TEEN Magazine
Lately I have been reading the teen magazines YM and Seventeen
and I've noticed one thing; they really annoy me. I feel like they are
just for preps and the trendoid freaks. Well what about the other groups?
The gangsters, punks, skaters, bikers, or whatever. They should really
give recognition to the other people in our society. Maybe they want just
the good teenagers around. They are not going to get what they want.
Maybe they think if they print stuff up all about preps and trends everyone
will follow. Well they should guess again.
I for one, will not follow any of that shit they say. They give
some of the most whacked advice for things. Take romance, I've tried to
follow the advice, but my outcome has not been successful. I know other
people who have tried, and their outcome has been the same. Take their
quizzes, then tell me that you do all that stuff. If you know me, then
tell me how often I wear bellbottom pants, or platform shoes, or pink
make-up, or little shirts that fit me. For those of you who don't know me,
I can tell you right now, I wouldn't be caught dead in that stuff.
That takes me to the clothes the models sport. How many girls in
this society are actually that skinny? It's actually kind of sick. I
think they should widen their models to all sizes and shapes. What? Just
because a girl who is not amazingly skinny for a model, the company won't
sell anything? Well I can't exactly describe the clothes they wear, but I
have never run across a person wearing the same thing. But in Seventeen
they have a section called "School Zone" and they go around different
schools and take pictures of the students. I can understand the way they
dress and they do show different looks.
Both magazines put out information about bands, but I don't listen
to those bands. As a matter of fact, I hate those bands. They are
alternative bands, and coming from me, they just suck. Well I will confess
to one thing. I have run across about 3 bands that I do like, but I have
been reading these damn magazines for about 3 years. So that tells you
something right there. I still haven't listened to a word either one the
magazines have said. Otherwise I think I would have been a changed
Jay's Journal is an interesting book written by Jay. The story is about Jay and how he was led into witchcraft and the occult and using drugs by his girlfriend and others. The author tells how Jay was led into all of this, and it also tells how he got his two best friends into using the same stuff and into the occult also known as the O. The author describes how he learned that the human race was afraid of mind over matter techniques and learned how to use them himself. He was able to levitate small objects and see peoples auwa and aura. This is a great book because it helps some people that deal with the same problems to see what might happen if they choose to follow the same path. I really liked this book because it might help people deal with this type of stuff, it was written in a real person's journal and described what led to his death, and I like how it says what happened every day of his life.
The European Renaissance occurring from 1450 to 1650, marked a change that led to many developments in art, religion, literature and the economy. The impact of the Renaissance changed the thinking and life. The society saw a rise in creativity, in ambition and in politics. During the Renaissance (the rebirth) achievement in art especially rose, though depending on where the Renaissance was, it was a different experience all around. Renaissance art in Italy and southern Europe had more of a grecian theme, while northern Renaissance focused more on life and mythology.
Skeletal muscle is striated muscle tissue that is attached to bones. It is composed of fibers that look like a mixture of dark and light bands bundled together that run along the bone. These muscles are responsible for relaxing and contracting when a person moves. Skeletal muscles are the muscles that can be seen and feel through our skin.
Music is a large consumption of my daily life and the artists I listen to have shaped me in some way. Listening to music is one of my most time
Have you ever met someone who acted just as teens are stereotyped? Not many people have because they do not exist. Real teens are poorly portrayed in the media and are the complete opposite of their stereotypes. Books and TV shows make teens out to be wild or crazy, irresponsible and out of control. One hardly ever hears about teen-heroes. Instead, newspapers and magazines are plastered with stories of teens and crime. And while looking at commercial billboards and other related media, the regular teen seems to be sex-crazed and image-obsessed.
A common perception about a cheerleader is that their sole role in sports is to chant and encourage teams that are playing on the field from the sidelines or stands of a game. However, towards the end of the 20th century, cheerleaders have taken on more of an active role. Cheerleaders take part in competitions against other schools based on the skills they acquire throughout the season. States like Virginia, Michigan, and Georgia have officially recognized cheerleading as a sport and have included the activity as a part of each state’s respective league. However, there are many more states that have not yet considered cheerleading a sport. Cheerleading has two facets, competition and sideline. While competitive cheer may require more athleticism and skill than sideline cheer, one should consider cheerleading as a sport due to its need of athleticism and training, its role in stabilizing and promoting social norms, and the competitive nature between teams for the goal of winning.
Women’s fitness magazines are supposed to inform females how to get fit and be healthy; however, they continuously send messages to women that they have to fit certain standards of flawless skin, sex appeal, and dangerously low amounts of body fat. Women in their twenties and thirties are feeling the pressure from society to conform to body images seen in magazines, such as Heidi Klum who is 5’9.5’’and 119lb, Carmen Kass who is 5’10.5’’ and 114lb, and Elsa Benitez who is 6’ and 125lb (Magazine Dimensions 153, 162) (supermodelguide.com). (Are these the healthy bodies that we should be trying to obtain?) Fitness Magazines need to revamp themselves and give women healthy, realistic images and informative articles so they can help women become healthy.
The Renaissance was a time period where ideas, poetry, inventions, and even new religions where released into the world. This time period lasted from the 14th century to the 17th century, where people like Shakespeare, Da Vinci, and Michelangelo are well known. The Renaissance began in the 1300s in Europe and lasted into the last 1600s. By the ended of the Renaissance word and ideas had been spread around the world to different nations, continents, and even countries.
The Renaissance was known rebirth of learning that contributed to the exploration of new forms of artwork and literature(pg.37). The rebirth took place in the middle ages , this is recently after the plague had passed and people want to now celebrate life because the had survived a massive epidemic(pg.37). This is the time in history where people started to question the church and all of there beliefs and Artist discover a new way to add detail to the art work and writing has taken on a life of it's own. these event greatly impacted how Europe was seen to themselves and the rest of the world(pg.37).
The first basic function of the muscular system is movement, which is carried out by the skeletal muscles. The primary function of the skeletal muscle is to produce voluntary gross and fine motor movement. This set of voluntary muscles provides the forces that enable the body to move. taste of music, people still like to listen to it and enjoy it. My own personal experiences and attitudes to music have stemmed from my own life and relationships.
Renaissance was a bridge that allowed Western Europe to move from the medieval era to the modern era. Renaissance later spread to other parts of Europe.
What if one day there was too many people living on planet Earth, using up too much of it’s resources? Overpopulation though is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as “the condition of having a population so dense as to cause environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash.” Ever since the 18th century, the theory of overpopulation has been a problem on many minds. There is a huge gap for the number of individuals compared to relevant resources here on earth, such as the water and essential nutrients needed to survive. This issue results from an increase in births, a decline in mortality rates, an increase in immigration, or an unsustainable biome and depletion of resources. All these idea about mankind
of project is all about. Then we were asked to do an action plan which
In conclusion I must point out that it was very hard for me to pick just one style of music or just two bands. There are so many other styles of music I enjoy listening to and numerous artists that I totally appreciate. I could probably write forever naming all the musicians and different styles of music I enjoy.
