I spoke with Tanisha Washington at the operation on 12/14/15. Tanisha said she has worked at the operation for 9 years. Tanisha said she has worked in all the classrooms and had recently became the Assistant Director. Tanisha said the only injury she is aware that has happened at the daycare is when Acelyn fell on the playground and cut her head. Tanisha said she did have a recent phone call from a mother who said her child had been hit by another student while at school and a bruise was left. Tanisha said she spoke with the two girls (Jakayla and Dejah) and discussed with them that game where we hit our friends is not acceptable at daycare. Tanisha said Menkeena Hinson, Jakayla's mom did come by the office the same afternoon to show her the
Preston Brooks was born in Edgefield District, South Carolina on August 5th, 1819. He graduated from South Carolina College (now known as the University of South Carolina), in 1839, and after he graduated he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1845. Brooks also served in the Mexican-American War with the Palmetto Regiment. After he had returned from the war, Brooks fought a duel with future Texas Senator Louis T. Wigfall. In the duel, Brooks was shot in the hip, forcing him to use a walking cane for the rest of his life.
Stated by John Ramsey, “As I was walking through the basement, I opened the door to a room, and knew immediately that I’d found her because there was a white blanket- her eyes were closed, I feared the worse but yet- I’d found her” (Bardesley, and Bellamy). On December 26, 1996, one of the most famous, unsolved murders took place in Boulder, Colorado (Christopher). The murder caused many events including accusations, interrogations, false claims, and examining of evidence. The case also caused the Ramsey family to go through a hard time. The murder of JonBenet Ramsey was very shocking and caused a huge investigation that is yet unsolved.
We are to base decisions for children based on multiple sources of information in this case you have yourself and many concerned parents coming and telling you about this, it would seem to be probable cause to report the daycare to the proper authorities. After talking to more people about the situation, maybe some co-workers, I would go to the proper authorities and report the day care center. I would also inform the concerned parents about the situation being handled, and I would also give them some tools for if that were to ever happen again, maybe a few
My name is Jim, just Jim it’s easier this way, and I was one of the nine survivors in the Waco compound standoff. Before I go into what I think went wrong to our religious sanctuary, let me tell you how I met David and a little about our great deciple.
Patty Hearst was a normal 19 year old girl, living in an apartment with her fiance and attending university in Berkeley, California, until one day her life, and the lives of everyone around her changed forever. On the evening of February 4, 1974, some members of the left-wing radical group called the Symbionese Liberation Army barged into Hearst’s home armed with guns, and beat up her fiance before kidnapping Hearst and bringing her to their house where she was kept blindfolded in a closet for 59 days. While locked in the closet, Patty Hearst was verbally and sexually abused and she was denied the use of even a toilet or toothbrush if she didn’t tell them that she agreed with the group’s ideas and beliefs. It is believed that while being locked in the closet like this, Patty was being brainwashed by the SLA and that she may have even developed Stockholm Syndrome, a condition in which a person who was kidnapped starts to empathise with their captor, and even starts defending them. This is how the Symbionese Liberation Army convinced Patty Hearst to join their group. They released an audio tape to the public in which Patty Hearst said she was changing her name to Tania and that she had decided to join the SLA. She then helped the SLA rob a bank and steal an ammunition belt from a sports store. After this, she started travelling around the country with two members of the SLA named John and Emily Harris, to try avoid being captured by the police. During this time, the police found a house where some members of the SLA were hiding out. Attempts to make the SLA members surrender ended up in a massive gunfight, ultimately ending up in the deaths of 6 SLA members. The FBI eventually found and arrested Patty Hearst on September 18, 1975. T...
In 2014, the death of Eric Garner in New York City raised controversial conversations and highlighted the issues of race, crime, and policing in neighborhoods that tend to be poor and racially isolated. Garner, an unarmed black man, was killed after being tackled and held in a “chokehold.” According to the AP Polls in December 2014, “Police killings of unarmed blacks were the most important news stories of 2014.” The problem is that young black men are targeted by police officers in which they have responded with the misuse of force and policy brutality. It is evident that this issue affects many people nationwide. The civilians do not trust the police department and the justice system because they hold the perceptions that police officers are immune from prosecution despite their actions. In particular, black individuals, specifically black males, do not feel safe in the presence of police officers because they are not held accountable for their mistakes.
