How is it possible to borrow $0.50 for every dollar you spend? That does not make sense what so ever. Give Us Liberty: A Tea Party Manifesto is about the ridiculous spending and taxation our beloved government is doing. The modern Tea Party movement is all about everyday Americans standing up for what is right. Everyday Americans live off of a budget. If they can’t afford it, they go without. So why can’t our government do the same? At the end of 2008, the U.S. national debt was $10 trillion (about $85,000 per household) and is expected to be more than $18 trillion by 2018. Each year the national debt has increased by $500 billion since 2003, but in 2008 it increased about $1 trillion and in 2009 it increased by $1.9 trillion. The federal …show more content…

How is that possible? We only earned about $2.1 trillion! This debt is threatening our future with new high taxes, sky-high interest rates, out-of-control inflation, and increasingly weak dollar. The first Tea Party was the response the Sons of Liberty had to Parliament for infuriating new taxes on imported goods and the British troops being stationed around the cities. The group of men concluded to request to shipment of tea to be sent back without payment. This request was of course denied. They took it in their hands to peacefully dump the tea into the water. Soon after, Parliament closed the Boston ports with the Intolerable Acts in 1774. In many minds, the Revolutionary war started with the Boston Tea Party. The political class verse the American tax payers. The 535 Congress men and women we sent haven’t accepted their responsibility of their actions. This bailout used tax payers’ money to fund it. Over $700 billion was borrowed to solve the problem. Sadly, it gave the U.S. Treasury secretary in charge of the money. “(John) McCain told the press, ‘We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved.’” (Armey and Kibbe, p 48).
