Over time people grew, which meant so did technology. They advanced with knowledge and engineering to create the best and most improved sources for humanity for everyone. Not being connected to the world makes you old? Or better yet, extinct. Being connected to the web can easily break or make a person. Being connected can come in different ways and sizes, such as having a docking station (computer) at home or even having a watch on your arm that could process the same thing. Being connected to the world maybe be a good or bad line, it all depends on how the user views it.
Technology, and by technology I mean your everyday gadgets and toys such as mobile devices, laptops and other devices used in this process is what connects people. Technology has improved so drastically over the past years, it has replaced most of our daily tools such a books, documents even couple consoles.
At one stage, normal phones you used to send messages and make calls were not allowed in school. Nowadays schools encourage students to attend class with smartphones and tablets. Why thou? Today’s students love technology so they are sure to be interested in learning if they can use the tools they love. Having a love for something they do can really give them a motive to work on and gain more experience. Technology plays a very important role in today’s society. Everyone has a smart phone and we crave the latest and greatest televisions, computers, cell phones and tablets. Some of these include iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Samsung Smart TVs, Samsung Smart watches and the new Google Glass. More and more schools are using technology in their teaching methods including our own one-to-one program at Oxon Hill High School where each student received a Samsung Google Chromebook. Technology should be used in school’s curriculum and instruction because of improved communication, innovations to come and convenience to both the students and the teachers.
According to Jack Tessier, in his article “Student Impressions of Academic Cell Phone Use in the Classroom”, said that, “Students felt that cell phone use helped their learning, was not a distraction, helped them enjoy the class, improved their attendance a little, and promoted their success” (Figure 1b). This means with the cell phone, people can see the difference in education between the past and the present day. For example, if ten years ago students had to bring books when they went to school, they are now able to read books directly on their phones because many famous technology companies such as Apple and Samsung have designed electronic books, better known as e-books. By permitting the use of cellphones in school, students can increase their knowledge and complete school work by using applications and other features on their smartphones. Teachers and students are now “using their phones as clickers to answer questions, providing feedback on student progress, and also to document labs, collaborate on group projects and capture teachers’ notes” (Higgins). Students like to do things the fun way, and by using their phones as clickers, they can learn and review for tests while having fun answering them on their phones.
