The novel “Divergent” by the author Veronica Roth is a 1st person point of view, she tells the story of Beatrice Prior a 16 year old that has a choice between five factions the world she lives in is divided. This factions are: Erudite, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity and Candor. On initiation day she chooses the dauntless faction over her born faction, Abnegation. This portrays an example of one of the decisions she makes throughout the book. The act of doing the correct decision for herself and not for others. The fear of her choice. Beatrice doesn’t see herself as a selfless but as brave, and shows it by being the first jumper and protecting Al. What goal did this society received by dividing their people into factions? The answer
to that question; a solution our world is based on solutions. Some solutions are better than others. But that is what society in real life has come to be about people are always coming up with the best solution for everybody’s and their own problems. The people in charge of this solutions are not the best and when you don’t have the best people you don’t have the best solutions and end up having the same problem over and over until finding the perfect solution. The perfect solution which may never be found is the one everybody is looking for and the one that this society aspires to. Erudite the knowledgeable, Amity the kind, Candor the honest, Abnegation the selfless, and Dauntless the brave. This are the five faction the society of Divergent is divided in. But why select only this five qualities among the other millions of qualities that a human being can achieve, because these are the ones we most aspire to. Everybody in this society that we live in wants to be one of these five characteristics and I think author Veronica Roth saw that and knew why to divide the factions that way. By being the society the future society wants and showing them what could really be like it’s a glimpse into the future. The future of upcoming societies to be.

She feels that as long as she can hold on to some part of the family, she will see to it that they keep on going.

In the book Insurgent by Veronica Roth, setting is one of the most important and influential aspects of the story. The setting of a book or story is one of the most important things to the reader as it allows them to imagine the environment surrounding the characters. It creates a tone and an attitude which change the way the reader feels as they continue further into the writing. Roth is able to use the setting of Insurgent as a parallel to the book’s plot and her character’s emotions which helps the reader relate to them. The setting foreshadows most of the plot and helps to develop the characters/factions through small amounts of symbolism.
She makes her appearance in the beginning of the novel by making an impression as rank obsessed .Her attachment with the family brings up the question whether she is with them because of their rank or because she genuinely enjoys their company and her favoring Anne. Her first statement of her judgment being blind by knowing someone’s rank makes her an unreliable character to know her intentions.

She wanted no bad deed to go unpunished and what she seen fit was for Benedick to challenge Claudio to a dule and she didn’t want Benedick to stop until he was dead.
She wrote this novel to inform readers that there are differences and similarities between the genders of male and female and how each of their minds work. She says, In other words, when we are not thinking of ourselves as “male” or “female” our judgements are the same. This quote directly shows us that she is trying to tell us what life is like with each gender.
The story Divergent takes place in a future version of Chicago. In this futuristic city there are five distinct factions. Each faction has a different characteristic by which they follow. They all have a different opinion on which is best, but, the Dauntless believe bravery is the best, the Erudite think knowledge is the key to success, Abnegation is a bit out there and believes being pro-self-sacrifice is the way to go, the Amity loves friendship, and the Candor are the realists of this crazy place. The main character of this story is Beatrice Prior, she grew up in an abnegation family, but when she turned 16 she decided to join the Dauntless. She made this choice, because, she thought they were “cool” they have tattoos, piercings, and leather jackets. Beatrice also didn’t really fit in with the Abnegation, she was Divergent.

Beatrice is this average height, skinny, sixteen year old, white girl. Throughout the book, it is shown that she is strong willed and doesn’t like to show weakness. Contrary to being born into the Abnegation Faction, she always had some selfishness inside her, which caused her to constantly be scolded by her older brother. She was born to Natalie and Andrew Prior, and she has an older brother named Caleb, whose shadow she always stood in, because of his acts of selflessness. The Abnegation Faction focuses on the virtue of selflessness, and they live to help/serve others, such as the “Factionless”. They reject the life of vanity and greed. One of their rules is to not look in mirrors when passing one. Beatrice had always liked the thought of these values, but never could use them herself.

Shakespeare makes sure that Beatrice comes off as a woman who is not afraid to speak her mind to anyone.
