I feel the technological advances we have today are bad for humanity. I believe so because a number of inventions such as cellphones, televisions, and iPods are what causes a multitude of people to be isolated from others. For example, because they are alarmingly immersed in their own little world, a lot of people nowadays prefer to text or instant message a friend who is in the same room as them rather than speak to that person. This type of behavior contributes to the lack of social skills amongst the general populace which is responsible for the loss of the ability to read facial expressions and other forms of body language. Another reason why I believe the technological advances we have today are bad for humanity is because people develop addictions to inventions which would not have been created if it had not been for such progress. People are reliant on devices like their cellphones to the point where they are incapable of functioning in a normal way without them. Studies have been conducted which show people who have had their cellphones …show more content…
At home, I spend most of my time either typing up homework on Notes or playing games on my iPad. Because I am on my iPad for a considerable amount of time every day, I am being exposed to blue light which impacts my health in a rather negative fashion. Blue light is so harmful towards me because this type of light is responsible for my not being able to sleep as peacefully as I would like. Since our bodies associate this color of light with daytime, blue light is able to overpower a hormone by the name of melatonin whose job is to help regulate an individual's sleep when released into the bloodstream. Therefore, my mind each night is just as active it was during the day which, much to my annoyance, renders me not only incapable of falling asleep as soon as get in bed, but staying asleep for a long period of

Forty-one years ago on April 7, 1973, Motorola engineer Martin Cooper changed the world by making the world’s first cell phone call. With a 10-inch-long, 2.5-pound phone nicknamed “the brick” he called his engineering nemesis at the much bigger company Bell Labs (Here& Now, 2014). The phone gave 30 minutes of talk time after 10 hours of recharging and it cost a grand total of $3995. In those days, the average middle-class person could not afford to buy a mobile phone. When thinking of killing, drugs and nudity, I’m pretty sure not many people think of positive ideas. Electronics, such as television and computers, show these kinds of things regularly. Despite this explicit material, some people see the constantly improving technology as a wonderful addition to our lives. Yet as time passes, more and more people start to have doubts about what these developments in technology are leading to. These inventions often show explicit and inappropriate material which corrupts children, and are slowly ruining society’s social skills.
It’s impossible to walk around the streets without seeing someone texting. The World Bank says, “Three quarters of people on earth have access to a mobile phone.” Cell phones are a part of our everyday lives. Our society is obsessed with communication. Technology has some positives and negatives.

Is technology dangerous for society? Do you believe long term technological advances will ultimately ruin us? Technology has been evolving at a rapid pace through the twenty first century. Growing up in the nineties, I single handily witnessed how the tech world made leaps and advances in a matter of years. Many technological innovations have helped the world make a better place, but would too much of a good thing bad for us? Will technology be the downfall of society and our planet in the near future? Many people believe technology is harmful for our planet and our future for various reasons and there are others that have become so distracted by it that they don’t believe that it could ever cause any harm until it’s too late.
Albert Einstein once said, “It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.” This quote is fully representative of society today. It has distracted us from..... One second my best friend just texted me… Ok what was I saying?.. Oh right; It has distracted us from our studies, our loved ones, and even our driving. Technology is making us less intelligent, oblivious to our surroundings, and antisocial.

When this happens, it can endanger the proper development of the personality and hamper the social relationships needed for life together in society. The more we succumb towards technology, the less personality we are capable of retaining. It`s come to the point that the smaller our devices get, the smaller our brains get as well. Technology has vastly improved over just a short amount of time, and societies` dependence on it is strengthened more and more with every day that passes. Yes, it makes life "easier", but the easy way out isn`t always the best way. People don`t just depend on their technology for help anymore. It has come to the point where they depend on it to survive.
Every day of our lives, we watch as technology advances in leaps and bounds, so it was only logical when the cell phone came into existence, it would also be necessary to develop ways for a phone to be more than just a phone. Whether it be checking emails, updating social networks or even playing games, smartphones seem to do it all. There is, however, a dark side to every technological advance that is made, to everything that makes our lives more convenient. Smartphones are not only an enormous distraction in our lives but are also known to cause health problems in those
