The show teen mom inspires teen pregnancy. Although the amount of teen pregnancy dropped since the show started, Shows like 16 and pregnant(teen mom) shouldn’t continue to be played on television(MTV), because they Encourage teen pregnancy, Glamorizes teen pregnancy and only play shows for views.
The show 16 and pregnant currently known as teen mom encourages teen pregnancy. Easily influenced teens shouldn't watch the show. “Girls who watched “16 and Pregnant,” when compared with the control group, reported a lower perception of their own risk for pregnancy and a greater perception that the benefits of teen pregnancy outweigh the risks, said Aubrey, an associate professor in the UA Department of Communication”. If MTV continues to televise

“Teen Mom have appeared in various media outlets and on the covers of celebrity magazines, with some reports indicating that they earn hundreds of thousands of dollars for participating in the shows. Critics have thus argued that, far from being cautionary tales, the programs glamorize teen pregnancy and encourage young girls to engage in promiscuous sex.”If teens are exposed to glamorized pregnancies then they will want to have children. Having children at young ages will lead to dropping out of school.if teens drop out of school then they won't have very many job opportunities and if they don't have jobs then they won't be able to provide for children. “National Bureau of Economic Research asserts that the popular show reduced teen births by nearly six percent just in 2010. Although, teen pregnancy dropped 10% in 2010”. Just because teen births are falling when the show was starting doesn’t mean one caused the other. The show still inspired teens to have children either because they wanted to be on the show or because the glamorization appealed to them.“Whitney Purvis, who was featured on 16 and Pregnant, told Chang and Patria, "There's actually two girls who got pregnant [just to be on the show] and MTV had to wind up picking either one of them. And so they picked one of them and then the other one, you know, is just sitting home.” When MTV stops playing Teen mom, fewer teens will be exposed to glamorized pregnancy. This will actually help decrease the number of teen pregnancies

...he realization of having sex to young and getting pregnant. Even though these shows reveal some struggle that these young girls have being pregnant and having to raise a child at a young age, I also believe it shows the fascination of it, young girls are impressionable and they only see the families helping these girls, the fun to play dress up and buy nice things for a baby. To a girl that may just want to feel loved or have something to love these shows may give the wrong impression of the way to receive it. I do not believe any show of this nature can help the generation of the girls today. I believe any television show or music that exploits sex, nudity, or body image should be banned or never published to save this generation. Social media needs to have stricter bans with signing up to their sites to try and eliminate under age children to experience it.

