The important message in this book is “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it’s yours. If it doesn’t, it was never meant to be yours.” This is the theme because in the first book Adam was fighting for Mia to come back and wake up from her coma. Though he made a promise that if she comes back he will let her go by leave her. In Where She Went, Adam did move on from Mia, partly. Moving on from Mia was Adam way of letting her go, but she came back. Three years being apart, gave enough time for Mia to realized what she wanted.
