My Sustainability Assessment will address the effects of the using Tampons ecologically, socially, and economically. According to the new book Flow: The Cultural History of Menstruation, an average woman will dispose of 250 to 300 pounds of tampons in 38 years. (Kim & Stein, 2009) Tampons are undeniably important in a female's life. It is affordable and convenient to use. Tampons are also readily available in every groceries and convenient store. I am relatively new in using tampons, as I usually use menstrual pads. However, most of my friends use them because they can carry them discretely. They can also move freely without worrying about the blood leakage. Although, the question is: What's wrong with Tampons? Most of the tampons end up in landfills which takes a long time to decompose. In my case, I use up a box of tampons, depending on the flow of my menstruation. I would throw them out in the garbage bin, along with its plastic applicator. I never imagined that one tampon could leave a great impact on the environment. Women would produce 62,415 pounds of garbage worth of tampons in her lifetime. (EPA, 2017) These tampons would also end up in landfills which will take longer to decompose because of its dense fiber product. (Bridle & Kirkpatrick, 2004) The little plastic applicators can also cause a detrimental effect on the marine ecosystem, as they can travel to long distances. (Ashley et al,. 2005) They could confuse the plastic applicators as food. (Sheavly & Register, 2007) In regards to its production, a tampon is cotton based. The cotton used is genetically modified and inorganic to increase the production rate. (Chow, 2015, para. 9) These can cause impacts to the species living in the surroundings, and to the women using it as
Generational conflicts, political strife, environmental regulations, stakeholders in big oil, and many more hurdles affect the push to fully sustainable economies around the world and even here in America. In a world where coal, oil, and natural gas are limited, countries are gobbling it all up as fast as they can before other poorer countries come on the grid. Even though America and other countries gobble up these resources the life of the people is still a struggle to meet basic needs. Sustainability is an intermingling of resource use and protection of the “quality of life”, it is met by using resources sparingly and by recycling or reducing the use of other non-renewable resources to provide for our immediate need, but also to conserve and protect the needs of the next generation and to improve the quality of all the lives to come.

From reading the paper I can honestly see the hard work you put into it. While reading your paper I notice the use of standard vocabulary words, I found this to be a great idea, in my view it help to persuade readers on the level of text they’re reading, but in other words the paper is not graded on how much vocabulary words you can come up with, I’m not saying using standard vocabulary is a horrible thing but instead focusing your paper on vocabulary words that might get your reader confused and have them searching the web for definition, I honestly advice since this is a argumentative
The US Container Recycling Institute estimates that 67 million plastic water bottles are discarded every day, which is enough to wrap around the planet 149 times each year. Therefore, plastic water bottles should be banned from public use. The usage of water bottles should be suppressed because they are incredibly dangerous, wasteful, expensive, and rarely recycled. Researchers have stated that plastic bottles containing water can contain many harmful chemicals. After close examination of the plastic, researchers have concluded that some plastics contain chemicals, such as phthalates, bisphenol A (BPA), endocrine disruptors, and carcinogens, which may leach into the water, especially after being stagnant for long periods of time.
Plastic has an extreme impact on the environment. Trash, consisting of paper or organic waste, decomposes after a while, unlike plastic in which one plastic bottle takes from 450 up to 1000 years to decompose. The incorrectly discarded plastics are swept up by large ocean currents, and over time degrade into microscopic particles. These microparticles may be the cause of various adverse human and wildlife health effects, such as infertility and the inhibition of growth.
