Historians speculate that the Kauikeaouli’s birthday was around August 11th. Later in life Kauikeaouli chose March 17th as his birthday after learning about Saint Patrick from an irish friend. The name Kauikeaouli is believed to mean “Placed in Dark Clouds.” His father was Kamehameha the Great, and his mother was Keōpūolani.
