Tea, a drink served in many different forms all around the world. Its origin begins in China and spread throughout the world. As tea spread the method of making and drinking change to fit each country’s culture making each one unique. Now there are a many types of tea culture from ancient China to the more modern Britain.
However, does tea continue to have an impact on the culture in present time? To find the answer to this question we first need to understand four things related to tea, which are its origin, popularity, trade and finally tea culture and ceremonies. From here he went straight to see the emperor since he was said to be a devout Buddhist. This emperor, named Wu, for some time he has been following Buddhism during which he built many Buddhist temples. Excited to meet a true Buddhist he asked Da Mo how much merit he received for the temples he built. The emperor angered by the Buddhist answers and way of acting, he immediately declared that this monk of ill repute was to have no privileges in any of the surrounding temples. Unbothered by this Da Mo went to a cave up in the mountains and entered deep meditation. It was during his long meditation sessions Da Mo kept having his eyelids drooping. One day in a fit of rage at this habit he ripped his eyelids off and threw them outside the cave. A bush grew from where his eyelids had fallen and for some reason some of his students decided to brew the leaves. They found the taste pleasant and seemed to help keep themselves awake and alert during long meditation.
How the origin of tea impacts culture is that it shows how important tea has been in Chinese culture to the point where one of the two stories is now a myth. Why this matters to other cultures is that it gives us a location of where tea culture began allowing us to see how tea culture spread to other countries and change. Now that we better understand the origin of tea we can now learn how it gained popularity and lead to its trade with other
