During my high school career being involved in activities was important to me. Yearbook, SWAV (Students with a Voice), Student Senate, Gymnastics, Volleyball, and Miss Trempealeau were the activities I showed off my leadership. In Yearbook I showed my leadership by being an editor. I helped design templates and write the captions on each page of the yearbook. During my senior year, I worked very hard on the yearbook and did it with help from only a few people. Only being a part of yearbook for a year, I have learned a lot about leadership and what it takes to get 100 pages done in two months. I also show my leadership in SWAV. SWAV stands for “Student with a Voice” and it’s a group of sixteen kids who meet with the Principal during the school …show more content…
year and talk about problems that are going on in our school or district. I’ve been on SWAV since my sophomore year. These students are selected by the Principal and this group involved leadership to be a part of. Student Senate was another club during my high school career I was a part of since my sophomore year.
My sophomore and junior year I was in the position of Class Representative, and my senior year I became Vice President. This organization helps run dances, after school assemblies, and homecoming week. My last club I was a part of was FCCLA. FCCLA stands for “Family, Community, and Career Leaders of America”. FCCLA was one of my greatest accomplishments in my high school career. We have a variety of events that one could choose to do for competition, and my junior year, my partner and I chose “Hospitality, Tourism, & Recreation.” We designed a company and thought of all the details it would need to be successful. In this event we made it to Nationals in San Diego, CA. We received a silver at Nationals, but we were very proud of the award we received. This club also gives everyone the opportunity to go to Leadership events, which I did. They were seminars that showed the importance of leadership and bringing it to your community, school, and careers. FCCLA was the most beneficial in learning leadership skills. Another organization I was a part of is in my hometown, they have an organization called the, “Trempealeau Lions.” The Lions run everything from our town festival to organizing events in the
community. This year I was lucky enough to run for Miss Trempealeau, and received 2nd Attendant. My platform for running was to Promote Trempealeau. This showed my leadership because I created pamphlets and talked to members of the Chamber to help recreate the website. Being a part of the royalty alone has taught me a lot about leadership, and how it’s important to have when working hard to promote somewhere I love. The last two extra-curricular activities in which I showed my leadership was Volleyball and Gymnastics. In Volleyball, I was a part of the Varsity team both my junior and senior year. Our team never really stood out to people, because our losing streak was at a high point. I used leadership whenever I would talk to my teammates about what we could improve on. I was a captain for my senior year, and trying to make the girls believe in themselves really helped improve my leadership skills. Lastly, gymnastics was a sport I used my leadership skills in. I have been on the varsity gymnastics team my entire high school career. During my senior year I became a captain and I have worked to help design t-shirts, jackets, made photography sessions, and worked to help organize our videos online. This year in gymnastics I took my leadership skills to a new level, and really stepped up as a leader. In high school I am happy to say I am proud with all of my leadership opportunities and skills I have gained.
Throughout the years of being a student at Council Rock, I have come to the realization of what a true leader is. A leader is not someone that just plans events, collects money, or shows up to meetings. Rather, this is someone that has a true connection with their peers, and has unmatched passion for what they do. With this, I can confidently say that since seventh grade, as a young adult, I have been shaped into an individual that fits these traits. Since that time, I have been involved in student government,
Clubs were a great way for me to expand my interests outside of athletics. I was involved in Key Club and FCA freshman year and I enjoyed meeting new people and making a difference in our community. I was inducted a member of NHS junior year and this was a great way to make service a priority.
