They bring their own reputation upon themselves. Almost all teen relationships are looked down upon because of the way majority of them work. Typically, it’s a boy and a girl. They’re moderately young and don’t really know what they want. Major are much too young to even know where they want to go in life, more so who they want to be with. For instance, the boyfriend is talking to another girl, the girlfriend gets really mad and is likely to start drama with that girl and confront her boyfriend. The ten developmental stages of a relationship can be used to pinpoint exactly where two individuals are within their relationship. The ten stages; initiating, experimenting, intensifying, integrating, bonding, differentiating, circumscribing, stagnating, avoiding, and terminating, describe the coming together of a relationship, the normal maintenance of said relationship, and finally the coming apart of the relationship. My closest friendship is in the integrating stage as overtime we have developed similar identities to one another and are constantly with one another every day. An example within the book is “Sure, we’ll spend Thanksgiving with your family,” which I find amusing because last year I was invited over to both his family’s Thanksgiving
Dating use to be simple. Two people get to know each other, go on a few dates, and then one day they decide to be boyfriend and girlfriend. However, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore. The term “Dating” is getting used less every day. Dating is a thing of the past because it takes a longer process for two people to determine if they are ready to commit, the term “talking” has replaced the word dating, and because people don't stay fully committed to one person anymore.
Do you believe in happy endings? Once in a person’s lifetime, everyone finds this one perfect person whom they fall hopelessly in love with and live happily ever after. That is a mere fallacy, in the real world, this simply does not happen. Yes, people do have common interests and therefore develop romantic involvement, but it is basic common sense that these relationships have a life span and simply cannot last. There are certain people who aren’t meant to fit into your life in the long-term no matter how much you want them to. Sometimes people come into your life to shake you up, tear apart your ego, flip your perspective, show your obstacles, break your heart and mind open. The cause of a breakup can be due to various reasons such as cheating, falling out of love, quarrelling or the lack of communication.
Throughout most of my life I have gained friendships and relationships with others that have turned into long term, but others which only lasted a short while. The friendship that has greatly impacted my life significantly over the last eight years is someone who means so much to me. This meaningful friendship all started back when I was in middle school, which has grown stronger over the years. I met Brooke in middle school because we had some of the same classes and were in homeroom together. Our friendship developed quickly and lasted throughout our high school years. We became really close our Junior and Senior year of high school. But, maintaining our friendship hasn’t always been so easy. Today, we text and call each other on our free time, but I know I can count and rely on her when I need someone to talk too. I call her my second sister and vice versa. And when we go home on breaks we see one another as much as we can. The best part of our relationship is that if one is in need of advice or in need of a shoulder to cry on, we are always there for one another. Keeping in contact is very important in our relationship and communication has played a key role in our relationship.
My freshman experience was by far the longest and most difficult time in the four years I spent at American Heritage High School. I did not know one person in my entire high school when I got there so it was a difficult task to make friends. The first few weeks in high school I was so miserable. The hardest time of freshman year was probably overhearing other students I went to school with talking about an amazing party they went too on the first weekend of high school. This was extremely tough for me considering that I was not invited to this party and that weekend, I had just stayed home and watched a movie. During my freshman year there were certain activities designed to help new students make friends. I went to
“Relationships are what make up our world today, they shape the ways we see things and the way that we do things, relationships affect how we see the world today”. I believe supporting what your partner does, having a great sum of trust and showing your affections towards your partner is what will make a healthy relationship great.
As humans, we are constantly building relationships with others and meeting new people, but sometimes it 's hard to maintain a relationship with another person, when only one person is engaged in it. All healthy relationships or friendships should be based upon the concepts of caring, supporting, and spending time with each other, and if one person is not able to provide these concepts towards the other person, then the relationship quickly becomes one-sided.
Myths of adolescence are perpetuated because adults do not spend the time and effort learning about normal, expected changes during this period. It is much easier for us to put a label on people rather than to try to understand them. The teen years are truly "high speed, high need" years.