As many may know, television has become less cautious as to what is being showed. Television shows are now revealing certain aspects and situations that should not be displayed. One show that has grown to be a major problem is Bad Girls’ Club, created by Jonathan Murray. A blogger by the name of Bea Blessing states that, “The Bad Girls’ Club is definitely an American reality television line that parodies womanhood and follows the lives regarding seven ladies with several personalities, behavior and subconscious problems, as they live collectively in a house while in three months.” This show undermines females on many different levels, and it is indeed a show that thrives on negativity. These seven ladies live together for three months, have no job, and display immoral behavior. In fact, during a 30-minute episode, you can expect to find grown women constantly fighting, using provocative language, drinking and partying excessively, and even transporting random men from the club to in and out of their home. This type of content is a major problem because adolescents feel the need to believe that this behavior is acceptable. As a result, children show an increase in violence and a chance that they will engage in sex prematurely. Children, as well as teenagers, are receptive to what they see on television; therefore, they are more likely to mimic that type of behavior.
The MTV series 16 And Pregnant and its follow up series titled Teen Mom is a documentary like series that first aired in 2009 on June 11 and since then has had many seasons and sequels to follow it. Each episode in the series focuses on several young girls for 5-7 moths while they have to deal with the struggle of teenage pregnancy and “life after labor”. The initial idea or the show was to promote teen pregnancy prevention but, with many of the girls behaving scandalously and recklessly during the series, the show has become one of the most controversial on MTV.
Many people find themselves thinking “what did they just say” or “That is so inappropriate” when watching TV. Especially when watching shows on MTV. There’s a controversy about whether shows on MTV such as “16 and Pregnant”, “Teen Mom”, and “Jersey Shore” glamorize or prevent destructive behaviors in teens.
Teen Mom II is the second incarnation of MTV's number one rated reality series 16 and Pregnant. The show documents the lives of four teenage mothers as they struggle to cope with the burden of childrearing in a financially demanding society while trying to navigate through the journey of adolescence. Once catering to a music oriented teenage consumer, MTV has reinvented itself as a teen reality television powerhouse, with many of its reality shows, including Teen Mom II, consistently dominating in the ratings. Although advertisers eagerly race to gain the attention of the much sought after 18-49 demographic, critics question the stereotypes that may be reinforced through the television program and the negative sociological effects, the show could have on its viewers.
When it comes to the topic of “16 and pregnant," most of us will readily agree that it is a debatable topic amongst teens and adults. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether, 16 and pregnant promotes or discourage teen pregnancy. Whereas some are convinced that it does not discourage, others maintain that it promotes teen pregnancy, because some girls just want to get pregnant to become famous. I agree that the show promotes teen pregnancies because, the show does not show how it really like to be a teen mom.
By exposing the flourishing mind of a teenager to unrealistic norms, television is molding the mind to develop impractical expectations. In the media teenagers are often times portrayed as party crazy, sex-addict, drop outs when realistically the number of students that live up to this image is quite low. When being exposed to a television culture of students that party non-stop, travel, and par-take in activities most don’t it gives the very hormonal mind of a teenager something known as “the fear of missing out”. When watching other teens on television focus on anything but school it gets teenagers wondering why they aren’t doing the same, giving them the feeling that they are missing out on things in life. As teenagers the job is to go to school to prepare for college and then the fun will come, but whilst being exposed to high school students that drink, smoke, skip school and still “get by” it gets teens thinking why they can’t do the same. This unrealistic ideology stems from the inaccurate portrayal of teens in the media. We are not exposed to the average teens yet the small fraction of teens with extremely financially inclined parents. This is not a realistic
Teen pregnancy, in my opinion, is awful. I feel that young women should not be having children at such a young age. I feel that these teenagers that are having babies are children themselves, and do not know how to take care of them as well as an older, more mature person might.
Did you know that 3 in 10 teen girls in the United States will get pregnant at least once before they turn 20 years old? (“Teen Pregnancy”). Or that most teenagers want to be pregnant before they are 20 years old. In 2009 approximately 410,00 teens aged 15-19 gave birth in the United States and the teen birth rate remains higher than other developing countries (“Pazol”). The most shocking news to many teens having kids is that childbearing cost the United States about 9 billion annually and that the national teen birth rate was 39.1 birth per 1,000 and 37% decrease from 61.8 per 1,000 lowest in all records (“Pazol”). Many Teen moms do not carry on their education after they have the baby. Also the media has portrayed teen pregnancy to look like an enjoyable experience in a young girl’s life. 8 out of 10 fathers with leave their baby and the mother once they found out about having a baby or when the baby comes. Teenage Pregnancy changes people’s lives in several ways but also has a negative effect on many teenagers’ body images. In addition helping teens get back on track with their goals and there future’s is very significant for the strong women they are about to become.
According to a poll of 10 to 16 year olds done by the advocacy group Children Now, "77 percent say that there is too much premarital sex on T.V., while 62 percent say sex on T.V. and in movies influences kids to have sex when they are too young" (Clark, "Sex, Violence"). The influences of the media is felt everywhere and especially in terms of human sexuality. Everything from TV commercials to the newspaper has some form of sex in it, usually to keep the audience interested. In modern society, the changing times as well as media executives wanting more ratings(and therefore money) have lead to teenagers more willing to try sexual acts at a younger age and the country being more openminded about sexual issues.
What made Rome a great society. Throughout Rome’s existence, they went through many changes, leaders, and ideals. The question is, how through all the turmoil, civil wars, and changes in their society were they able to survive, and in many cases, thrive to become the empire they are so richly written about in history books, in addition to adopting many of the customs created by the Romans?

It is interesting to notice that two popular medias come together to make an impact in a cause. Although, initially when these shows were aired, many believed they are only going to contribute to the problem. However, as the shows progressed, the curiosity among the teens increased to learn the outcome of the teen’s life in the stories. The teens started communicating with their friends through the social media on what they have seen in these shows. As the show progressed, it did not only show the reality of the social and economic hardships faced by teen moms after giving birth to a child at a very young age but also educated teens by making them realize the hardship that lie ahead of a pregnancy. The critical part of realization comes from the discussions with their social media friends and the discouragement they receive which helps in educating the teens of pregnancy. This is evident from a spike in the Twitter and Facebook activities among teen population following the day of the shows.
Sexual activity in the mass media is another negative influence on teenagers. The first example is early sexual intercourse. According to Stockwell, a research shows that teenagers who are exposed to a lot of sexual content on television are more to likely to have sex by 16 years of age than those with limited exposure.
