Ally Carter’s “All Fall Down” is perfect for teens who love suspense and drama Ally Carter’s All fall down takes place on Embassy row, in a country bordering Iran, known as Adria. The story took place somewhere near present day, with the story occurring over the course of a few days. Grace, at the young age of 13, had witnessed the murder of her mother and the man who killed her. Everyone says that it was an accident, but she knows for sure who the killer. She is certain of it. The only problem is, nobody believes her. Not even her grandfather, who is a powerful ambassador, or all her new friends, who live on embassy row. But someday, she will find the killer and make him pay. Grace Blakely is the protagonist in All Fall Down. She has blonde bushy hair, brown eyes, tall, and she’s usually dirty. takes after her mother, as described by her grandfather, and Dominik. Grace never stops, even when the odds are against her, which shows that she is very determined. She also is very stubborn, as when she “found” the killer, but refused to believe it was wasn’t him. Noah Miguel Esteban is Grace’s best friend in the series. Noah has spiky black hair and dark brown eyes. He is also described as tall and thin by most of his other friends. He is caring and empathetic, and doesn’t like it when people lie to him and don't trust him. Other characters in the book Alexei Volkov William Vincent (grandfather) Rosie Megan I loved this book.
The book is fully packed with suspense and mystery, and has a massive plot twist at the end. In one chapter, Grace is eavesdropping on a conversation with the “scarred man” and is nearly caught. The suspense compels us to want to read more from the series to find out what happens next. The book also has many original concepts too, like ambassadors from all over the world, all living in one place, and i have never read anything similar to it before. like when The book is aimed towards teens, and the characters make everything in it more relatable to their lives, and the story itself is easy to read with all the dialogue, which, in my opinion, made much it more enjoyable. Ally Carter is a great author, and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future. I think the book is great the way it is, although there may be a way to make it better. I wasn’t clearly able to imagine the characters in my mind, and I was also having a hard time visualising the setting, so I think that Ally Carter should have been more descriptive in the
book.
Evaluation: I thought the book was very exciting and suspenseful like her other books. The book had very good detail and an interesting plot. I liked the twist when Juan and the girl’s father came upon Glenn walking down the road. I also liked how the author described the action in great detail. It made me feel like I was right there seeing it all happen firsthand. I don’t think that the author could’ve made this book any better than she did already.
The book had a few characters that I liked, but a lot of characters that I disliked. For example Yasmine was a character that I disliked. I didn’t like her because she brought pain to Paige’s life. Yasmine and Paige were best friends for months in Sixth grade. They were constantly doing fun activities together, like having sleepovers or planning each other’s birthday parties, but all that was ruined by a mistake Yasmine made. Paige and Yasmine were at a school dance, when
Fans of the novel found that the way the novel is written, you never want to put it down and the action keeps things moving and is quite entertaining. The novel pulls you in and makes you love each of the main characters in it. This is a great series for anyone to read, and it is audience friendly for whoever reads them. There is quite a bit of suspense that will make the novel exceed readers 's expectations, and the twists and turns keeps you guessing and lets nothing be predictable. Some like the way this group of people bands together when they really need to and keep things together so they can all stop the
I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. Several scenes pleasantly caught me off guard and some were extremely hilarious, namely, the visit to Martha Oldcrow. I found myself really fond of the char...
There are some things I would have changed about the novel to make it more interesting reading and to broaden the type of audience it addresses. In my opinion, the book was kind of targeted at a feminine audience, especially single mothers. When Taylor and Lou Ann get together, Lou Ann sounds kind of pathetic saying " Who in the world would want to move in here with us" (102), yet they develop a strong friendship regardless. I had kind of a hard time focusing on what was going on and who was doing what mainly because the story wasn't interesting enough to attract my attention. Perhaps by throwing in a little more suspense or more action, the novel would have been more fun to read.
