The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain has many amazing elements within its story but, these elements were not the first time it was used. Many other stories has used these elements before. Old stories like Robin Hood, Prometheus, and Cinderella are only some of the stories in which they used the elements before. Modern fiction is extremely similar to older works such as myths, traditional stories, and religious works based as characterization, theme, and plot.
One element that is in The Adventure of Tom Sawyer and Robin Hood is characterization. Tom Sawyer always broke rules and went out whenever he felt like he wanted to no matter what the risk was. In fact, Tom Sawyer even played a game and played as Robin Hood. “Huckleberry Finn was

there, with his dead cat. The boys moved off and disappeared in the gloom. At the end of half an hour they were wading through the tall grass of the graveyard.” (58-59). Tom went out to the graveyard with Huckleberry Finn and did not seem to care what the risk was. Even after he was told not to go outside after dark, he still left home. Robin Hood was always adventurous. He always went to the enemies and teased them without caring about the risk of being caught and killed. He always went outside and barely stayed inside and hid.“Robin loved the forest. He loved the sights and scents, and the sounds and deep silences of it. He felt as if it were a tender mother who opened her wide arms to him. Soon it comforted him, and at last the tears came hot and fast, and sobs shook him as he lay on the grass. The bitterness and anger had all melted out of his heart; only sorrow was left.” (15-16). Robin Hood loved staying outside and finding new adventures. Characterization is a major part in writing a book, some books may have the same type of characterization, like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Robin Hood. An element that is in both The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Prometheus is theme. The theme in both of these stories is friendship. Tom Sawyer made many new friends in his novel, such as Huckleberry Finn. “‘Oh, right off. We’ll get the boys together and have the initiation tonight, maybe.’” (212). At the end of the novel, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and rest of their friends decide that they want to start a gang and be robbers. They do and is later shown in the next book. Prometheus also shows a value of friendship. "’I have let you live, Prometheus,’ said Zeus in an ominous tone, ‘to advise me when you can. You are my cousin. But I am not your child to be scolded.’ Zeus was smiling, but there was thunder behind the smile.’” (2). Prometheus gets punished by Zeus but not in a mean, horrible way. Zeus punished Prometheus in a friendly way and somewhat explaining why things have to be like this in a friendly matter. Theme is also another major part in writing a novel, it is well shown in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Prometheus as they do have the same theme. An element both in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Cinderella is plot.
At the end of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Tom Sawyer becomes a hero from saving someone and helping the whole town. “So endeth this chronicle. It being strictly a history of a boy, it must stop here; the story could not go much further without becoming the history of a man. When one writes a novel about grown people, he knows exactly where to stop — that is, with a marriage; but when he writes of juveniles, he must stop where he best can. Most of the characters that perform in this book still live, and are prosperous and happy. Some day it may seem worthwhile to take up the story of the younger ones again and see what sort of men and women they turned out to be; therefore it will be wisest not to reveal any of that part of their lives at present.” (212). Tom Sawyer becomes a man and does this by saving the town, showing what is right, and becoming mature. Cinderella has to go to the ball and stop her stepsisters from making her their slave. “First she washed her face and hands quite clean, and went in and curtseyed to the Prince, who held out to her the golden shoe. Then she sat down on a stool drew her foot out of the heavy wooden shoe, and slipped it into the golden one, which fitted it perfectly. And when she stood up, and the Prince looked in her face, he knew again the beautiful maiden that had danced with him, and he cried, ‘This is the right bride!’” (6). Cinderella had to find a way to get to the prince in time and put on the golden shoe. When she does, she lives with the prince and proves everyone that her stepsisters are horrible people. Plot is also a major part in writing a novel. Some novels has similar plots, like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and
Cinderella. Modern fiction can be similar to older stories based on elements and other major parts in books. These elements can also function us and how we act, making us not seems so new after all.
Not many people may support the idea that The Great Gatsby and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn are novels sharing any similar literary elements; however, both have many of the same themes, like morality, society and class, lies and deceit, and education; they both have common archetypes like water, darkness, and innate wisdom versus educated stupidity; the community in one novel parallels the other (Huckleberry Finn versus Nick Carraway, Tom Sawyer versus Jay Gatsby, 1830s American society versus Tom Buchanan); and both settings are accurate in depicting the real environment and time period the characters would have lived in, thanks to the authors writing their novels based on the location and time in which they had actually resided.
Tom Sawyer, a mischievous, brave, and daring boy that goes through adventures in love, murder, and treasure. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain is about a boy maturing from a whimsical troublemaker into a caring young man. In the "conclusion" Mark Twain writes, "It being strictly a history of a boy, it must stop here; the story could not go much farther without becoming a history of a man" Tom is now maturing throughout a span of adventures in love, treasure, and everyday life that make him more of an adult, then a boy.
In Mark Twain?s novel, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the main character, Tom, is best friends with Huck. Tom and Huck seem very similar. But of course, everyone has their differences. They both have many freedoms and experiences, which differ. Their friendship means different things to each kid. There is also the factor of experience and intelligence. The boys are similar and different in many ways, but I think that it does not effect their friendship.
“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became man, I put my childish ways behind me (NIC: 1Corinthians 13:11) In the life of every individual, there are various events and stages, such as death, crime, overcoming fear and undergoing moral growth, which transform immature individuals into serious and mature people. In Mark Twain’s novels, The Adventure of Tom Sawyer and The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn, one sees this transformation and growth in the two main characters by facing conflicts and events, these being Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn In beginning of the novel The Adventure of Tom Sawyer, one sees Tom as a crafty, intelligent, and imaginative boy with excellent theatrical skills.
I will compare to Tom Sawyer with me because like I are adventurous likes problems and rebellious as it is very smart to convince people, he was born near a river I was born near a beach he grew up with his I grew up with my aunt two popes till the two were separated and lived some time with my grandmother, I had a lot of small adventures like tom also had problems, remember the time tom and Huck were looking for a treasure in a house haunted too but I did not found a treasure we found a gentleman who ran us to and many things to explain that tom and I are similar but not identical and not been too bad and always been good and had no problems but since they parted my parents started
"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain tells the story of Tom, an imaginative and troublesome young boy who never passes up a chance for an adventure. The story takes place in the mid-nineteenth century in St. Petersburg, Missouri. The novel has several themes which include love, imagination, rebellion and superstition.
Mark Twain created a character that is completely unaware his narration is ironic at every turn. Huckleberry Finn, in the novel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn may not realize it, but much of what he says can be perceived as ridicule. This tale is the journey of a young boy growing up and finding his place in society, after leaving his drunk of a father behind. Much of his trip is spent floating down the Mississippi River on a raft with Jim, an African American man seeking freedom, and in a way, they both find it. Mark Twain, the author of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, mocks religion and superstitious beliefs, the educational maturity of Tom Sawyer 's gang of robbers, and slavery through irony and satire in his writing.

