The Titan’s Curse is the third novel in Rick Riordan ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ series. Considered to be a fantasy adventure book written for young teens, it was nominated for several prestigious awards. Action packed with a plot based on Greek Mythology, this book has similar characteristics to the famous Harry Potter, The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia series.
It follows the story of Percy Jackson, a half mortal and half Greek god due to his father, Poseidon, being the god of the sea and his mother a mere mortal. Already travelled on various quests to rescue other demi-gods, Percy spent his summers at Camp Half-Blood, where he met Thalia, Annabeth and Grover, who become his best friends and accompanied him on every mission.

The Titan’s Curse, which is set 6 months after the ‘Sea of Monsters’ adventure, Percy once again finds himself on a mission when Annabeth is captured and used as bait to lure the goddess Artemis by the Titan Lord, Kronos. Fallen prey to his treacherous trap, the Titans fight to take back their world that was taken from the Olympian Gods. In amidst of the mess, an ancient monster has also arisen, rumoured to able to bring down Olympus, but Artemis, the only God who can track it is missing. Together, the demigods face their utmost challenge: battling against Kronos wrath and striving to end the mystery of the monster.
As with all the books in this series, the novel lives up to the quality of adventure and storyline as seen with the first two books. The characters are complex, diverse and most importantly, growing and evolving. Riordan has the ability to enchant you, making you feel like you are in the action, sensing every suspense and thrill the novel has to offer. Written is Percy’s humorous tone, the book not only fills you with excitement but compels you to want and read the rest of the series. It is truly a book worthwhile reading!
