The first fire related incident associated with the ‘Model S’ occurred in the state of Washington on October 1st, 2013. The media was quick to blow the incident out of context. Graphic pictures along with videos taken by bystanders who witnessed the incident started circulating via social media portals. Executives at Tesla were quickly reactive in taking action and addressing the issue. CEO Elon Musk personally took matters in his hands and addressed the media backlash via a blog post on the Tesla website two days after the incident (Model S Fire, Oct 4, 2013).
Elon used a specific style and tone in his response that explained the root cause of the fire, defending ‘Model S’ from an engineering stand point. He used language that was easy to comprehend. Doing so, he was able to put to rest a number of speculations and theories circulating in the media pertaining to the cause of the fire and spreading of the fire once the fire department got to the scene of the incident.
An excerpt from his response (Model S Fire, Oct 4, 2013) highlights his effective communication style as Musk states “Earlier this week, a Model S traveling at highway speed struck a large metal object, causing significant damage to the vehicle. A curved section that fell off a semi-trailer was recovered from the roadway near where the accident occurred and, according to the road crew that was on the scene, appears to be the culprit. Only a force of this magnitude would be strong enough to punch a 3 inch diameter hole through the quarter inch armor plate protecting the base of the vehicle.”
Tesla Motors took a step further by posting the email sent out by the Vice President of Sales to the owner of the vehicle that caught fire. Most likely, it was strategically post...

...rs Musk explicitly states, “We felt it was important to bring this risk down to virtually zero to give Model S owners complete peace of mind. Starting with vehicle bodies manufactured as of March 6, all cars have been outfitted with a triple underbody shield. Tesla service will also retrofit the shields, free of charge, to existing cars upon request or as part of a normally scheduled service.” In his usual out of the box thinking Musk took a step further to add to the credibility and transparency of the company’s efforts to satisfy its customers and investors by attaching videos of high speed cameras attached to the test vehicles to demonstrate the efficacy of the titanium shield on impact of road debris, metal objects and concrete. In doing so, Tesla Motors took all possible steps and measures to put to rest and further speculations associated with Model S fires.
The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire not only affected the city of New York, but also the rest of the country. It forever changed the way our country would look at safety regulations in factories and buildings. The fire proved to America what can and will happen if we over-look safety regulations and over-crowd buildings. Unfortunately, 146 lives are taken before we fully understand this concept.
In West Warwick Rhode Island, on February 20th, 2003, during the performance of the band Great White, a fire broke out that eventually claimed the lives of 100 people and injured an additional 200. The band’s tour manager arranged for, and ignited pyrotechnic props, large fireworks designed to display a shower of sparks. The sparks ignited foam soundproofing near stage. The fire spread quickly. Most were killed either in the crush to exit the building or overcome by fumes while trying to find an exit. The immediate cause was well documented due to witness reports and a videotape that was taken during the concert. In the period that followed the tragedy there were many attempts to fix blame. Following a Grand Jury investigation, several of the parties involved plead guilty to violations of the law and served or are currently sentences in prison.
On the fateful and unforgettable afternoon of June 17, 1972 Hotel Vendome experienced yet another fire. Actually it experienced several fires in different locations on this date. Electricians working on the first floor reported smoke coming from the upper floors, and a bartender reported smoke in the basement. All occupants in the basement café were safely escorted out, and 3 engine companies, 2 ladder companies, and 1 District Chief arrived on scene noticing ...
The fire, which began on October 8, 1871, spread so quickly it was unmanageable. One of the reasons the fire became so irrepressible is that the firefighters were already exhausted from having fought a fire the day before. The firemen underestimated the potential of this fire when they first responded to it. As a result of the fire the previous day, the firefighters’ equipment, including the fire hose, was not in the best condition. Furthermore, the hose that was available was in short supply (Murphy 30).
The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire is a turning point in history because, unions gained powerful alliances and people who wanted to fight for their safety. Which now in the U.S there is a set of guidelines that need to be follow to ensure the safety of the employees. He writes: “The Triangle fire of March 25, 1911, was for ninety years the deadliest workplace disaster in New York history—and the most important (Von Drehle 3).” Von Drehle emphasizes how important this event is in history and he draw comparisons to the to
...rting again. The fire itself was seen for miles and the heat was so intense that there was “hardly a building within a one block radius that was not scorched” (Reporter Front Page). Extinguished fire brands were found in all parts of the Eastern section of the city. Some brands were even found in Lakeside Park. The force of the gas explosions in the garage blew debris from E 2nd and Marr to half way down Ellis St. This shows just how large the fire actually was.
