I am involved in Target. Target is a coalition whose mission is to educate the community surrounding schools on how to make healthy life choices and abstain from substance abuse. Through this group, I have petitioned in front of the Little Falls, Randall and Morrison County councils in favor of various agendas including the Social Host ordinance. My amount of involvement in the coalition has led me to become the President, I am currently helping to plan the mock car crash for this year in taking place in Pierz. During my sophomore year I was asked to be part of the first ever Improv Troupe in Little Falls and am now the current Vice President.. We attended a week long camp that trained us to present messages using theater, to the community.
We have had great success in Little Falls and the surrounding communities. We have presented in front of everything from the Hospital Board to third graders, a range of topics from drug abuse to Flyer Pride. I am also part of the Red Cross Leadership Program. I have achieved the Third Tier level. This means donating blood at least three times, of which I have donated five times, volunteered eight hours or more to Blood Drives and referred more than five people. Through the Health Science Class at the High School, I helped organize the 2016 Blood Drive at the High School. We brought in 88 units. This has helped save 264 lives. With these activities, it is my hope that I have left a lasting impact that will forever benefit the community.
In my junior year of high school, I joined the leadership program called ASB, also known as associated student body. I had the honor and role of being the school’s unofficial videographer to promote events with videos and short films posted on our social media sites because of my passion for video editing and artistic abilities. I also became responsible as being chairman for one of our committees to organize special recognition events for our senior athletes. ASB made my work stressful and challenging, but it was a good way to connect with others.
I was also in Algulitos, a program where high school students teach younger students Spanish. I led a classroom of second graders every Friday while integrating fun and learning. I was very excited to be involved in this program because it was an opportunity to be a successful role model for younger children. I developed many friendships ...
The year 2013 was not one marked for pride for the retail chain, Target. They had one of the largest data breaches known to date that occurred between November 27th and December 15th. Not only was this the one of the largest attacks known to date of this kind, it was also quite eye opening to many who may not have paid any attention to the world of information security. The Target hack resulted in 40 million compromised credit and debit card accounts and that was just the initial known result. After some time, the research revealed that a total of as many as 110 million Target customers were the victims of this gigantic hack. Although computer crimes occur within the United States often, the bigger problem is that criminals from other countries across the oceans are attacking as well.
With the help of the Me To We team at Queen Street Public School, I volunteered at a local food bank. The experience was quite educational and fascinating. We encouraged staff and students to donate non-perishable food items for the "We Scare Hunger" campaign. This was definitely a highlight of my grade five year because I felt very humble and warm-hearted by doing a simple act of kindness. In addition, I was chosen to participate in the "Intergenerational" program. This was created so that grade five students can learn more from the elders of the Burton Manor senior home. We had the privilege to learn about their history and interact with them through several educational and fun activities. If accepted, I will indeed join several clubs and teams to contribute my time and talents to make the school an exciting learning
What exactly does it take to create a successful leading retail store? So many companies are in competition of gaining the shopper’s loyalty they end up neglecting other important aspects. A perfect retailer has to balance out high-quality, attractive prices, customer loyalty, and an enjoyable environment. “Target has experienced considerable growth in the last decade because its stores offer fashionable merchandise at low prices in a pleasant shopping environment.” (pg42) “It has developed an image of ‘cheap chic’.” (pg42)
I have been given several opportunities to teach these skills to younger girls, including organizing the San Francisco Girl Scout Skills Camporee training, where we trained Girl Scouts of all ages for the annual Skills Camporee. For multiple years in a row, girls in my troop and I organized and designed the training activities for this event. Events like this have improved my leadership abilities and inspired me to continue learning as a Girl Scout. Of all of the amazing experiences that I have gotten from Girl Scouts, the most important to me has been the opportunities to meet hundreds of other inspired young women and help them enrich their own lives through Girl Scout programs. Through my troop, I was connected with DWEN, Dell Women’s Entrepreneurship Network.