Tom Sawyer is the main character in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Tom is a very adventurous young man. Huck Finn is drawn from life; Tom Sawyer also, but not from an individual -- he is a combination of the characteristics of three boys whom I knew, and therefore belongs to the composite order of architecture (Twain 1). Throughout the book, Tom takes his friends on adventures that get them in a lot of trouble. Tom’s friends include Huckleberry Finn, Huck’s friend Joe Harper, and his romantic interest Becky Thatcher. Tom lives in St. Petersburg, Missouri that is located along the Mississippi river. He lives with his Aunt Polly (Sandock). Tom’s half-brother Sid, Cousin Mary, and Jim also live with him. Tom's younger brother (or rather half-brother) Sid was already through with his part of the work (picking up chips), for he was a quiet boy, and had no adventurous, troublesome ways (Twain 3). Jim is Aunt Polly’s young slave. Tom’s father is never mentioned in the book. No one knows anything about Tom’s father. Aunt Polly’s deceased sister is Tom and Sid’s mother. Tom is always trying to impress his girlfriend Becky. Tom eventually persuades Becky to be engaged at a young age (Gussow). Sometime after Becky learns that Tom had already been engaged before, h...

Tom's shenanigans, in fact, often bring delight and even unpredictable insight into a situation, with the boys' interactions as a gang often satirically mirroring the behaviors of adults in society. Tom's rebellion earns him the admiration of the other boys in town, who misbehave to lesser degrees. Huckleberry Finn is the only boy who is wilder than Tom. With the village drunkard as his single parent, Huck lives an unsupervised life that is every other boy's dream: he never goes to school or church, he smokes, he wears whatever he wants, and he sleeps outdoors each night. Rebellion is a way for boys to bond, to the exclusion of a few well-behaved boys, such as Sid, and girls, who are more reserved than boys.
One example of adventure is that where Tom, Huck, and Joe go out live by themselves and freedom on Jackson’s Island. Tom, Huck, and Joe hate being told
Particular events in novels can tell us about a person’s character. For example, in the book The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer, at the beginning of the book, Tom got in trouble and his punishment was that he needed to whitewash his aunt’s fence. Tom tricked his friends into whitewashing the fence for him. This showed right off, that Tom doesn’t like to work and would rather be like any other little boy, and runoff to play. Another event from Tom Sawyer, backing up the impression that you received earlier, at the beginning of the book, would be when Tom and Huckleberry Finn snuck off. They floated down the river on a raft. This proved that Tom would much rather go off on and adventures and be with his friends. Looking back at these two experiences,
Tom Sawyer is the leading character of the adventure of Tom Sawyer, a mischief, imaginative yet clever boy who lives with his Aunt Polly in St. Petersburg. He is zeal for adventure and always dreaming to live a life of a pirate. The first adventure takes place accidentally when Tom and Huckleberry Finn, the lazy and free son of the town drunk, sneak to the graveyard at night. There they witness a murder by Injun Joe, who trickily makes Muff Potter his scapegoat. Extremely scared, the boys run away and vow not to tell the murder. When Tom, Huck and Joe Harper run away to an island to be pirates, the second adventure begins. Back in town, Tom rejoices with his lover Becky Thatcher, who breaks with Tom before he adventures to the island, by taking class punishment for her. Later, Muff Potter is accused of murder yet Tom stands out and tells the truth out of conscience. Thus, he becomes the hero of the town but Injun Joe flees.
