Many people of the nation are concerned about the time and money college can take up. Adults and kids across the nation are arguing and wondering if college is really necessary than in the long run. To some, it takes up too much time before getting that dream job, but for other, they are ok with going to college and spending the time to get an education. Another issue is that some people just cannot afford college because of its very high price, others(the richer folk) could not care about spending so much money if they think it is worth it. While college takes up time and money, a college education is still very important to have. Many people are worried about the time college takes away from life. This factor can make it hard to go to college for some people which is fine because college is not for everyone, but if they have enough money they should be going to college. If a person gets a scholarship the money factor will go down. Even if a person who is going to college does not get a scholarship, they can still have the benefit of college. In the long run, “workers with a professional degree”(went to college)“...earned ….. over $1,000 more per week than workers who have a high school diploma...”(Source A). This shows that not only will college help a person earn money but will cost a person less later on than the average person. Even though college cost much money, the knowledge and the degree that come with it will soon pay off the college debt and more(most likely enough to support a family). This all come down to the choices people make in their …show more content…
A person that wishes to go to college chooses what she/he learns and what profession that they would like to choose(such as doctor, teacher, engineer, etc.). After the person chooses their profession; the person will help them take classes to achieve their goal of becoming whatever they decided whether it was a janitor or the US president. Even after college, the “education gives you choices. Assuming you don’t pile up mountains of debt that constrain your career options,” which would be horrible(Source D). So if a person does not constrain their career option than a person could become whatever the person would like. Yes, there is still a downside to college(money, time, having to put effort into homework), but not very many, and all of the downsides are worth every second of college after a person graduates. But some people do not believe in college and that is ok as long as the person are not that student who has all A’s and B’s or not going to a college prep
Is college worth it? This is a topic that has been heavily debated for years, and years to come. The late nights, stressful debts, and long papers due- not accepted a second late; does that make up for the amazing memories, high paying jobs, and social connections? Absolutely. The experience college can give is remarkable. College is a valuable experience because individuals who attend will have a lower chance of being unemployed, will be in better health, and paying off debts will be possible!
Based on Three Reasons College Still Matters, there are three main reasons why a college education is so important. From an economical standpoint, an education is most of the time needed to earn enough money to live comfortably. Attending and completing college provides a possibility for future economic stability. Within a highly competitive workforce a college degree can put a foot in the door to a job of a person’s choice. Statistics show that people who obtain a bachelor’s degree or higher get paid more than those who do not obtain one. Many question the worth of a college degree because of how expensive it is, though some say that the money spent is an investment on a person’s future. One can say that the worth of a college education is within the eye of the beholder. Many q...
Individuals are struggling nowadays to acquire an education higher than a high school diploma. One of the main reasons for this issue could be very well the price it is to attend college. The prices have skyrocketed throughout the years. A lot of the people who attend college have to take out a “student loan,” just so they can get by. I believe one should not need to be in serious debt before they even graduate, all because they want to go out and further their education, and become successful in their life. College is a popular topic for most and Sanford J. Ungar and Charles Murray has a unique way of explaining both their opinions.
College is an experience of a lifetime . It's very expensive so for most they do not get the opportunity .They do not get the opportunity to get a higher education . Without a higher education most people can not receive a good well paying job . Now most of the United States attends or have graduated college . Which makes it hard for everyone to have a well paying job .
Everything revolves around money and the economy. Hunter Rawling stated, “Most everyone now evaluates college in purely economic terms, thus reducing it to a commodity like a car or a house.” (Rawling, 2015, paragraph 3) I agree with the author with this quote because I personally think that college is reducing the commodity and also bringing it back up. College is not a commodity, economic value is not all there is to college. “If we were to treat college as a commodity, and an expensive one at that, we should at least grasp the essence of its economic nature.” (Rawling, 2015, paragraph 4) I like this quote because, everyone thinks of commodity as something good. But, really in reality it is not. It makes you think twice and not want to discuss things that are important. The most important thing for
College, a gateway for expanding the horizons within our youth has many conflicting ideas due to it's cost, suggesting that it may not even be worth it. Yet thinking about having this privilege of exposing our minds to anything and everything we desire while providing ourselves with far more opportunity in the future makes every late night double shift, staying up until 3 am, living off ramen noodles well worth it.
