My primary goal is to become a Surgical Technician/Medical Assistant. I've done tons of research on the career and I feel it best suits my interest, my work ethic and my hunger for the expansion of knowledge. I plan on attending VCU for four years, majoring in Bio-Science. After receiving my Bachelors Degree I will exercise my studies and apply them to my future career at any hospital or medical center of my choice at that moment, such as CJW Medical Center (Chippenham Campus), or St.Mary's Hospital and etc. I feel VCU has what I need to succeed because of their very proficient MCV program. Approximately nine through twelve hundred students every year graduate under a major which involved the MCV program.The environment is very positive and
the scenery also plays a big part by putting people in the actuality of the medical field. MCV provides students with an experience which Isn't available anywhere else that shows and gives one a feel for their studies not only alone but with dozens and maybe even hundreds of people just like myself looking for a prominent career in the Medical Department. VCU has eliminated the option of failure with the installment of this program & nevertheless all of the other courses offered abided by this similar Profession regarding Science.This place is definitely somewhere I would absolutely love to place myself in order to follow the path to success I've chosen and be prosperous in my career.

Everyday life in a hospital is complete and absolute chaos. There are doctors and nurses running everywhere to treat patients, ambulances coming through every so often, children and patients crying, and surgeons telling a family that their loved one did not make it. However, outside of all that craziness is an operating room (OR). A place filled with pressure, intensity, high hopes, and stress. There to help control the environment is a surgical technologist. While preparing patients for surgery, surgical technologists manage the equipment and operating room, follow the instructions of the surgeon, and ensure the safety of the patient.
Surgical Technologist are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients in variety of methods. Surgical technologist works under medical supervision of a surgeon to maintain a safe and effective conduct of surgical procedures in the operating room, making sure equipments function properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patients safety.
I have been in healthcare for about 6 years now. I started off as a nutritionist in a hospital setting, working with patients of all health statuses. I worked closely with doctors to determine what meal plan would best suit each patient. I went to work day after day to meet a new group of patients who were previously admitted the night before; very rarely did I work long term with one particular patient. Although I enjoyed helping people change their eating habits and educating them on how to better their health, at the end of the day I felt like there was something missing; I wanted more.
As for how medical assistants can interact with patient data, it’s recommended that you consult the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for their “meaningful use” requirements. In October 2012, CMS issued a guidance regarding eligible professionals under the meaningful use incentive program. Attending Florida Southwestern State College to become an x-ray tech is a huge accomplish for me. Because I have a learning disability unfortunately I have to take remedial courses like intermediate algebra, Brush up English, and a reading course the first semester. As the population grows and chronic diseases spreads, The future projection of PA is growing faster than the average careers.

Practicing in the medical field is a respectable profession, since its main goal is to help others when they are in need. Although, I’m not sure of what job I will have, I do know that it will be in the field of medicine. I hope through the mentoring program I will be able to decide if a Certified Medical Assistant is the job for me.

This job includes things like taking blood samples, giving shots, check-ups, etc. Any interests I have had within this career is that you help others, prescribe medicine if they are in need, being prompt and taking care of others. Related talents to this career that I have is enjoying helping people, experiencing blood, doing regular check-ups etc. I have selected medical assisting as a career because its easy/ great training in under a year, employment growth, and flexible schedule. I believe that being a medical assisting is the best career for me.
Since starting this class, introduction to health care, I have begun to think about what the future holds for me and what I will pursue with my college degree. At this point in time my career goal is to become a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery. I plan on working in a hospital setting where I can continue to learn and practice my profession.
