country singer.
However, she is still recording with Big Machine whom recently released her new single in August 2014. Ever since her first album she has been doing many others, which have made her become very famous throughout the world. The song I chose was Mean by Taylor Swift. The music video had many different performers, which consisted of five men and two women playing different types of instruments. Throughout the music video it showed how teenagers are getting bullied outside and during school. The instruments that are being playing throughout the song are two banjo players, violin, hand clappers, drums and cymbals. Taylor Swift wrote the song Mean and Nathan Chapman produced the song. The song Mean was in her third album Speak Now that was released in 2010 by Big Machine.
Taylor Swift style of music has turned over to pop with her new album coming out in October; however the song I chose was an old country song, which is called
Mean. I chose this song because I can relate to the message in the song. Taylor Swift has been a hero for many of her fans including myself through her music. The style of music on this recording starts off with the dynamic, which is progressing as the song progresses. The rhythm and the beat make you want to move as soon as the introduction of the song starts. The melody uses a lot of phrases throughout the song. The song is in duple meters, which means it has two beats throughout the song. She is playing a consonant harmony because the song does come to a stop at certain times throughout the song. Through the song there are many times when Taylor Swift is singing and in the harmony you can hear the banjo, violin, hand clappers, drums and cymbals underneath her voice. The texture in the song is homophonic texture because the melody has chords underneath, for instance the song starts off with Taylor Swift playing the banjo and her singing to the lyrics. Throughout the whole song there is a medium tempo. In an E! News interview with Taylor Swift she states, “Mean is a response to people who criticize whatever she does. The music is expressed on how people can be so mean and not even care about it. The beginning of Mean it says, “You, with your words like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me” shows how people all over the world can be so mean and Taylor Swift does not care about what others think. The song is sending out a message to all the people who have been bullied and for those who have been mean to others. The song starts off by Taylor Swift playing the banjo and singing. As the song progresses the instruments starts joining in as she keeps singing. At this point she has brought in hand clappers, which is very unique for this style of music. In verse two, the violin is playing along side the melody of the banjo for a few notes. There are certain points that she stops singing but the instruments do not stop playing. When the song gets to around two minutes and forty seconds the tempo starts to slow down a bit along which her singing which gets softer. In around the same time, the banjo also has a solo while the drums are playing softly in the background. However, the tempo is faster and each of the instruments is disappearing into a crescendo. The music jumps back to playing the drums very quickly, which bring the banjo back in playing the melody softly in the background. The violin is in more frequently now and is using recurrence in the song. All of the instruments have stopped playing at this moment leaving the hand clappers keep the beat and rhythm going at an average pace. The cymbals are used occasionally to fade out the song very smoothly. As the song comes to an end it leaves the singer singing monophonically for a few beats. The instruments that end the last note are the banjo and cymbals. The singer throughout the song does feel as she was expressing her anger on how people are so mean and can hurt other people’s feelings.
This famous song by Miley Cyrus was a big hit in the late 2000’s, almost every kid loved it. They danced and singed to every word. Mileys theme in the song was about how don't be afraid to try new things and never give up on your dreams. In this message by Jonathan Swift, he comes up with a brilliant idea to boost the economy and eliminate the burden of feeding hungry mouths of the poor Irish folk’s children, by selling and cooking their children like live stock. The author presents the argument with a simple, easy and cost efficient solution to the underlying problem. Swift ultimately presents that eating the Irish’s babies would solve the poor catholic Irish parent’s problem and would also be beneficial to the public as well. The author also collected data about how many children could to be sold by their weight and price, and the projected consumption patterns. ----Add more!!maybe?

The song I chose is Runaway Love by Ludacris featuring Mary J. Blige. The song was released in 2007 on Ludacris’s fifth album Release Therapy. The style or genre is rhythm and blues and rap. The song is very soulful and emotional. Ludacris is the main voice in the song and raps all of the verses telling a story, however Mary J. Blige is the emotion behind the lyrics and she sings the chorus. The mood of the song is sad and emotional. There is a rhythm though if beats that draws the listener in. The beat is made by a clapping noise and makes the listener want to clap along to the beat. The songs tempo is not too fast or too slow. It's slow enough to be soulful but it's still fast enough to rap to and has a beat. The instruments in this song are the guitar, base, and keyboard, along with background vocals.

In her article, "Voyeurism in Swift's Poetry," Louise K. Barnett explores the trend of voyeurism m the works of Jonathan Swift. She speaks broadly about the use of this technique in his work and concentrates on a few poems including "The Lady's Dressing Room." Barnett believes that Swift's poetry tends to be more voyeuristic than it is obsessed with excrement and decay. To support this, she maintains that each poem centers around the experience of seeing the obscenity (i.e. "The Lady's Dressing Room" revolves around Strephon's response to Celia's dirt and dung) rather than the obscenity.
Pop music is defined as a type of music, mostly played on electronic instruments, which can be appealing to individual of large age range due to the short, catchy phrases with beats and simple tunes (Macmillan). In 2008, she released her second single "I Kissed a Girl", and later on "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", and "Firework”. Katy Perry is the first female artist in history that recorded five No. 1 hits in an album. Her music consists of different elements including disco, electronic music, pop and rock. Her latest album, Prism (2013), includes her number-one singles "Roar" and "Dark Horse", which the main focus of the music is about self-empowerment (Perry). The song "Firework" is known to be an important single from her third album, Teenage Dream and is written by herself, Ester Dean, Stargate, and Sandy Vee. “Firework” was released on October 18, 2010 and it peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 9th. Ever since I was in eighth grade, I have been obsessed with Taylor Swift. She has been my role model since I was thirteen. When you look at most singers today, they have to be singing about drugs or alcohol, using vulgar language, or performing half-dressed. You never see Taylor Swift doing anything that she would be ashamed of later in life. On the other hand, she has had many relationships that have lasted short time periods. At least, she is not getting married for 72 days or even 24 hours such Kim Kardashian or Britney Spears. This is why I chose to write a research paper on her.
