Through many changes in technology it has had an huge impact on how childbirth has changed. New technology has affected everything in this fast pace world we live in. In the olden days Women used to have their children at home or at someone’s house. Making things so dangerous but at the time that’s all that they had or that they could afford. In the 21st century they have created many things to help make the childbirth process as simple as possible. This has had such a positive effect on the safety of delivering babies. There are many things that could go wrong while a women is in the laboring process. Preparing for childbirth is a long process that has to be planned out. A family expecting a newborn has many options to look at they …show more content…
It has also changed women’s expectations for the delivery process. In our modernized world women have different expectations when it come to childbirth. Women used to find out they were pregnant and never see a doctor until they were having the baby. They didn’t know of anything else, they would keep working and keep on with life like there was not a human growing inside of them. Now women expect so much, they expect the full nine months to be filled with doctor's appointments, test to make sure the baby is healthy. Compared to the olden days, Technology has almost minimized fatalities due to not being able to know what kind of care the baby would need right after delivery. It has also allowed women to be able to plan their pregnancy, which is wonderful. Some women can have complications which can cause them to not be able to conceive the natural way. There are other ways a woman can still have a child if the natural ways don’t work. Technology has created many things that take that away, we have knew things like artificial insemination, which is where they take eggs from the women and sperm from a man and put them together, then they implant them in the women. They plant at least 10 at a time to ensure at least one of them for sure

They believe the only issue is with the fertility clinic not doing their part in creating a sound environment that is geared developing a child not money centered. The third author’s outlook lead more towards providing counseling as a direction for the couple’s situation. They believe that its necessary to seek outside help to provide guidance on handling this matter. The stress, tension, and uncertainty that is arising in the individuals that are involves needs a middle man of a professional background to give insight them on how to handle these matters. The last author displayed his opinion as focuses more on incorporating all parties in the process of child birth. The author believes that everyone should not only consider the importance it has on one’s self, on the unborn, and

...other can move around more freely and find positions that help her stay comfortable during labor. Natural child birth is also a very intimate process. Your partner can be involved in the process as you work together to manage your pain (2013, November).
In doing this project the literature drawn from is largely non-scholarly for the reason that I am prevailing upon the reader to think outside the box about birth. Most of the “scholarly” research that is available was written by doctors or nurses/nurse midwives who were trained in the medical model of birth. Since part of my premise is that the high rate of Cesarean sections is caused in part by viewing birth as a medical and therefore pathological event, and in part for its emergence as a capitalistic industry, it was then necessary to find literature written by people who have expertise in birthing though not from the traditional obstetrical/medical school approach.
Reflection Paper 1 Timothy Jenkins CEP 215 New Mexico State University Upon viewing “More Business of Being Born” (Epstein, 2011), I learned a lot about the different pros and cons of Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). Women are often deprived of the choice of the method of delivery of their children after they’ve previously had a cesarean birth. The cause of this is that there exists medical fright about a rupture of the uterus which often leads to the death of mother and baby (Epstein, 2011). In the mid twentieth century, it became common saying that “once a cesarean, always a cesarean” came about. This saying perpetrated the fear and understanding that women have to go about having another cesarean, depriving them of choice (Epstein, 2011).
Birth is a normal, physiological process, in which a woman’s body naturally prepares to expel the fetus within. It has occurred since the beginning of time. Unfortunately, childbirth has gradually evolved into what it is today - a highly managed whirlwind of unwarranted interventions. Jennifer Block, a journalist with over twelve years experience, has devoted herself to raising awareness regarding the authenticity of the Americanized standard of care in obstetrics, while guiding others to discover the truth behind the medical approach to birth in this country. In her book, Pushed: The Painful Truth About Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care, Jennifer Block brings forth startling truths concerning this country’s management of birth.
The biggest decision a new mother has to make is not what to name the baby nor is it which hospital to deliver at. The biggest decision to make is in fact whether she is going to breastfeed or formula feed. Many women choose to formula feed because they aren't very educated on breastfeeding or because they feel they can't due to the fact that they failed the first time or times that they tried to do so. If they were aware of all of the benefits of breastfeeding, I feel that more mothers would breastfeed rather than formula feed. Three benefits of breastfeeding are that it is healthy for both mom and baby, it builds a stronger bond, and it is more convenient. If more information is given to new mothers, it would help them make the best
The version of childbirth that we’re used to is propagated by television and movies. A woman, huge with child, is rushed to the hospital when her water breaks. She is ushered into a delivery room and her husband hovers helplessly as nurses hook her up to IVs and monitors. The woman writhes in pain and demands relief from the painful contractions. Narcotic drugs are administered through her IV to dull the pain, or an epidural is inserted into the woman’s spine so that she cannot feel anything below her waist. When the baby is ready to be born, the doctor arrives dressed in surgical garb. The husband, nurses and doctor become a cheerleading squad, urging the woman to, “Push!” Moments later, a pink, screaming newborn is lifted up for the world to see. Variations on this theme include the cesarean section, where the woman is wheeled to the operating room where her doctors remove the baby through an incision in her abdomen.
