Football is a rough, contact sport that may cause lifelong injuries. So, the question is, should parents let their kids play the sport? I believe they should. Letting kids play football will allow them to become physically fit and healthy. It will also keep them busy and out of trouble, and help them gain discipline and develop new skills. I believe letting children play football is the right thing to do and will help them physically and mentally. We live in a world where a lot of children are lazy and inactive (usafootball.com, 2015). Also where 1 in 3 children are considered overweight and/or obese (kidshealth.org, 2016). Children need to be active and playing something at least 60 min a day. Tackle and/or flag football are great ways …show more content…
Since 2014, these rates have dropped 65% and it then became 3000 and not 8000 children (ojjdp.gov, 2014). I believe these rates would drop even more if parents let their children played football. These crimes were more than likely committed after school or on the weekend. If parents were to let their children play football, it will keep their children busy at practice and games, and not out somewhere else committing crimes. If you think about it, school starts around 7:30 to 8:30, and lasts about 7 to 8 hours, which means that children return home at about 2:30 to 3:30. Football practices usually start at about 5 to 5:30 and last about 1 ½ hours to 2 ½ hours, which means that they return home at 6:30 to 8:00. Therefore, they don’t have as much time after school because they have to do homework, chores, and then get ready for football practice which takes up a lot of time. So then, when they could be out with friends, or playing video games, they will be working hard and learning at football practice. If parents would just let their children play football, these rates will certainly drop down. Furthermore, these children will be gaining discipline and learning new
Team sports like football teach dedication , teamwork, and all teams focus keeping up grades. These are all incredibly important for kids to know and learn about That's why i would definitely allow my son to play in football or any other contact sport. One big problem i've seen around is that kids don't normally stick to one thing for long, but kids that decide to join sports teams and have an opportunity to enjoy the game will surely stick to the game. The are also more likely to not only want to play the game but also they would want to make friends on the team and spent a large majority of their time ether practicing or with members of their team. A dedication to a team will make these kids want to succeed and do whatever to stay on the team and continue to play.
In the article “Should Kids Play Football” from the Scholastic Scope on February 2015, writer Jennifer Shotz discusses both issues of the benefits and dangers of playing American football. For example, Jennifer Shots mentioned that tens of thousands of young football players get concussions every year. She states that most players return to the game after they are healed but some never return because their concussion was too severe to their health. On the other hand, the writer also discusses how football isn't the only sport that encounters concussions. The rules of football are always changing and each new rule provides a safer way to play the game. For example, the writer notes that Pop Warner has reduced the amount of practice time dedicated
“Maybe I´m stupid or whatever, but to me if I got a concussion, if I could see straight and carry a football, then I´m not telling anybody”, Ricky Williams, NFL Football player. The argument about whether kids should play football or not is an important topic to argue. People need to understand that the concussions and other injuries are more serious with young kids. The problem is that many people think that it could be stopped by not allowing kids to play at all. Although parents can reduce risk of injury by not allowing their kids to play football, parents should let their children play football because it lets kids follow their dreams, it helps kids become more mature and independant, and if kids use proper technique they can reduce injuries.
Football, just another method to throw life away. Football is an extremely unsafe sport, yet it is glorified by several in the United States. A plethora of football players are impacted negatively by injuries that may occur just by playing an "innocent" little game of tackle football. It is necessary to consider all the dreadful outcomes that may happen before taking the chance to play. Young individuals shouldn't play tackle football due to the trauma it can cause to the brain, the injuries or occurrences that can lead to a harder life or even death, and it leaves the players to be less sharp in their old age. It is often thought that football is a harmless game for kids to enjoy. Nevertheless, the amount of health issues and injuries that can be caused by football is unbelievable and not worth the risk.
One of the biggest controversial topics going on today is should children still be aloud to play football, knowing what we know about serious injuries? The article that I chose ( “Don’t Let Kids play football”) is about the consequences that could occur playing such a contact sport. The debate is that some people believe that football teaches important life lessons and others believe that it can cause serious life changing injuries.
-Kids may love football, but they may not want to play when they get older.Football can build up confidence.A boy may love to sing but is shy football can bring out that shyness.Kids are to relaxed these days, they are
Football is possibly too dangerous of a game for young boys and girls to be playing. I am not talking about all forms of football, but more specifically tackle football. Yes, football may possibly be one of America’s loved sport because of the brutality that it consists of; although I believe that there should be an age where kids should start playing such a horrific game. At the age of ten young boys, and girls, should be worrying about who they are going to be playing with outside at recess. Kids should not have to be worried about their friends having to miss school because of a concussion, or worse him or herself.
Every sport has its tricks and ways of doing things the right way. You can assure anyone that the sport their child is playing is safe, because there is always a stronger, bigger, faster player than them. Personally, I believe football is a demanding sport that requires a lot of strength, and stamina. If you read the article “Hard Knocks” by Alan Schwarz, it gives a brief story about a young football player. “The autopsy showed that his brain was in the early stage of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, more commonly known as C.T.E.” Many football players die from this condition.
In fact it is more likely than not that player will get injured playing sports. Players suffer sprained ankles, bruises, broken bones and concussions. It is part of the game, an unfortunate likelihood. Sports in itself is dangerous and football is amongst the top of the list in terms of danger. It is up to the parents to decide whether or not it is a risk that they are willing to take. Does a boy channel the passion he inherited from his father to a different type of sport or activity? Does a parent pull their child form the sport because of the fear of injury? The fact remains that football needs changes to make it
Football is not too dangerous for children to play because the coaches are taking a lot of precautions to keep children safe.
Lastly , in my opinion , I think kids should't play football because it's too dangerous and risky for them to hurt themselves. Now , football may provide good factors for kids to play the game such as the discipline it gives them to grow as a mature young man and the physical activity it provides them to stay in shape and move around , but it does not beat the fact that kids can develop life threatening injuries from playing football. Today's kids are our future and we need to be more worried for their
Football makes families and friends more ambitious. Lastly, when kids play football with their brothers and sisters they are determined to fight for the gold, and win that game.
Some athletes make football their first priority rather than school; this gives them a disadvantage later in life. Every year, only a few players make it to the NFL (National Football League). The answer is clear; kids should not be allowed to play football.
The ages of the above players are between sixteen to eighteen years old. How would this scenario work if the children playing on the Western Hill and Aledo Football teams were three to eight years old, and not sixteen to eighteen years old? Let’s review the pros of children taking part in organized sports: physical activity, socialization, health competition, self-esteem, and discipline. With every action there is an equal reaction also known as the Cons of children taking part in organized sports: which are injuries, cost, stress, and lost family time together. Some of the benefits of playing outdoor sports, are stated by Adnan Samia in an article entitled “Benefits of Sports.”
This game requires immense amounts of exercise and cardiovascular activity. In an article on Youth Football Online.com it states, “Football is a physically demanding sport that will have the kids exercising every practice and game.” Football is filled with physical activity from running sprints, to lifting weights, to just simply playing the game. It is one of the best sports to get physically fit from. I feel myself working the hardest I ever have when I’m on the field. You endure multitudes of different types of training during football making it great for your health. Compared to other sports, it by far requires the most work all