How might Target 's stakeholders (in particular, employees, customers, local communities, and suppliers) influence the manager 's decisions about building competitive advantage in the analysis stage of the AFI framework?
I observed an IEP meeting for one of my students who has a TBI, traumatic brain injury. She just moved to this school district last year, so this was a follow-up IEP meeting to see how she was doing on her short-term objectives and overall goal. They also talked about transitioning her into high school, because she is in 8th grade now. The People who attended the meeting were the DAPE teacher, the mom, the student, the three special education teachers, the para-professional, and case manger.
Target is known to offer higher quality and more innovative products. Adding garden centers and food highly increased Target’s sales and rivalry. This store chain signs exclusive partnerships with designers like Jason, Wu, Zac Posen, Isaac Mizrahi and the most recent Lilly Pulitzer. It is every customer’s preference to be well dressed without overpaying. Sustaining low prices to remain competitive in the industry is Target’s priority. By sells its products directly to customers it is able to keep the cost at or below competitors. Target’s Red Card, Target Visa, Target Card and price matching of online retailers provide additional discounts for customers. Reinvestment into community puts Target in the front pages. This company spends “4 million dollars” programs (“4 Million Every Week”) every week in civic giving. Consumers look to support retailers who are actively involved in the community through sales of homegrown products and sponsorship of local events or
When I reached high school I developed an Improv group by the name of The Stray Dogs in order to raise money for our hometown non-kill animal shelter, Lake County Animal Shelter. The shelter had recently made a statement how they were low on funds and unable to take in any more animals due to their supplies were almost nonexistent. Through putting on Improv shows a few peers and I were able to raise over $8,000 dollars and scout countless volunteers for the shelter throughout the course of four years. All of the money we made throughout doing four years worth of shows went directly to the shelter in order to empower, support, and strengthen the wellbeing of the animals and
An unenthusiastic response to Target’s expansion into Canada resulted in upsettingly low success rates this year. The recent implementation of 127 stores nation-wide has cost the corporation nearly $1 billion in retail sales. Although the future of Target Canada appears to be gloomy, it is with hope that providing the public with adequate knowledge of the corporation and their plans for the future, they will be encouraged to support this potentially booming discount retailer.
It was during my second year of high school that I first heard of the Pruitt Memorial Scholarship. I suddenly felt hope for my future. Hope that I would be able to attend college, and hope that I would be given the chance to fight for my very large dreams. My passion is theatre and my goal is that someday I will be able to teach others about my passion and spread the magic of theatre around the world, but to be able to do that requires lots of education. The Pruitt Memorial Scholarship opened the door for me to pursue this dream. Now, I just had to acquire the scholarship, and that meant performing volunteer community-service.
The relationship between young people and nonprofits can be the start of a significant change in our community, and should be a reciprocal and powerful educational experience. An open-minded and encouraging flow of communication between organizations and community members can be the launchpad for the social and environmental change organizations talk about and try for every day. Together, we can make change – not just a semblance of idealism, but reality, as well.
Vincent De Paul Club, KOOCS club, and volunteering in my own time. I am the Vice President of my schools St. Vincent De Paul Club. In the club we work to promote service and solidarity through our school. We do regular food drives and volunteer at the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store. We conduct many events and retreats throughout the year. One which I heavily help to plan is our Night Out for the Homeless. One night every year members of the club and others who wish to participate sleep outside in February. We only have tarps to protect us from the rain and yoga mats to cushion us from the pavement. The experience enlightens us to the real life struggles homeless people go through. With KOOCS, I go and make food then serve it to the homeless. I also volunteer with Seattle Union Gospel Mission where we go out at night and give vital materials to homeless people are Seattle. We provide food, blankets, socks, clothes, hygiene items, and whatever else we can provide.
Taking that step towards high school, an important part in my life was Community Action for Teens. This organization has allowed me to collaboratively work with youths to develop leadership skills in order to produce a difference in our lives, families, schools and communities. As a group, we became advocates against challenging issues that concern people our age, especially alcohol and tobacco use. Together, we
