Taylor Swift’s “Mean”
To me, Taylor Swift is a very rare celebrity. Not only does she write her own music, but she also performs it for her fans. However, to be this kind of celebrity, you must have some pretty good inspiration. For Taylor, her musical influences come from people she has in her everyday life. Whether it’s a boyfriend, family member, an enemy, or even just a friend, all of her artistic choices come from those things. Her music mainly has to deal with situations she’s going through. Therefore, I feel like her songs are trying to get a cross a big message to the audience. For example, there was a song Taylor wrote for her Speak Now album called “Mean”.
That song was one that really sticks out to me when asked what songs I know that are trying to send a message to the listeners. It sticks out to me because it’s actually sending a big message to anyone that listens to it (young or old) that bullying is wrong and should be stopped. The song is also trying to get across that those people who get bullied are usually the ones who are some of the best people in th...
There are a lot of songs to choose form when there is songs that break down norms and one that reinforce some. There are songs that mean nothing. Great songs always have a hidden mean behind them even if when listen to them we do not know what they are.
Nina Simone used music to challenge, provoke, incite, and inform the masses during the period that we know as the Civil Rights Era. In the songs” Four Women”, “Young Gifted and Black”, and Mississippi God Damn”, Nina Simone musically maps a personal "intersectionality" as it relates to being a black American female artist. Kimberly Crenshaw defines "intersectionality" as an inability for black women to separate race, class and gender. Nina Simone’s music directly addresses this paradigm. While she is celebrated as a prolific artist her political and social activism is understated despite her front- line presence in the movement. According to Ruth Feldstein “Nina Simone recast black activism in the 1960’s.” Feldstein goes on to say that “Simone was known to have supported the struggle for black freedom in the United States much earlier, and in a more outspoken manner around the world than had many other African American entertainers.”
she will forever be loved and inspirational by many keeping her popularity and fame for another
Without a doubt there is one major performer that certainly stands out within our pop culture world. The name of this very famous American icon is, Dolly Parton. Dolly has surpassed any rags to riches story that ever lived. She has touched the lives of so many individuals over many decades through her many talents. Dolly started her career at a very young age and continued fulfilling her life endeavors through country music, pop music, and even acting. This American icon didn’t stop with just her talents, she also gave back to our society through charity, fundraising, and establishing her own theme park. Dolly Parton was brought up in a very poor family, however through much dedication she became the famous icon everyone idolized today.
It is believed to be one of her best pop songs. This song is considered a pop song because it is written in the form of verses, bridges and choruses and it ends with an outro. The first verse of the song starts with “Share my life, take me for what I am”, which is shown specifically at the time 0:23. It ends with “Just all that you are and everything that you do”, which is shown at 0:53-0:58. The verse is followed with a bridge, which begins with “I don’t really need to look, very much further”, specifically at 1:00, and then follows it and it ends with “I can’t run from myself, there’s nowhere to hide” which is from 1:15 to 1:20. The song’s structure continues with a chorus, which starts off with “Don’t make me close one more door” which is at 1:21, and then it follows and ends with “If I don’t have you, you, you, you, you” which is at 1:51 to 1:56. It carries on with one more verse and one more bridge, and it ends with an outro, which begins with “Don’t you dare walk away from me” which is at 4:12 and ends with “If I don’t have you, oh you” which is at 4:27. The exact times for each verse, chorus, bridge or outro is all shown in the table below. In addition, the song is considered a pop song because it’s time duration is within the average time for a pop song, which is 3 to 5 minutes, and the song is about 4:50 minutes. Moreover, it is appropriate for different people from different places and it
This song talks a lot about the baggage of the past that people hold onto instead of letting it go. All that baggage is only going to end up hurting you more and more instead of helping you in any way possible. An example is the opening
Demi Lovato is a famous singer, songwriter, and actor born in 1992 in New Mexico. Although she was on “Barney & Friends” as a child, most people know her from her years as an actress and an occasional singer on disney channel. She co-starred in the famous movie series “Camp Rock” and also in the television series “Sonny with a Chance.” After these acting positions, Lovato began a career in singing. She has released many albums and has had many hit songs such as “Heart Attack” and “Cool for the Summer.” In 2012 and 2013, Lovato was a judge on “The X Factor” (Wikipedia). Singing is a huge part of Lovato’s life, and she pours her heart and should into her lyrics.