In the novel, Saving Grace, author Lee Smith follows the life of a young woman who was raised in poverty by an extremely religious father. In this story Grace Shepherd, the main character, starts out as a child, whose father is a preacher, and describes the numerous events, incidents, and even accidents that occur throughout her childhood and towards middle age, in addition, it tells the joyous moments that Grace experienced as well. Grace also had several different relationships with men that all eventually failed and some that never had a chance. First, there was a half brother that seduced her when she was just a child, then she married a much older man when she was only seventeen, whose “idea of the true nature of God came closer to my own image of Him as a great rock, eternal and unchanging” (Smith 165). However, she succumbs to an affair with a younger man that prompted a toxic relationship. What caused her to act so promiscuous and rebel against everything she had been taught growing up? The various men in Grace 's life all gave her something, for better or worse, and helped to make her the person she became at the end of the novel.
As a result of Grace meeting Charlie Mayne (C.B. Whiting) in Martha’s Vineyard, Grace Confesses what she had done to the local Catholic Priest. When Grace and Miles returned home, Miles noticed how unhappy his mother was. After days of staying in her room she decided that she needed to go and confess her transgressions to Father Tom. Miles, not wanting to say anything about what his mom did, decided to make up and confess sins that he felt were just as zbad as the ones that he wouldn’t tell. After he confessed to the priest, “Miles knelt and sai...
My overall opinion of this book is good I really liked it and recommend it to anyone. It is a good book to read and it keep you interested throughout the whole book.
I think my favorite thing about this novel was the realistic ending. Some books try to just give you a fairy tale but this book had an ending that mad you think in the end if I was in the same position would I do the same thing. I didn’t like the fact that the novel portrayed mental illness in a way to say that it needed to be hidden and protected. I thought this novel was very believable for the time period that it was set in. I think the ending to this novel was perfect it was an accurate ending to this
In my perspective, I thought that The Help by Katheryn Stockett was an exciting and special book which enhanced me views or race, class, and gender. This fantastic book gave me the thought of how life was like down in Mississippi during the 1960's. The Help gave me different standpoints and characteristics that had taken place with places still segregated by the color of their own skin. These viewpoints hit my mind that gave me the option to judge the book by how life was viewed upon by society in the past and present time.
This book will appeal to anyone who loves a lot of adventure and a lot of suspense. The author continuously adds suspense throughout the book. One example of this would be when Thomas says, “Thomas had to trust Newt. He had to do this for his friend, but curiosity burned inside him like a brushfire. He knew, though, that he had no time to waste. They had to get everyone out of the WICKED complex. He could talk to Newt more in the Berg—if they could get to the hangar and convince Jorge to help them.” This shows suspense because the reader is trying to figure out what Newt is not telling Thomas. This also builds suspense in the reader because they are trying to figure out why they have leave in such a hurry. The author also tries to convey a lot of adventure throughout book. One time when Thomas and the others experienced danger would be when, “He shifted again, looked back over his shoulder. Minho and Newt were each straddling a guard, beating the living klunk out of them. Jorge stood in between the Gladers, shooting his fiery Launcher in all directions.”. This shows a lot of adventure because its so exciting and so much is going on. It also shows a lot of adventure because Thomas and the others are all going through such a hazardous situation which is sure to bring the reader to the edge of their seat. Without a doubt, this story is one that will be loved by
Grace Marks, the main character in Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood, is undoubtedly guilty. The evidence against her is way too much to consider innocence. Feeling sympathy towards Grace seems easy, especially since she tries to make it out to seem that she is the victim, but when looking at the facts only, it is obvious that the evidence all points against her. She has motives, Grace has left evidence, and her stories are not consistent with each other. The evidence, as well as the motives signify her guilt, not her being a victim of an unfair system.
Personally, I love this book. The suspense is spell-binding, but it is the magnificently synthesized psychological dysfunction of the cast that is oddly addictive. I am not too embarrassed to admit that over the summer I listened to the complete audio version three times. And, for those of you still wondering; it is more thrilling than Gone Girl.
series for two reasons. The first reason is because it ties up all the questions I had from the other books. This book really was a good ending, for me at least. And the second reason is because it’s just a great book. It has mystery, suspense, humor, action and many more things that keep you from putting the book down. On a scale of one to ten I would rate this ten and it is also my number one favorite book (so far).
I chose “The Assistant” by Robert Walser because the title caught my attention on the book list. It was published in 1908 but translated from German in 2007 by Susan Bernofsky. I seemed to guess that this book would be about inventions and the like. Innovation captivates my interest and I feel as if I am on a journey with the characters as they expand their own horizons.
