Bang! A gunshot rings in your ear as a student next to you gets shot. With nothing to defend yourself with you run away hoping not to get hit. This scenario can change if teachers carry guns, they could of defended it. A lot of school shootings have been happening over the past few years. Many schools don’t have away to defend themself, but if schools started to let teachers carry guns then students won’t be scared to go to school. With teachers carrying guns schools will become safer. Many of Texas schools guardian programs have eased fears of armed students walking into schools (Green and Fernandez). Teachers carrying a gun in schools will give them away to respond to danger (Corsi). This will also lower the chance of school shootings because now the teachers can fight back. A florida state legislative approved $67 million dollars in school marshall programs to train and arm teachers (Corsi). Giving teachers the right training and equipment will give schools the chance to fight back to threats. Giving teachers chance to help better protect their students will make everyone feel a lot better about going to school. Plus if something did happen the teachers would know what to do. Less shootings will happen if teachers carry guns. More than 100 school districts in texas have let teachers carry guns (Green and Fernandez). Having more teachers carry guns will make it so less shootings happen because the students know that the teachers are carrying guns and will fight back. After the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting, 10 states have let teachers carry guns on school grounds (Green and Fernandez). This is good for stopping school treats because the more protection the less people will get hurt. Having teachers with guns at school will stop threats to schools. The Gun Free School Zone Act (GFSZA) is a federal law that was accepted in the United States in 1990. School officers have the right to carry guns, teachers should just focus on education. Not only does it create a huge responsibility, there would also need to be a large financial investment to supply guns for every school.