I’ve demonstrated leadership qualities in various ways throughout my time at high school. During the drafting competition, my group needed some confidence and someone there to help guide them to victory, and I was there to help them. A group works together, but sometimes you need a leader. This leader will help facilitate and get the group to do what they’re supposed to do. I think I helped ease off their nerves and I told them to relax and do how we practiced. This paid off because we placed first place and each of us
My most fulfilling leadership experience would have to be starting the 4-H Medical Careers Spin Club. I started the club three years ago, to allow teens to have opportunities to experience the medical field before they spend money on a career they may end up not liking. The Club has been able to tour medical schools, hospitals, cancer centers, and many other facilities. I was instrumental in getting three teens in the club to apply and get accepted to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Physician Pipeline Preparatory Program I am involved in. Countless people in the medical field kept wanting to help me gain medical opportunities, but HR departments and HIPAA rules kept getting in the way. Through this experience, I learned that
Leadership a vital aspect in National Honor Society and it is essential in the professional world as well. Taking the initiative to help is others is one way I demonstrate leadership, in addition, to putting others needs before my own. Furthermore, I strive to always be dependable and reliable both in and outside of school. At Lakes International Language Academy, I
Despite not being a part of over 20 different organizations, as some claim to be, being a part of a smaller number of groups has allowed me to focus on developing my leadership skills more thoroughly than I could otherwise. Not spreading myself too thin has made me much more committed and involved in the organizations that I am a part of, making my influences so much stronger. I firmly believe that I am trying my absolute best not only in school, but in leaving my comfort zone and being an active member in our community. I am honored that I have been considered for such a prestigious invitation as
This club is known for recognizing students who demonstrated excellence in all areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Once a member of the club, you continue to expand your excellence by doing countless amounts of volunteering and showing your leadership skills. One volunteer project I enjoyed doing was becoming a peer helper. I hated seeing many of my classmates struggle with math and science. They knew if they didn’t pass the class they couldn’t graduated. So instead of letting them fail I took time out of my day and tutored many students in subjects like algebra, geometry, and chemistry. When I was helping my peers I did my best to find their inner confidence towards wanting to be successful. I believed this is what made me a true leader, because I didn’t allow my peers to become failures.
Involvement in marching band, field hockey, and various other activities has given me many opportunities to show leadership. My first leadership opportunity was in eighth grade when I became a WEB leader. While I was a WEB leader, I helped incoming sixth graders get adjusted to middle school life and find their classes on the first day. I also met up with the sixth graders in my group once a month at lunch and got to know them while I asked how school was going and helped them with any issues they had. In marching band, this past season I was a marching captain for my section. I helped the freshmen learn to march, demonstrated proper marching techniques for others, and gave advice to anyone having trouble with part of our marching show. At the start of field hockey season I showed leadership by helping new players learn to play field hockey by demonstrating how
The chance to be considered for the privilege to join the National Junior Honor Society is an honor. Being part of this program will be useful in many ways; including being helpful for academics, developing leadership skills, helping to build character, working with other individuals as a team, giving back to the community, and above all it will prepare for college.
Being a leader is no simple task. During my Eagle Scout project, I lead a range of people, from adults to youth. It was my job to make sure everyone was working and, that everyone was capable of doing their task. I had many issues doing this throughout my project because I am only one person and I can’t be everywhere at once. Thusly made being a leader a drudgery. But I had an incredible set of adults guiding me along the way, who taught me that being a leader was not doing everything myself, being a leader
The best leadership accomplishment that demonstrates my potential to make significant contributions to the campus community and broader society is cheerleading. Cheerleading has made a huge impact on my life and has created many opportunities for me. It has paved the way for my high school career. Cheerleading provided me with opportunities to lead, volunteer, perform and show the athletic ability of our squad.
I first encountered the significance of leadership in the tenth grade. Berry College the largest campus in the U.S. was in search of school ambassadors to serve part in a seminar known as HOBY. To get chosen you had to write an essay describing your leadership roles, and at that moment I thought that I did not have any. I literally did not know what it meant to be a leader. I had to brainstorm till I remembered going through one of the most difficult times of my life. The lack of understanding the English language became one of my biggest obstacles, and even caused me to repeat a chapter of my life. However, I did not cease; I continued to fight and strove to help others who were susceptible of following my steps. I used my story as an example, and hoped that it would make a difference in someone else’s life.

Leadership and community service activities are things that can help a person develop throughout their life. They are a great way to help others and provide a sense of accomplishment to those who donate their time and effort. Through my leadership and service I have made a positive impact not only on my school and family, but also on my community, church, and my job. These actions have made a difference and changed many individuals’ outlook on life.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. This year, I am the Spirit Leader of Student Council encouraging monthly goals and themes and assisting in school events. From creating a student council with a group of peers three years ago we have had success in many events and have found new ways to spread spirit, gather important information and assist with financial groups. Recently, I stepped up to be the leader of the fundraising committee for our ...