Whitney Houston is considered one of the greatest singers of our generation. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, she holds the record of being the most rewarded female artist of all time. I chose her as my topic, because she represents resiliency and tenacity, despite her troubled experiences with drugs and her personal life. Whitney Houston comes from a family with an amazing, musical pedigree; her mother, Cissy Houston, was a successful back-up singer for Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley. Dionne Warwick is her first cousin, and Aretha Franklin is her godmother.
Blues" sums up his message with some simple advice. "I would say to all people, but maybe to young
In today’s world, celebrities are often misunderstood, especially singer/songwriter Robin Rihanna Fenty, referred to as Rihanna. Rihanna’s sexual behaviors in her videos have been talked about in negative ways for some time now, but what people do not understand is that it is all for fame. Celebrities will do anything to keep their careers going strong. If one really took the time out to take a deep look at Rihanna, they will notice how humble she really is. After going through the abusive relationship with Chris Brown, Rihanna has struggled with gaining that strong confidence in who she is.
It has been played in many other countries and is listed in many major hit charts in those countries. It became one of her best-selling singles. Beyoncé has been singing about women’s independence since she was in the hit group “Destiny’s Child”. Many of her songs support women’s lifestyle and keep cheering up girls with her powerful and expressive vocals (Armstrong). In addition to her songs and lyrics, her beautiful appearance fascinates many female audiences and influences from teenagers to grown-ups as if she was a role model. A negative side of the video is that the video gives the impression that men are always to be blamed and women are always “victims” of the relationships, which is not
There are many celebrities who have another side to them which people don’t really know about. Those public figures who are misunderstood can be an example to others who admire their work. Kim Kardashian is an actress, model and fashion designer. People think she is only famous because of her amazing body and beautiful face. On the other hand, some argue the only reason she became famous was because of a famous sex tape made public on the internet with a famous rapper named Ray-J back when they were dating. In fact, it first started when her dad, Robert Kardashian, was an attorney who helped O.J Simpson when he was accused of murder. That’s when the Kardashian family first became famous. Even though people don’t see Kim Kardashian as a role model, there are a few sides to her that no one knows about.
If you’ve seen a movie, chances are you know who Meryl Streep is. Seemingly a mainstay at every Oscar ceremony since 1978, the so-called Queen of Hollywood has miraculously avoided becoming a “Hollywood celebrity”. She’s never been caught in any scandals, and with a career spanning over 40 years, that’s saying something. It’s hard to imagine a time when we didn’t call her the Greatest Living Actress—but has it always been rainbows and butterflies for Meryl?
Ever since I was in eighth grade, I have been obsessed with Taylor Swift. She has been my role model since I was thirteen. When you look at most singers today, they have to be singing about drugs or alcohol, using vulgar language, or performing half-dressed. You never see Taylor Swift doing anything that she would be ashamed of later in life. On the other hand, she has had many relationships that have lasted short time periods. At least, she is not getting married for 72 days or even 24 hours such Kim Kardashian or Britney Spears. This is why I chose to write a research paper on her.
Whether the views about Taylor Swift are positive or negative, she still has been extremely successful. Not only has she made lots of money because of her hit singles, platinum records and sold out concert tours, but she has also found a unique way to connect with her fans. Taylor Swift is both praised and ridiculed because of her music and the way she perceives certain situations, but the way I see it, there are going to be positive and negative aspects of every form of media. What sets Taylor Swift apart from the rest though, it how handles herself with grace, hard work and determination and I think that is something that everyone should respect and admire.
