Supercross is divided into three different championships which are the 250cc west coast, the 250cc east coast, and the 450cc class. The 250 classes are split in half with the west coast class racing on the west coast and the east coast class racing in the east, while the 450’s race on both east and west coasts. Each 250 division races the finally in Las Vegas in a 250 east/west shootout. In each round there are two practices in wich the fastest riders move onto the night show. The night show has heat races in wich the top nine riders in the 250 class move on, and
the top four in the 450 class move on. After the heat races, there are two semis for the 450 class in wich the top five move on. There are also two last chance qualifiers or LCQ's to determine the last two riders in the main event for both the 250's and the 450's. In the main event, there are twenty riders in both classes. In the 250 class main event, you race for fifteen minutes plus one lap. In the 450 class main event, you race for twenty minutes plus one lap. At the end of every main event, points are rewarded based on the finishing position of the rider. The winner receives 25 points, second place receives 22 points and third receives 20 points. Everybody after third place receives 2 points less than the position in front of them. The points system is the same in both classes. At the end of the series the rider who has accumulated the most points wins the championship, however, the championship can be awarded before the final round if that rider has enough points to be able to not finish the rest of the season. I woke up at six to shower and eat breakfast. We were out the door and 6:30 and off to Ashland, Nebraska. We had the hammer down only stopping in Ashland to grab three Red Bulls apiece. We chugged our energy drinks while driving a couple miles out of town to the raceway hoping to get awaken by the rush of the sugar. We parked our truck by our buddy Jacob after getting signed in and paying our entry fees. We made fun of Jacob for awhile for being such a die hard and having to be one of the first ones at the track. Setting up our canopy and unloading our bikes took about 5 minutes because we wanted to hurry up and walk the track. The track was a freaking mud pit. They had overwatered it. I was hoping that it would stay a little muddier after practice until the moto’s because I could out ride three-fourths of the guys in my class in the mud. After the track walk we all walked back to our trucks and got our gear on. The C riders were first to practice. The first kid to start up his bike just revved the piss out of it not letting it warm up like it should. We started shaking our heads because our dads taught us to respect your things and not mistreat them. Leaving our little camp
Throughout time, the progression and evolution of snowboarding has increased greatly. It has gone from non existence in the late 1970’s, to one of the most watched action sports in a matter of thirty-five years. The upward takeoff and popularity of snowboarding relies on two people, Jake Burton and Shaun White. Jake Burton back in 1977 had the vision for what snowboarding would be, but Shaun White had what it took to manifest that vision. Evidence has shown that time brings change in sports, history has repeated itself with snowboarding, this history reflects the time & changes that has occurred in America.

Speediness, adrenaline, and the beauty of mind and body combine with a machine. Every racer lined up at the starting gate with their steel horses to achieve the desire of winning. These are some words that try to described what supercross is about, but is not even close to what really is. Over the years I have known people that don’t know anything about supercross; they believe that is an easy sport that just twists the throttle and hold on to the bike. For some, it might not even be consider as a sport because they believe that engines are not a sport. These kind of people will say that supercross does not requires any technique or much skills as others sports without engines. Here is some background information to my reader to get familiar with the sport. Supercross is an indoor sport that takes places in different stadiums around the US. In this races racers risk their life every time they are at the starting gate to win racers and finally to win the championship and be the fastest rider in the US. Through this essay I will provide fears, misperceptions and misunderstandings from people who don’t know about supercross. Secondly, I will respond to their claim with strong arguments and personal experience. Finally, I will construct a convincing conclusion where I will try to open the eyes to my audience, which are people who don’t know about supercross.

...meone to rely on if they get injured in some sort of way. At every race or every ride on a dirt bike there is that risk of getting severely injured because of dangerous part of the sport. Since motocross and supercross are very dangerous and high risk sports, a foundation like Road 2 Recovery is very important to just help the sport prosper and keep its riders safe to keep the fans happy (“Welcome to the Road 2 Recovery Foundation” 1). This is why Jimmy Button, Bob Moore, Bob Walker, and Shane Trittler built this foundation from the ground up to help this sport. They dedicate every dollar to help these injured riders come back from their career ending injuries to make them have something to rely on. Now the racer who just crashed and horribly broke his leg and part of his knee will have every type of support from the Road 2 Recovery foundation that is needed.

Freestyle is full of wild tricks, jumping and speed. The rider can be seen high in the air doing aerials, grinding berms, grabbing the board, jumping lumps, or riding backwards. Freestyle mimics skateboarding. Freestylers use natural obstacles to do their tricks. Riders find fallen trees, old buildings, bumps, dips and jumps where they can catch air and get their adrenaline going. They will also go to areas that have man made obstacle courses that resemble a skate park. In essence, it is a skatepark on the snow. These obstacles include ramps, jumps, and grinding bars. Freestylers also play in the halfpipe. It is a tightly packed area where dangerous tricks are performed. The rider must have great skill as they are moving extremely fast and catching major