In addition, the writer of “The Benefits of a College Degree” wrote that”One of the most important and obvious reasons to earn a college degree is to increase your earning potential”(“The Benefits”). While it is true that college is indubitably expensive, the years of learning a particular trade or skill for the future of career of these students is important and worth the cost. Also, students can apply for a variety of scholarships for different amounts of money to help pay for college and lower the amount of debt caused by schooling. Furthermore, multiple students believe that a college education is not needed for their future and that they can get good paying jobs without it. This philosophy does not apply to any good paying careers with the exception of the military and some construction jobs. The good paying jobs require at least a bachelor’s degree in many cases, except for a few that require an
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, some 20.5 million students are expected to attend American colleges and universities, constituting an increase of about 5.2 million since fall 2000. In addition to this increase of incoming college students, the constant question of “why” does as well. You have one side that says yes! They believe that college is the answer to America’s problems, while the other hand, says that college is not necessarily the answer. Although both of these sides seem to be on the opposite spectrum of everything; they both agree on a few common themes. One being that they both desire for America to be greater and that the quality of everyone 's lives to be the best they can possibly be.
College is thought of as what every parent wants for their child, so they can go off andmake something of themselves. For the most part, this is true. Those who attend college arebetter off than those who do not, on average, earning far more than their undereducatedcounterparts. College is a worthwhile investment and should be pursued by all who have thechance because it helps students further their knowledge, it is a place to find who you are, and itgives them a different perspective of the world.College is worth the cost because if college was available for everybody and collegedegrees were handed out as commonly and at the same rate as high school diplomas then collegewould not be that special. Therefore, college would just be an extension of high school. Ifanyone could get their hands on a degree, how would you be able to get the job you want? It isbetter for college to cost money because if a student really wants to attend college and furthertheir education, they should have already been willing to pay or to find a way to pay for collegeto get the upper hand on the general
...ave changed and college is extremely expensive now. There are not enough jobs openings for college graduates which leaves them unemployed with heavy debt. The vast majority of jobs in America require only vocational training or a skill certificate. People who do not have the aptitude for college should not be forced into thinking college is the only way to be successful in life. Society should encourage students to explore all job options not just the college related ones, because with the way times are changing getting trained from a vocational school is the best option America’s citizens have.
College education goes about the way to an effective future for people who are not kidding with it. Currently, a college education has turned in the base necessity in securing a job in different companies and although some people might think college is not worth the debt, in a long run it actually is.
It is said that most people perceive post-secondary education to not be important as it actually is. College graduates have the advantage of being able to have a better chance of having a quality life (study.com). A girl named Savita Doke from Mumbai, India got her Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science by working hard. Despite the fact that Doke was extremely poor she still worked every night at her job in order to pay for her schooling. After she graduated from college she was able to get a well-paying job to support her family financially. Savita said her most important life goal was reached (DNAIndia, 2015). Although, Adam Ozimek believes people can get good paying jobs without having to go to college. Ozimek stated
College. It is the seven-letter word that almost every child will hear thousands of times while they are growing up. They constantly are bombarded by the idea that they must go to college if they want to be successful. However, what if this is a false statement. What if college isn’t as great as everyone makes it out to seem. Well, these days some people believe that young people are better off, not going to college. Over the years the economy around the world has changed. It has prospered, and it has fallen. As the economy went downhill the government began cutting funds in areas that they felt were necessary to exterminate. One of the largest areas of funding that was cut was education. Colleges began receiving less money from the government, resulting in a rapid increase of college tuition fees. Due to this, a lot of people believe that college tuition is too expensive for what you get, and not worth the money. However, most people believe that college is necessary in order to further their education, and in order for them to earn their degree. They think that this degree has the ability to help college graduates get a job and work up to a career that only someone with a college level degree is able to achieve. The truth lies in the facts, and statistics. College is the seven-letter word that all people should be thinking about. A college education is a valuable investment that everyone should strive to achieve, and is completely worth the expensive cost.
College is a very important thing. If you go to college you will most likely get better pay in your career. Also, with a college degree, you have more opportunities. Everything that I have stated is true and is why I believe that everyone should go to college. College is actually a very good thing for people to do. It just takes some effort and time. If everyone goes to college then society saves a lot of money and they have a higher chance to be healthier. So what if college costs some money won’t it be worth it in the
...s comes with college being too expensive and is growing at a rate higher than inflation (Kantrowitz). There are many great jobs out there that don’t require a degree and pay good as well as on the job training. The truths many people aren’t willing to admit are getting a college degree will lead people to better careers too. People don’t need a college degree to be successful, but having an education is important, along with a desire to continue to learn, work hard, and adapt.
