Finally, the day is here. It's time for another Super Bowl Sunday, and this one is a doozy.
Super Bowl 50 will kick off at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, at 6:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. local time). It's a stellar matchup between the Denver Broncos (14-4) and the Carolina Panthers (17-1), pitting the No. 1 defense against the No. 1 offense, respectively. The Broncos got here by winning the AFC Championship Game 20-18 over the New England Patriots, while the Panthers won the NFC Championship by beating the Arizona Cardinals 49-15.

That's because the Panthers' offense, led by superstar quarterback Cam Newton, led the NFL with 31.3 points per game in the regular season. In the playoffs, the team has averaged a staggering 40 points per game. Newton, who won the NFL Most Valuable Player Award on Saturday, led the regular season with 45 total touchdowns (35 passing, 10 rushing) and became the first player in NFL history with at least 30 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing scores in a single season.

Intro: In 1946 two members of the New York Giants were found associating with gamblers, trying to fix the NFL Championship Game. These members were suspended and in 1947 the NFL introduced their form of prevention, the injury report (Merritt). Every week NFL coaches have to list their injured players on the NFL Injury Report. Each player has to be listed as either “doubtful,” “questionable,” or “probable” to play that weekend. What a lot of people don’t know is that an ample amount of teams are lying on these reports. By skewing the truth on their player’s injuries it gives that team an advantage. Whether the coaches are putting healthy players on the list, injured players not on the list, or just lying about the severity of the injury, it is all affecting the teams and the fans. I have addressed the problems with the NFL injury report and focused my research on the integrity of the teams and their purpose for lying, how much lying is really going on, and the link between the injury report, the NFL, and gambling.

There is no question that Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. He holds the record for practically every single category for quarterbacks in the NFL. Manning holds the record for most career passing yards at 71,940, most career wins as a quarterback with 200, most career passing TDs with 539, most career 4,000-yard seasons with 14 and the list goes on and on. If so-called experts determine the greatest quarterback of all-time based on statistics alone, then Manning is the runaway winner.
On September 24, 1960 was the first game played for the newly expansioned Cowboys. The game was played at the Cotton Bowl which was the home stadium for the Cowboys, which is also the University of Texas home stadium. That was the highlight of the year as they went through the season winless until the second to last game of the season. They were playing the New York Giants in New York and squeaked out a tie, ending the 1960 season with a record of 0-11-1 (Fleming 1).

Despite a dominant 40-10 win against the San Fransisco 49ers, it is not all good news for the Dallas Cowboys looking back on Sunday evening’s showing. The Dallas Cowboy’s lost All-Pro kicker, Dan Bailey, mid game, due to a groin strain in his kicking leg. It was announced this morning that Bailey could be out for several weeks while recovering.
One of the main reasons why the 49ers could be considered the best team in the National Football League is because they are tied for second place with the most superbowl victories. SanFrancisco won the superbowl in 1981, 1984, 1988, 1989, and 1994. A superbowl is won each year by the best team in football and every year a team strives to get to the playoffs. The 49ers are one of the only eight teams in the NFL to win back to back superbowls in 1988, and 1989. In 1989 SanFrancisco defeated the Denver Broncos in superbowl XXIV 55-10 which to this day is still the largest superbowl victory margin ever .
Friday night football - the night everybody is getting ready for. I can smell the grassy field and the sweaty players. It's five o'clock and I'm getting ready for the game. Taking my time with everything and making sure everything is perfect, from every single strand of hair being in the right place to making sure there are no wrinkles in my uniform. As I look at the clock, it says 5:45, I better hurry up because I have to be at the game at 6, and I still have to pick up your friend. I hurry out the door and speed down the road. As I race down the road, I'm looking everywhere to make sure there's not a cop anywhere. I finally get to my friend's house and wait for her. She comes running out of the house and gets in my car. As I go down the road, she is still putting her make-up on, making sure it is to her perfection. Finally, we reach the football field. We run down to the field, making sure we aren't late, but by the time we get to the field, our make-up is running down our faces and our hair is frizzed up. No one is there yet, just the football player's warming up and us. There is Jock Jams playing in the background to help get the players motivated. We start warming up so that we make sure everything looks good.

Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers will be taking on the Denver Broncos this Sunday, in the final game of the NFL season, the Super Bowl. Recently Cam Newton made a statement, “I’m an African-American quarterback that scares people because they haven’t seen nothing that they can compare me to,” Newton said. (Rhoden) This quote has been criticized all of the nation because he thinks people have been racist toward him because the public thinks he celebrates too much with his dances.
Following one’s hometown team or childhood NFL team through the regular season, playoffs, and hopefully, the Super Bowl has become a staple of today’s culture. Whether or not their favorite team makes it to the big Super Bowl game, they still find themselves cheering on one of the teams competing. This is even the case for non-football fans.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Here you have the Patriots, which have the greatest quarterback of all time in Brady on the back end of his career. Brady is forced to sit out a few games and this kid Jimmy Garoppolo comes in and absolutely lights it up. It looks like the Patriots may have found their signal caller for the next fifteen years, and they still have their old one playing at an elite level!
Every February an event is televised in many different countries and watched by millions of people according to Greg Price in the article “How Many Countries Will Watch the Super Bowl?”. Some of these people would consider this show the greatest show on Earth and many companies would consider it the greatest night of television. This is not the circus it is a sporting event featuring two National Football League teams called the Super Bowl. According to Sociology of Sports Module” by Wadsworth this event is watched by people, who don’t normally even watch football, but parties are set up and this event can even become a family ritual (7). When this event is televised the major networks compete to be able to air it on their station. Companies compete and pay large amounts of money to commercial their products. The majority of viewers are average people with average incomes that are far separated from the cash flow of the Super Bowl.
There are many different automobile companies providing buyers with many styles of cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles. Toronto Star January 14, 2005 present ways to approach the automotive buying process. There are many different surveys, crash reports, and rating systems comparing different companies and their vehicles. Things you should look for when reading these published articles are who conducted the study? Who paid for it? Who gains from it? Who loses? These are all things to keep eye on as some automotive companies will run their own surveys making their products seem overpowering against the competition. Some prove their products are safer then the competition where the competition has been proven time and time again to make that survey seem inaccurate.
