First, a teenager always feels it is necessary to be just like everyone else. You may wonder why this is true. Well, if a teenager went to school dressed in their favorite style of clothing, they may feel like an outcast compared to everyone else. Why does this matter? Most teenagers do not like to stick out or be center of attention when it comes to their peers. Drawing attention can get them bullied for trying to be their own person. Silly, right? In the article Teenage Fashion: What’s Cool Now?, the article reads “Teens are more concerned with what their peers are wearing than anything else.” Fashion does not seem like that big of a deal to little kids and adults, but in a person's teen years, it is everything. Fashion shows off one's personality.
It shows how creative one can be and much more. In the article Why is Fashion So Important to Teens these Days?, it states “Teens use fashion to fit in. This causes them to struggle in their life.” Doing what the people around you do, such as wearing the same kind of clothing, can put a negative effect on one's self. It may lower your self-esteem or cause you to think you should not be who you are.
It helps them make a statement, and show who they really are as individuals. Today teens express their true selves through clothing, music, etc.
Self-expression is of importance in any child’s life, but self-expression shouldn’t be a detriment. In my opinion, the way this generation dresses now is definitely harming their character and reputation. Many business professionals, professors, and more find this way of dressing offensive. Parents face endless amounts of criticism, and backfire for allowing their child (ren) to step of their home in such a fashion. It’s also harmful to future generations, because they follow in the footsteps of those older than them. Children learn by exa...
Young people need more attention or acceptance from others comparing with people at other stages, as youths are experiencing a process of being adults. The formation of identity can be exemplified through fashion. Young people tend to establish their identities through the way they dress. As Hall,S (1997) stated, visible objects, like clothes may have a simple physical function, that is to cover the body and protect it from weather, however clothes also have a function which can double up as signs, which construct a meaning and carry a message. Fashion can also be a language that makes clothing possible become a self-communicative device at our disposal, plays a...
Individuality is a way of expressing oneself, there are many ways besides clothing to accomplish. “Clothing, as a sign, conveys information about values, beliefs, and emotions. If the clothing that adolescents wear can be considered a sign, then one can perceive their clothes as an expression of personal identity” (Brunsma). “Make your own friends, form your own opinions and shape your own beliefs, even if you’re forced to look like everyone else” (Fetzer). But students can be individual in the classes they take like creative writing and also when deciding who they want to be friends
High school is typically a time when kids begin to distinguish themselves from one another. Students begin to develop their own sense of personal style, desperately trying to both fit in and stand out simultaneously. Being self-conscious and often lacking the confidence needed to assert themselves, teens are forced to use clothing and outward appearance as the means to manifest this individuality. Thus, students should not be forced to wear uniforms to school. Standard uniforms are unproven deterrents to student violence; are a "Band-Aid" to cover up the real problems faced by children and teens; and they violate students' right of self-expression, depriving them of their search for identity.
Many students lose self esteem when they can’t express themselves. Therefore students should not be required to wear uniforms. This is necessary because most students would like to show their style and technique. In addition, uniforms limit the freedom of expression for students in school. Furthermore, uniforms are expensive and parents may not be able to afford clothing that can be worn at school and home. Finally, students should not be forced to wear
Fashion is a form people use as a way for self expression. For me, fashion dictates how a person sense of style is; some may be bold and loud or simple and calm in which it also gives others an outlook on how their character may be. Although fashion is a way to express ones’ sense of style it does not tells us who the person is personally. Fashion in the society of the 1900s has changed female gender roles then and now by the way their roles changed during the time.
...t they have a freedom of choice and will buy clothes and items that appeal to their own eyes and clothes that look good on them. Many teens have personal styles and their choice of clothes is based on that style and not what an advertisement is telling them to look like.
Kids and teens have the right to pick out what they wear, sure it may take a bit longer, but in the long run it is worth it. Everyone has the right to express themselves freely and by the way they look. It can tell what kind of person they are. Think about it, you go into a school that has uniforms you see everyone wearing the same stuff who is who? What kind of personality could they have, maybe one like being a brick in the wall. Walk into a school without uniforms and you can instantly tell anyone’s personality by what they wear, so they express their emotions through their clothing.
Fashion is a currently valued style of appearance and behavior. It is a way to shape one’s external custom. The history of fashion dates back to hundred years ago and it has seen a remarkable progress in the 21st century. Man has endeavored a lot to bring new changes according to style and elegance that suits his needs and desires. Apparently, our culture is inclined towards fashion and change in the former brings change in the latter. When we talk about Pakistan, from the independence day of August 14, 1947 up-to-date, it has been a society in transition and being dynamic in nature, it isconsequently ever-changing and its patterns are transforming from time to time.
Fashion is an interesting thing. It is often said that it is recycled. I have even heard people from different generations say “ I use to wear that back in my day”. I find it so fascinating, that I would sit and wonder if the clothes that I am wearing now was once the style of previous generations in my family. Through the years, fashion has been created, recycled and even it even faded away. Have the fashion trends throughout the generations of my family followed any parts of the cycle?
Following fashion styles in order to be trendy and to look different and stylish in front of others by wearing different types of clothes and accessories. Fashion can be viewed in people’s style of outlook personality with clothing and hairstyle, style of living and behaving, along with the area of personal interest. Today’s youths are totally influenced by new fashion trends. Fashion brings an interesting twist in our boring life which makes us with feeling of confidence and up to date according to this changing environment. Youth generation is totally affected by this glamorous world of fashion. Their dressing style, hair style, accessories, language and personality all shows that how much they are influenced by fashion.
However, I believe that school is a place to learn and that students can wear their own clothes and parade their style after school. How can people assume that personality is all about fashion? An individual’s personality is not entirely expressed by fashion itself. Personality is assuredly determined by the way a person thinks, speaks and moves. Teenagers must understand that wearing a school uniform neither defines their personality nor erases it. It brings equality between everyone. Unfortunately, kids have forgotten about the real reason for going to school and focus on outward show and popularity. They suppose schools have become more about fashion and social interactions and not about focusing on their learning. Adolescents must comprehend the importance of focusing on their learning and understand that schools are not fashion shows. So, to complete my point I believe that a badge defines it all: “Wearing school uniform means we are all in this
Being or feeling different from the other kids around me was the last thing that I wanted. For some odd reason, I pictured high school to be like in the movies. From that image, I wanted no part of the downside of the years, which basically meant that I did not want to be judged or looked at weirdly as I walked the hallways. Starting from my freshman to my senior year, it was all about the looks. The majority of the students that I hung around heavily focused on their appearance with brand named clothes. Being clueless, I conformed to these students and did the same. Hard earned money that I saved from my parents were wasted on clothes and sneakers that I did not even
Fashion is a controversial issue in society nowadays. We live in a consumerism advanced era in which whether following fashion trends or not has become a debatable point. Many people believe that it is important to follow fashion trends. For example, Lord Chesterfield once said, “If you are not in fashion, you are nobody.” The question is why fashion should be an essential matter of concern to all of us. As far as I am concerned, each person should be able to decide if one wants to follow a trend or not.
