The book Into The Wild, written by Jon Krakauer, tells the story of Chris McCandless a young man who abandoned his life in search of something more meaningful than a materialistic society. In 1992 Chris gave his $ 25,000 savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, and burned all of his money to chase his dream. Chris’s legacy was to live in simplicity, to find his purpose, and to chase his dreams.
Another inspiring women abolitionist in the 18th century, Jarena Lee, produced The Life and Religious Experiences of Jarena Lee, which is a women’s spiritual autobiography. Lee believed God called her to preach, despite the impropriety of women preachers due to the time period. Lee experienced hostility and prejudice as she traveled and spread the word of the Gospel, but continued to fight for her devotion to faith with the intention of fulfilling her calling from God. In The Life and Religious Experiences of Jarena Lee, Lee formats her text as a sermon and associated her qualifications with her production of a religious service in order to convince her audience of her abilities. Also, Lee associates herself with male ministers because of shared characteristics and experiences.

Shaun Calluarman’s argument with Chris McCandless shares the real life perspective of how his lifestyle was the cause of his death. Shaun stated that Chris had no business and no common sense going into the Alaskan wilderness. For Chris, unprepared, no family, and no home wasn’t going to survive outside with nothing to him. We can see it coming as the story builds up until he finally is able to get to Alaska. Shaun thinks Chris is arrogant, reckless, and crazy.
Television has affected every aspect of life in society, radically changing the way individuals live and interact with the world. However, change is not always for the better, especially the influence of television on political campaigns towards presidency. Since the 1960s, presidential elections in the United States were greatly impacted by television, yet the impact has not been positive. Television allowed the public to have more access to information and gained reassurance to which candidate they chose to vote for. However, the media failed to recognize the importance of elections. Candidates became image based rather than issue based using a “celebrity system” to concern the public with subjects regarding debates (Hart and Trice). Due to “hyperfamiliarity” television turned numerous people away from being interested in debates between candidates (Hart and Trice). Although television had the ability to reach a greater number of people than it did before the Nixon/Kennedy debate, it shortened the attention span of the public, which made the overall process of elections unfair, due to the emphasis on image rather than issue.
Intellectual quality is embedded through the elements of deep knowledge and understanding and substantive communication (NSW DET, 2003, p. 10). Throughout the lesson, focus is sustained on key concepts such as cursive writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary. Students are then given opportunities both orally and written, to express and demonstrate their understanding and competency. Extension options are also available for students where they can use digital technologies to publish their work or write in calligraphy once the set task is completed. (NSW DET, 2003, p. 11). For students to achieve higher quality outcomes, they need to be highly engaged and willing to participate (NSW DET, 2003, p. 10). This can be achieved through establishing challenging learning goals within each students’ proximal development and providing work that is intellectually stimulating, relates to real life and meet the needs of each student in order to gain confidence first (AITSL, 2011; Berk, 2013, pp. 267-268).

David Brin's quote is not true, since there is more evidence to support that power will corrupt when given to anyone. Power tends to alter the nature of people in three main ways. The first way is the “because I can” factor. This means people will rely on their power to meet their desires. The second is power unearths the animal nature in people which can induce them to focus higher on themselves.

Evolution is the process of change that has morphed beginning life into the large variety of organisms there are today. Biology can be organized into different levels: biosphere, ecosystems, communities, populations, organisms, organs and organ systems, tissues, cells, organelles, and finally molecules. Scientists use these levels as a form of reductionism, or the technique of breaking down complicated systems to smaller elements for easier studying. Every level has properties that the last one did not known as emergent properties. Biologists use systems biology side-by-side with reductionism in order to fully analyze these properties.

In a generation with rapid technology growth, technology has various perspectives. Many believes that it has so many benefits whereas other believe its causing more damage to our youth. Even if technology gives children so much access to the everything and everything, the negative repercussions amount to more than the positive. Schools need to consider the negative impacts before throwing kids into an all technology environment, which entails the inability to develop life skills because of the ever changing development of technology, the lack of imagination and attention span within students. Schools need to recognize the life skills the students lack because of the huge involvement technology has in their lives.

Two days a week in the morning, the children participate in a reading and writing block called “literacy and writing workshop.” The classroom is organized into five different levels with one group having one extra person; the levels are based on scoring of reading assessments. The groups are rotated so that each may spend 15 minutes cycles with either the teacher or Para-educator. The groups not with an instructor were to work on the “Daily-5” (explanation later) until their scheduled lesson. After the students finish their lesson, they are to fill the remainder of the workshop time working on “Daily-5.” This workshop is part of a regular routine. The assignment is usually to write a five sentence paragraph and color a picture related to the reading.
