One of the most booming businesses in modern-day society, happens to be an illegal one. Human trafficking has caught the attention of many political parties, but not enough attention. The illegal activity of human trafficking needs recognition. The abduction of young men and women, as young as 9, are becoming more favored in the United States. They go against laws to make a profit, from an illegal business, by seizing and forcing them into an injustice act. Having a loved one ripped apart from a household and a family so they can perform as a slave. How many girls and boys are being transported across the U.S and into another country, is it going to take to realize the importance of this illegitimate issue. Having a strong, independent country, America is being blindsided. Women and men should not be traumatized by this business any more.
Children and teenages and young adults are stripped of their identity. Every person is born with one. After their homes and families are gone, they learn to work. Going on vacation with some college friends seems fun at first, but after a best friend goes missing in a club?

Human trafficking is a crime in every state, so women who are taken from the U.S are transported to another country where it either has a less punishment, or where it is legal (Source #3). The laws are placed already for the country, but enforcing them seems to lack attention. Laws like “search and seizure,” border control, and immigration policies, are some examples. Enforcing those few laws, could lead to less of a chance to transporting them across the border, where America’s government could no longer protect them (Source #6). There are so many different approaches people take to accomplish a goal. Gun trafficking, drug trafficking, and human trafficking are all illegal in the United States, but they find a way to run their
“Human trafficking coerces and persuades their victims to cross national borders in search of new jobs and better opportunities and after that they are forced into some sort of labor bondage” (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1). Even though trafficking is a problem in almost every country; poorer countries have a bigger problem with it because they are more desperate for work. Just in 2000, the U.S. enacted their first federal anti-trafficking law, called the Victims of Trafficking Protection Act (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1). Trafficking has just begun to receive notice on how big of a problem it actually is. “Proponents of strict anti-trafficking initiatives say that laws and prevention against trafficking are necessary in order to stem the growing tide of large scale organized crime that profits off of smuggling and trafficking” (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1).
Some governments still don’t have any laws that ban this evil and it is not good for people who suffer from it as it runs rampant in those countries. The places that need the government's help with this the most, have governments that are failing to protect them. The UN Chronicle says that the only way to end sex trafficking and give these victims the closure they deserve is the “prosecution of traffickers and protection of victims”(UN Chronicles). It is not the girls fault and if these traffickers are punished and made an example of, it could discourage others from following this dark path and this will mitigate and eventually end sex trafficking. Some countries don’t persecute the traffickers, or they do very little to punish them and this needs to change to eliminate sex trafficking. When some countries are “lagging behind with no counter-trafficking laws at all”(Jesionka), this prevents people who are held captive from getting the justice they deserve in some parts of the world. If the world worked together to eliminate this, the countries that are exploited for this trade would keep their people safer. The countries need to take on these traffickers if there is going to be any difference in this modern slavery. Not enough is being done to catch and punish these criminals and this is a giant problem. When others can actually see the problem, their governments
There are so many American based organizations with the fight against modern day slavery in third world countries, but yet the issue seems overlooked in the U.S. Whether it be a matter of turning a blind eye or simply not knowing human trafficking takes place every day, in every state in the United States of America, home of the free. These issues must be brought to light so that more efforts can be made to put an end to this terrible trade.
Any country can come up with documents saying there are going implement these laws but down the road are they really keeping their end of the bargain? One of the more effective policies geared towards human sex trafficking was the Memorandum on Steps to Combat Violence Against Women and Trafficking in Women and Girls. Through this memorandum President Clinton was able to implement an increase awareness of human trafficking. He also made provision to protect the victims with the help of law enforcement to prevent women and girls from being trafficked as well as ensuring that traffickers are severely penalized. President Clinton success of this memorandum was that he not only ensured protection for the victim but also through law enforcement was able to persecute the traffickers. The Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), which has been reauthorized four times, was enacted as a twofold: “to ensure just and effective punishment of traffickers, and to protect their victims.” (McReyonds) One of the major things that the TVPA 2003 enabled was “bring a civil action against the perpetrator in an appropriate district court of the United States” and to “recover damages and reasonable attorneys fees.” (McReyonds) This was a major success because it brought significant amount of public attention assuring the appropriations for anti-trafficking programs in the U.S as well as increase the federal humanitarian aid in specific areas including post- conflict situations. (McReyonds) The TVPA also creates a new and separate administrative path to legal residence for human trafficking victims through the T-Visa. This allows a trafficking survivor to continuing living in the U.S. for three years; during this time he or she has legal work authoriza...
Many American citizens know of the criminal act of sex trafficking in third world countries, but very few know how much it takes place in the United States. In America prostitution, pornography, and stripping are all considered acts of sex trafficking when they are forced on the victim. This increased crime has led to victimization, physical and psychological effects and after-effects of American and international victims. The government is aware of the slavery of humans taking place in this country and it has to release funds in creating programs for sex trafficking survivors and re-authorize the act that protects sex trafficking victims, in order to support the equal rights for every citizen.