In the case, “Facing a Fire” prepared by Ann Buchholtz, there are several problems and issues to identify in determining if Herman Singer should rebuild the factory due to a fire or retire on his insurance proceeds. I believe that this case is about social reform and self-interest. I think that Singer needs to ask himself, what is in the firm’s best economic interests. There are several things to question within this case, what should Herman Singer do and why, should he rebuild the factory or begin retirement, if he rebuilds, should he relocate the firm to an area where wages are lower and what provisions, if any, should Singer make for his employees as well as for the community?
In the Model S, Tesla Motors integrated the battery pack into the ground of the vehicle, not like within the Roadster, that had the battery pack behind the seats. as a result of the battery is integrated into the ground of the Model S, no interior area is lost for batteries, not like in alternative electrical vehicles, which regularly lose trunk area or interior are a to batteries. The situation of the battery pack and therefore the lower ride of the Model S will place the battery at the next risk of being broken by road junk or a sway. To safeguard the battery pack, the Model S incorporates a quarter in. aluminum-alloy plate armour. The battery pack's location permits for fast battery swapping. battery swap will take as very little as ninety seconds within the Model S. There are presently no public Tesla battery swap locations.
There are several great traits about Tesla vehicles. The model S, which is Tesla’s first sedan, is Consumer Report’s “top pick” in the survey. Not only were they top pick in the sedan class vehicles, but they were also the overall top pick among consumers. This means that in a survey it ranked higher than GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, and many others. (LeBeau, Phillip) This is quite the accomplishment. One of the reasons for its highest picks is the car high safety ratings. The NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Tesla Model S a five star safety rating in every category and subcategory. They would’ve rated it even higher if they could; sadly, the NHTSA’s scoring system only goes up to five. There is another chance for the Model S to score higher. The VSS or the Vehicle Safety Score, which is the safety score given back to the manufactures gave the Model S a 5.4. This score is higher than any class of vehicle on the road ways to date and has the lowest risk of any injury front, side, rear, and rollover included. (LeBeau) This car is so incredibly safe that there are reports of the test equipment breaking before the car itself does. Tesla also has a quite controversial method for selling ...
The 2006 documentary about Who Killed the Electric Car shows the determination of several California citizens whose willpower was to keep the electric car alive and running. The first existence of the electric car under General Motors (GM) dates back to 1996 when they launched the EV1 electric vehicle. And although several consumers took to this new form of transportation, a car that was powered by an electric motor in place of the basic gasoline engine, GM decided to take back its newest technology and removed all existing EV1’s from off of the streets. With several upset consumers who were concerned as to both what GM and the government were up to and how they could get their cars back. Overall, the fact behind why the electric car became such a superior commodity and then vanished was the question being asked. The electric vehicle was destroyed during 2004 and 2005 because a car of this statue was far ahead of its time and greater parts of consumers were not about “going green.” Today the electric car has begun to revive itself because of the existence of global warming, and the efficiency of the electric car is rising. In other words, the electric car has been brought back to life, and many automobile manufacturers are gaining interest.
On June 12, 2014, Elon Musk shocked the business world by revealing that Tesla Motors will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who uses their technology in good faith (Desjardins, “10 Mind Blowing”). For those who don’t know who Elon Musk is, he is the CEO of SpaceX and the CEO of Tesla Motors. Electric vehicles have currently been creeping up on the world and are starting to become a big thing. One company that I think is leading the movement of electric vehicles is Tesla Motors. At the moment Tesla has three different car models that will all be available by at least 2020. Listed on teslamotors.com there is a Tesla model S that comes in three different battery sizes, the Tesla model X which will be released in 2016, and then the

The Pinto Fires Case centers around events that transpired more than 30 years ago. The impact of these events proved extremely important to America business history. Fortune Magazine called it one of the 20 business decisions that “helped create the business world as it is today.” (Managing Business Ethics: Straight Talk About How to Do It Right) The resulting aftermath directly contributed to the development of both consumer activism and protection. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall after dozens of hoverboards began to spark, smoke and overheat. In December of last year, videos and pictures of hoverboards catching fire in houses and malls began to surface on the internet.
...r it is arson, an uncontrolled camp fire, or a cigarette butt it doesn’t take much for humans to spark a disaster. Yet there is as well a few set by good old Mother Nature. On top of the effects on the earth as well as humans, there is only one thing we all can do and that is listen to our old pal Smokey the Bear when he says, “only you can prevent wildfire.”
