Thesis: Most students enjoy summer vacation, but some educators feel that summer break is too long and the students do not retain information as easily when they return in the fall. I personally disagree with summer vacation to be shortened.
Some educators think that summer vacation is too long. Students would not want summer break to be shortened because we go to school 180 days and five days out of a week. The school year is longer than our summer break. The summer break is a student's break from school and more time to get to go places and do things. These are the reasons that I disagree with shortening summer breaks. Me as a student would not want my summer shortened. The school year is 180 days and five days out of a week. To me this is long enough to be educated and prepared for the end of year tests and the next year. Most educators think that we should have school year round. Which would be a whole

The school year is usually 180 days. Personally, me as a student think that we should get 180 days of summer break. The summer break should last as long as the school year is. They should both be the same amount of days. Most students would want more time to go and do things with their family. The majority of students go on vacations and go see out of state family that they have. The time that they have for summer vacation is sometimes not long enough. The summer vacation flies by quicker than than the school year. This is my third reason with disagreeing with the summer being shortened. These are all of the reasons why I disagree with shortening summer breaks. The educators think that school should be year round and it shouldn't because summer can be a stress reliever for some students. Most students enjoy spending time with family out of state. Some students enjoy going on trips and vacations. These are all or the reasons why I disagree with summer being shortened, and having school all year
Another significant reason is summer vacation needs to be longer. The primary reason for this is children need time to wind down and relax before they have to go back to school. For instance, during the summer children relax and prepare for school, if they...
In the United States, most schools still use a ten-month calendar that was developed when our country’s students needed school off to help with harvesting (Palmer). Trimble Local Schools Superintendent Kim Jones says, “year-round schooling is the notion of getting away from the old agrarian calendar...which was formed up around the planting season. Students were out of school from April until harvest to work in the fields,” (qtd. in Hapka). Under the agrarian system, most United States students are in school for nine to ten months, and get a two- to three- month summer vacation. However, the United States is no longer an agricultural-based society, and students have no need to take a three-month-long, unnecessary, not to mention disruptive break during the summer months; instead, the United States should switch the school systems to a year-round calendar.
It’s fall everyone and Halloween is coming.I would like to tell you that fall is the best season of all.

As any school-aged child can tell you: spring break is almost here! As any parent of a school-aged child knows: planning a spring break with the kids can be hard! Before deciding on specific things to do in Canton, TX, consider a few ideas to help your family prioritize and make the most out of your spring break time together.
For years, parents and educators have debated the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional school calendar, which has long summer vacations for all students. The longer you are away from school, the more you lose what you learned in the previous year. Studies have shown that children who know English as a second language benefit the most from year-round education because during the long summer break, they may not hear English for several months. Long summer breaks is a problem for traditional schools and the solution is to substitute traditional schools for year-round schools.
Summer is a time where people have gatherings, goof around, take vacations and spend time with their family. Many students are used to having two week winter break, one week spring break, and three months of summer break. Changing this traditional format could lead to negative effects for many students, educators, and families. A balanced school year would not have enough benefits to change schedule.
The summer vacation students on a traditional schedule receive could be very beneficial since summer gives time for the students to attend camps or other activities that would allow them to learn. The camp may not be like the learning in school, but students would be able to get a different style of education while having fun. Lynn-nore Chittom and Jeff Klassen, two authors who wrote about year-round vs. traditional schooling say,
The first reason for the traditional school year, the students should have a break time and they will spend time for the family traditional vacation. For summer breaks no longer term of YRE, the students will have three to four weeks shorter breaks then back to school. They attend school for more than 180 days calendars. For example, the students feel all the stress about heavily homework, test, studying, and quiz, but they need a break. In fact, summer vacation is a family tradition. YRE should give an opportunity for health and social education. In addition, the most United State school kids have lost their summer break in 2.5 million as their school districts options of YRE (“Year-Rou...
What do you think about going to school year round with little breaks here and there, but not your traditional three month summer break? Year round schooling has been a decision argued with the government, teachers, principals and parents. Many kids and adults like to relax on their three month break. Many students are used to having two week winter break, one week spring break, and three months of summer break. Overall, one three month break would benefit than having three-week breaks broken up throughout the school year.
When did most of your best childhood memories occur? Probably during summer break! Now think if those memories had not happened to you because of school. Some schools now are going off of the traditional break schedule and are turning over to year round schooling. Students need time to rest, students need time for other activities and kids need time to spend with their family.. Schools should keep a traditional school calendar for many reasons.
Summer Slide, Slides Away There are many different views on the topic of whether or not schools should go to a year-round calendar or not. If you have not heard about year-round schooling, the plan is to have students go to school for a certain length of time and then have a couple of weeks off of school. Some of the plans that schools can choose from are the 45-15 plan, the 60-20 plan, or the 90- 30 plan [Schools]. This means that for every 45 days of school that students attend they get 15 days off, 60 days of school they get 20 days off, and with every 90 days of school students get 30 days off.
Imagine going to school and not having a summer break. Year-round schooling allows students to go to school from six to nine weeks in a row followed by a two-to-four- week vacation. This way of schooling has been a controversial topic among parents and teachers worldwide. Schools should not have year-round schooling and should continue with the traditional schooling because of the absence of summer break, there is no academic benefit, and it is an inconvenience.
However, i disagree i think that summer break for students should not be longer. Cause if summer breaks are longer than the students can forget about the stuff that they learned in school before their summer break. So there for summer break should be shorter. Cause if they are shorter than students wouldn't forget about the stuff they have learned and when the students go back to school they will remember what they did before summer break. If the students remembered what they did before summer break than teachers wouldn't have to teach the students much cause they would already know what to
Should the school year be is a topic that has been under discussion for many years. Many believe that the school year is just fine while others may argue that it should be extended. Getting an education has become more demanding and there is also more information that students are to learn before entering the real world of college and life beyond. There are also many days that students have off such as holidays, breaks, and snow days.