What is human trafficking? Human trafficking, according the dictionary.com’s definition, is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation. However there are many different forms of human trafficking and one that has caught my eye is the form called sex trafficking. This is very important because many young teenage girls around my age are affected by it the most and they grow up being a sex slave. Although majority of the victims are young girls, human trafficking affects everyone: male, female, young, and old. There are very few people out here hearing their cry. We are very blind to this topic in the United States because its not very well-known and also because it’s such a big
Sex trafficking is the real immigration problem and is one of the most heinous crimes. There are thousands of innocent women, men, and children trafficked from all areas of the world and being used as they slavery. Many of these victims are being forced, bought as prostitution, involuntary labor, and sold as sex slaves, peonage, and other forms of servitude to settle up debts. Sex traffickers are one of the top destinations in the U.S. According to "Human Trafficking - Exploitation of Illegal Aliens," “It is estimated that 14,500 to 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States each year. Trafficking is the recruitment and transportation of persons within or across boundaries by force, fraud, or deception for the purpose of exploiting them economically. Victims are lured with false promises of good jobs and better lives, and then forced to work under brutal and inhuman conditions. Victims of trafficki...
Many people are astounded to hear that human trafficking is not just a complication outside of America’s borders and that it is flattering more of an American drawback as intervals go on. Human trafficking has converted into creation's second leading criminal industry, transforming the individual, their dignity and rights as a human being, and humankind. The United States of America is mainly a transfer for trafficking in persons. It is assessed in The Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, “that 14,500 to 17,500 people, primarily women and children, are trafficked to the U.S. annually.” This act augments pre-existing illegal disadvantages, offers new defenses and makes accessible certain welfares and aids to victims of trafficking. The Department’s Annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices estimated that from at least 127 countries have found to be harnessed in 137 states. In the United States, for instance, more than 15,000 individuals are enforced into the present day counterpart of slavery every year. An estimated one hundred thousand to three hundred thousand Americans are forced into this each year, as predicted by the national police department. But the collision of human trafficking goes beyond individual victims; it undermines the safety and security of all nations it touches. The U.S. has aided states to enact anti-trafficking regulation, educated law enforcement officials, DAs, border guards and judicial officers, and impeaching traffickers, and protecting targets.
The United States has one of the largest percentages of trafficked humans worldwide, however so many individual are unaware of this issue. As many as 17,500 individuals are thought to be trafficked into the United Stated annually, and some have estimated that 100,000 U.S. citizen children are victims of trafficking within the U.S. (Siskin & Wyler, 2010). Since many cases go unreported, these estimates may be fewer than the actual number of victims in the US. There is substantial evidence that supports the ideology that woman and children from low socio-economic status are most likely targeted (Okech, Morreau, & Benson, 2011), of all the people trafficked each year about 70 percent of women and 50 percent are children that are mainly forced into the sex trade (Human Trafficking Statistics). Among socio-economic problems, the trafficking business feeds on conditions of vulnerability, such as family conflicts, natural disasters, youth, ignorance, gender, social exclusion, political instabil...
Since women are more likely to depend on their husbands for support, often times they are forced into the migrant work of the sex trade if the husband is unable to provide or they become widowed. “As commercial sex is illegal in most countries, traffickers use the resulting illegal status of migrant women that have been trafficked into commercial sex to threaten or coerce them against leaving” (U.S. Department of State). Although women are targeted at much higher rates than men, Anti-trafficking programs and institutions do not focus their efforts directly on

Nikunj Agarwal GE-1401 T63 SID: 53662722 Assignment 3 – Argumentative Essay. Human Trafficking, The age old problem. In today’s era of technological advancement and scientific discovery, man’s greed for power and fame has grown exponentially. We live in a world where we have accepted man’s absolute control over each and everything. The unjustified trade and enslavement of human beings in the current age represents a fallen civilisation.
Forrest Bounds Mrs. Karhliker World Literature 13 March 2014 Title Lies, deceit, and abductions: Human trafficking victims face either some or both of these methods to steal these men and women away from the lives they have built. Human trafficking is a plague afflicting most modern societies; men, women and children are trafficked for sexual slavery and cheap labor against their wills. Often times children are taken or lured from their homes and men blackmailed into slave labor for little or nothing. Women and children are trafficked for sexual uses, mainly prostitution.
One reason why human trafficking is a serious crime that many people are unaware of is because it secretly takes place in the United States. Between 2007 and 2012, there were reports of 9,298 different cases of human trafficking (Polaris Project). An example of how unknown this topic is is that 41% of sex trafficking cases and 20% of labor trafficking cases were proven to have United States citizens as victims (Polaris Project). And this is only what we know so far. There are thousands of cases that we don’t know about. Many people also don’t know that men, women, and even children are also taken hostage by human traffickers. An example of this would be that out of those 9,298 cases that were reported, women were victims of sex trafficking in 85% of those cases. Men were victims of labor trafficking in 40% of those cases (Polaris Project). Approximately 300,000 children are at risk of being prostituted in the United States (U.S. Department of Justice). Children are even more under the radar than we know about. On average, one in three teenagers on the street will be lured toward prostitution within 48 hours of leaving their home (National Runaway Hotline). For example, two female friends who were minors ran away from home and were prom...
Throughout the years, the traffickers have found loopholes to the laws and continue to traffick humans. They never stopped trafficking humans despite the many attempts to stop it. Trafficking is a problem but, it is a problem that can not accurately be charted. Sallie Yea (2010) states, “It is hard to know exactly how big the problem of human trafficking is since it is a clandestine activity; trafficked persons are usually described as ‘hidden populations’ meaning that they are kept out of sight in inaccessible locations” (p. 2). As of right now we may not know how many people are being trafficked but we know it is happening. it has gone on long enough that we have to do something to try and stop human trafficking. Thousands of people are being trafficked each year that no one knows about, and frankly will never know about. The traffickers are getting to the point where they can go almost completely undetected when trafficking humans across the borders. Human trafficking is an ever evolving issue that we may never