Isaiah Sais and Shawna Adams both admit that they had been verbally and physically abused; Shawna was even sexually abused. NBC Universal conducted an investigation and fount that there were more than 127 recorded abuse cases in the state of Florida within a two-month period. There are also several children that spoke to reporters about the abuse they were exposed to. Stephanie says that her mother signed her into foster care because Stephanie and the mother’s boyfriend were always fighting. The Calizaire sisters told about two instances they were abused. Sophia Calizaire, referring to her foster mother, said, “She took a belt, she started beating me with the belt, picked up a hanger, she started beating me with the hanger, picked up a heel, and started beating me with the heel.” She also says that one foster parent made the children eat dog food. Sophia tells about one incident with that foster mother and says, “She told me to eat in front of my sister while she watched and my sister was hungry.” That same foster mother also punished her by holding her head underwater until she almost drowned. Apparently, harsh punishments are quite common. Alexandria Hill was also punished for “misbehaving”. She was found in a corner of a dark room, and was not allowed to speak to anyone. She was being punished for waking up earlier than her foster mother and getting food and water from the kitchen. Not only are the parents abusive, but the other children can be extremely abusive as well. Princess Calizaire says that she once stayed in a foster home where one of the boys used to try to rape her every night before she would go to sleep, which actually made her terrified to go to sleep at night. Mez Pierre was also abused by other kids in one of his foster homes. Mez says, “I was a little kid, they knew they could take advantage of me and I couldn’t fight back. But I did tell, I did tell
Right now she has a Para that has the student as her main student, but she also cares for two other students. The mom is scared for her daughter and for the other two students safety. One example they gave was that during the fire drill last week, the student seized as all the other students were out of the building and the Para had to help the other students too. Another example is that the student seized when about to enter the pool and she almost smack her head. When they were talking about this topic I really started to think what I would do in the situation. This student seizes everyday the mom says, so that is a huge safety concern. I think she should have one, but at they meeting they were saying that the mom is really going to have to fight for this. Which reminded me of the Dear Collage letter and how the parent has to be the biggest advocator for their child, if they want it done right. I believe this mom will, because you could see her concern not only for her child but the other children that would be unintended in a situation when the student does have a
When I walked into the school, I was greeted by the receptionist who kindly showed me where to sign in and then directed me to the teacher I would be observing for the day. The staff was dressed very appropriate for the day and on Friday they were able to wear pink because it was October. Although I did not see much interaction with factuality with each other, I was able to witness when the teachers of a certain grade would come to pick up their students. I saw how the teachers interacted with Mrs. Lee and they were very respectful. The student’s behavior varied from class to class. Most of the classes were well behaved with only a few students causing disruption. Mrs. Lee had warned me that the kindergarten class is normally noisier than other classes, but to her surprise the students were very quiet and did their work independently with no interruptions. Mrs. Lee did a wonderful job at keeping the students disciplined within the classroom. She would give positive re-enforcement and correct students when they would do something incorrectly. She worked really well with the students and they students responded in a respectful manner to Mrs.
This worker arrived at the Excel center at 12:25 to pick up Dejuna Rodreguiez. Dejuna confirmed that would like me to participate in the Child and family Team Meeting that day at 2 pm. Ms. Ava Johnson, the guardian, had previously informed this worker of the meeting prior to picking up Dejuna and also instructed this worker to take Dejuna to go get lunch as she stated “It would be a stressful meeting and Dejuna would need to calm down”. This worker and Dejuna stopped at subway and proceeded to the Children’s bureau.
Berkley and his mother met for the DD Waiver Intake at the Woodman Office. Berkley is 6 year old and has been placed in 6 different day cares and elementary schools for the past 2 years. Danielle (mother) explained at home Berkley doesn't display the same behaviors he does at school. Berkley has bitten and kicked teachers and at the last school he bit the principal. Berkley was well behaved during the intake as he played on the floor with the toys and after some prompted he sat down and completed the screening worksheet with some defiance. Danielle explained that in school he has gotten away with not doing school work. He recently spent 8 days at VTTT.
children are ill. They might take out their frustrations on nurses and other health care staff.
As shown in the situation above, there is a great deal of stress and money that comes along with sending your child to daycare. At Needham Heights KinderCare, in Massachusetts, where Ms. Couchon is the director, parents walk in to soothing classical music in the reception area. They are even encouraged to take a few minutes to relax, knowing how stressed they are. There are phone calls that are made during her lunch hour for paren...
A normal day for a daycare facility is to have many classrooms full of students like a typical public school; however, they are younger children and are being supervised by an adult. That adult is responsible for, on average, four to ten students at any given time, ages ranging from zero to six. During that time, a lot can happen. These busy workers have many responsibilities throughout the day. The most important one is safety. Because these children are so young, they are also adventurous therefore need a lot of attention. Daycare workers have to spend much time supervising these children while performing other tasks throughout the day. Not only do children need to be supervised to be safe, but they also need to have a safe, clean and presentable environment that the daycare workers of the facility are to maintain. One way to keep things clean is to sanitize, in which is a big task of these workers. Children are always putting things in their mouth and then passing it off to other kids; therefore, sanitation is a big deal in these types of facilities. Another responsibility that daycare providers have are to enforce rules. When rules are broken, these providers are to then enforce discipline policies. These can sometimes become an issue seeing that these providers are not the parents of the children thus they have to consult with the parents on certain discipline techniques to use on specific children. On the other hand, these providers are similar to parents in the sense that they wash children's clothing and clean up after every child. In addition to all the other responsibilities, daycare providers also have to maintain current, accurate and confidential client files per child. These files are to consist of observations and r...
The majority of infections in daycare centers are respiratory infections (Fairchok et al.,). This infection is very common and usually self treatable. It would not be weird for a child to catch one. Every child is going to bring home their own viruses and bacteria to spread and share with the family no matter if they are at a daycare center or not. Parents mindset is their children are getting sick from daycare but really they can get sick anywhere they go. Instead of parents trying to keep children out of daycare centers to prevent sickness, they should be focusing on finding the safest place for their child to attend. If a child is at daycare and starts possessing any symptoms of illness, that child may be excused from any activities and isolated from other children. Also the parents must be contacted right away about the illness (Revisor of Statues 23). Daycare centers are showing the right way to protect children from other children 's illness. The children 's toys and the daycare will be cleaned and disinfected to try to stop the spread of the illness if possible. When children are sick before coming to the daycare center, they should not come that day until twenty-four hours after the symptoms have cleared. Daycares centers follow the right policies by keeping the children at home, otherwise their kids would come to the centers and infect other