Many women today are doing more C-sections, also known as cesarean, than they are natural. Whether the reasons being because it’s more convenient or that some moms did not really have a choice, the percentage is still growing. “The cesarean delivery rate increased from 26% to 36.5% between 2003 and 2009; 50.0% of the increase was attributable to an increase in primary cesarean delivery (National Partnership for Women & Families, 201.)” There are many things to consider when deciding which is the right or safer choice. With both choices comes risks for the baby like, possible respiratory problems with a C-section. The mom has many risks to worry about for herself as well, like possibly hemorrhaging. There is also the recovery and the long-term effects that a woman has to put into consideration. They both have their pros and cons that should not be taken lightly.
Over the years birthing methods have changed a great deal. When technology wasn’t so advanced there was only one method of giving birth, vaginally non-medicated. However, in today’s society there are now more than one method of giving birth. In fact, there are three methods: Non-medicated vaginal delivery, medicated vaginal delivery and cesarean delivery, also known as c-section. In the cesarean delivery there is not much to prepare for before the operation, except maybe the procedure of the operation. A few things that will be discussed are: the process of cesarean delivery, reasons for this birthing method and a few reasons for why this birthing method is used. Also a question that many women have is whether or not they can vaginally deliver after a cesarean delivery, as well as the risks and benefits if it. Delivering a child by a c-section also has a few advantages and disadvantages for both the mother and child; this will also be discussed in more depth a bit later.
This paper will examine three of the areas associated with planning a newborn child, including single parenting, concerns and expectations parents have when planning for and having a child, and financial issues that mothers face when planning a pregnancy. (Specify if you are talking about single moms or parents/couples, if talking about all of them you might want to consider narrowing your research.)
I believe that technology allows us to research and expand our knowledge, whether the information we obtain is factual or not. I do believe that these influences can be both positive and negative. For the younger generations who are not being taught about safe sex and methods of prevention, it worries me. The media portrays sex every day, hundreds of times. Youth are not blind to this and many have access to social media where they can actually contribute, see, and assess sexual content. This could result in negative consequences like teen pregnancy issues. “In addition, a recent study revealed that early exposure to sexual content doubled the risk of teen pregnancy,” (Strasburger,
Over the last few decades, technology has greatly increased its abilities. It started from the simple radio to now having cell phones which can surf the web. Technology has greatly influenced our society in many ways. Nowadays it has made family relationships have a different connection and has simplified people’s lives. A couple decades ago, a person would never had imagined to Skype a family member across the world. It would be like trying to imagine teleportation. It was unthinkable, but with moderation, technology has evolved for the better. With the new technology in our world, people are able to talk to their distant family members. People are also able to save time and watch a movie with their extra time. There are pros and cons to having technology nowadays. Yes, people are able to communicate faster and save money, but technology is also disconnecting them from the people around them. Technology has changed humanity for the better, but humans must know to use technology in moderation.
It all begins with the pregnancy of the mother and determining if there are any complications during prenatal care. Prenatal care not only improves pregnancy; in fact, it helps the mother understand and determine what is right and wrong for the baby. Most individuals are not familiar with the different types of labors and may only think that there is only one type. Childbirth can come in many ways, such as a C-section, which can occur if the mother did not take care of herself while pregnant. The most common birth is natural or vaginal birth. There are three stages when it comes to childbirth: dilation, delivery of the baby, and placenta. Even though childbirth and/or labor may be a beautiful and unforgettable moment, there can be different types of delivery, which can all be determined from the mother’s health during pregnancy. Some deliveries may process smoothly and other may encounter complications; however, all of these aspects and characteristics are what conceives a new human being. It is incredible and unbelievable how labor conveyed every individual to this planet. Childbirth is a beautiful and natural way of human creation and if some mothers had complications during pregnancy that just makes everything and everyone
