he taught me the importance of attaining an exceptional education. As a man he advocated the urgency of harboring honor and discipline. Encompassing the authoritative parenting style, I have always known my father to encourage success but welcome failure. That is, so long as an honest effort was made. Personally, I credit his parenting style in part due to his military background. Or maybe it was due in part of the lack of a father-figure in his childhood. Whatever the reasoning, I am proud and grateful for having him in my life not only as a father, bu...
He is the type of person that makes me very proud to say that he is my father, and the type of father that I am most fortunate to have. My father and I have always been very close. He is both loving and caring and the type of person that always puts his family first.
My dad has always been selfless when it comes to his job. Whenever a co-worker needs a vacation day or a sick day, my dad offers to cover them. The boss at the Sheriff’s office once recognized my dad as the deputy who has taken the least amount of sick days. Friends of my dad have also called my dad selfless. If anyone needs advice or a favor, they have never hesitated to ask Karl. One instance where I recall my dad acting selfless was when a friend of my dad’s came out as being gay to my dad. My dad was the first one to find out and he put his personal feelings aside to assist his friend in the next step of his life, which happened to be coming out to his family. I have also spent a lot of time feeding animals with my dad for one of his friends. Despite his busy life, my dad has always acted selfless when it comes to his family. No matter what he really needed or wanted, my dad always put our needs and wants before his own. Just like Targan’s father, my dad has always strove to have “enough”. I can not recall a single Christmas that I did not receive what I wanted, or when my dad got something extravagant. Whenever a chore needs done around the house, my dad is usually the first person to volunteer to help. I can remember several times where he cleaned our house last minute to save us all from disaster. Just like Targan’s father, my dad never expected glory from his selfless acts. My dad shows incredible selflessness when it comes to his work, his friends, and his
In my life, my grandfather has always been my role model. He valued his beliefs and always abides by his values. My grandfather is a pastor. His leadership position in church gave him many responsibilities. I was never disappointed because he always tried to live an honest life. He was always trustworthy, reliable and responsible not just in church but also for his family. People followed his lead because he was always true to his words; he literally practiced what he preached. Credibility was the basic foundation for my grandfather’s leadership position. His credibleness has helped the church stay
My father was always there for me, whether I wanted him to be or not. Most of the time, as an adolescent trying to claim my independence, I saw this as a problem. Looking back I now realize it was a problem every child needs, having a loving father. As hard as I tried to fight it, my dad instilled in me the good values and work ethic to be an honest and responsible member of society. He taught me how to be a good husband. He taught me how to be a good father. He taught me how to be a man. It has been 18 years since my father’s death, and I am still learning from the memories I have of him.
He built and exact replica of himself when raising me. His hobbies are my hobbies, i enjoy doing everything he does. My mom explains to my brothers and i about when my dad was our age he was built like an ox with the perfect muscular that everybody dreamed of. Like myself now, he loved to workout. He would put us in push-up competitions when we were younger against each other and first place could win a few dollars and back then a few dollars went a long way. I read a quote that said “ If you give a man a fish then he’ll eat for a night but if you teach a man to fish then he’ll eat for a lifetime.” The same way the leader of the jungle teachers his young cubs to survive, my dad did the same thing. He gave me my first fishing reel, taught me how to hunt, then taught me how to clean and cook everything I caught. We both count down the months until it is warm enough to fish and when it is legally allowed to kill. The only difference between us is I grew up playing sports but he is still my number one
Today we come together to celebrate the life of a man who gave all he could the best way he could. He was my father. For his life I want to honor him and thank him. I have so much to be grateful for in my life today because this man gave me a vision for success and a spirit contained in a legacy that always goes forward.
My dad can be mean most of the time but I love him and I will always love him. I know that in the end that my dad will be the one next to me helping me get through the rough times when needed. He would do anything for me
It is easy to say that a parent has had the most influence on your life, they taught you how to walk, talk, drink and among many other things hopefully right from wrong. A good parent is there for you most of your life, quick to lend a hand or offer advice (unless it’s your mother-in-law) when needed, but the trait that impacted my life the most was the integrity my father exhibited with me and the people lucky enough to have met him.
My dad is always happy to help. He always has time to assist me with whatever I need. Sometimes when I don't comprehend a certain thing on my homework, he works through the problem with me until I fully understand how to solve it myself. He is very inquisitive and is always showing me diverse ways to solve my problems If I have to do chores around the house, he is always the first one I call. He and I work together as a team and finish them. Also, I speak two languages, so it is a little hard when I am talking to my parents to not get the two mixed up. Luckily, my dad helps me by correcting me if I mispronounce a word or phrase and reminds every time I make that same mistake so it sticks in my head forever. That way when I'm talking to my grandparents or other family members, I know how to speak properly.
My grandma is my role model because she has accomplished so much and been through so much in her life. She is a very beautiful person, but very stubborn in what she believes and wants. Its almost impossible to get her to change her mind. She is always telling me how proud she is of me and has pretty high expectations of me. My mom is also a role model for me because she had a rough childhood and after she started a family she went back to college she is still attending college now, she gives me motivation to never give up and reminds my of how good my life is
Many of us have role models in our lives and to most people role models are athletes and movie stars, but to me a role model is much more. To me a role model is a person who has positively influenced someone in life, and is not a person filled with selfishness and greed. They help shape someone’s personality, and characteristics. They are people who someone can look up to for advice in a hard situation, and know that they will give those words of wisdom. They will never judge our past actions, instead only look to help because they really care. A role model is someone who we should never feel awkward talking to about our problems. A perfect role model for me is my mother. She is a wonderful human being. She’s smart, wise, ambitious, patient and such a loving person. There are no words that can describe my gratitude towards her, but through this essay I will describe some of her characteristics that makes her my role model.
My dad is a hero to me because he shows me strength he explains the bad choices he has made in his life so that I can make the good choices. If it wasn’t for my mom and Jesus, my dad wouldn’t be who he is today. My dad is a man of honor to My Lord and Savior. He shows me that if I ever need help with a decision, I need to either go to him or ask God for help. When my dad started working here in Greeley, he, my mom, and I all had to make a decision to move up here. My mom and I didn’t get to see my dad a lot in Trinidad, so that’s when my mom said we were going to move up here to be him.
