Christian Lous Lange once said, “Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master.” By this quote he wants to demonstrate how good technology to our society, making things that were hard to do, as communicating with each other, easier and more practical. This, however, might have some bad ramifications in the future, with technology being used everywhere and people relying on it to do all work for them. An example of that is portrayed in the story There Will Come Soft Rains, on which the author Ray Bradbury brings this perspective of a full smart home where the family that used to live in it didn’t have to do any work, because the house already did for them. These consequences are just examples of what technology is causing and what will cause to the future of the world. Also, it’s highlighted in the article Why Reliance on Technology is a Bad Thing, the author John M. Grohol tries to convince the reader that people are already too dependent on technology by saying, “This integrated component that so many people have become dependent upon, I am sometimes a little worried or concerned.” (Grohol). He demonstrates his concern about this topic of relying on computers and technology in general to do everything, such as engineers not sketching their works anymore; and if there’s a power outage, they can’t continue their work because they need the computers to do so. This subject is also portrayed in the novel by Ray Bradbury, on which he writes about a family who doesn’t have to do many things because the house can do those things; with one example being opening and locking up the doors which in today’s society is starting to become usual and often present in many houses.
