Adnan is Wrongfully Convicted. 975 people each year get wrongfully convicted of crimes they didn't commit. Of that 975, 195 of them are forced to face the death penalty. The podcast “Serial” by Sarah Koenig brings us along to the case of Hae Min Lee, with the two suspects, Adnan Syed and Jay Wild. Adnan was wrongfully convicted. Though some people might want to argue that he had motives to kill his girlfriend, after listening to the podcast and what goes down with this case, you can see that Adnan is innocent and did not have the motive to kill Hae. The lack of evidence and facts, the trial only following Jay's testimonies, and the unreliable cell phone records prove the innocence of Adnan Syed. Following this article, Lying by Omission says, “Leaving out details to intentionally misrepresent the truth is known as lying by omission.” (CITATIONS). Jay's story that “proves” Adnan is guilty changes every single time. How can you believe and trust someone who lies to your face over and over? Though I do believe Jay isn't the murderer, I do believe he is hiding something because of this. If both Adnan and Jay were treated the same, then Jay should have been sent to jail for even being involved in the murder in the first place. When looking at evidence, many refer back to the cell phone records to try to use that against Adnan. One thing people are unaware of is the fact that cell phone records are unreliable. In an article, the Irish Times clearly says that “AT&T cell phone records used to place Syed at the site where Lee’s body was buried are flawed.” (CITATION). Again, using unreliable information to make an opinion. AT&T records stated that “Syed’s phone “Pinged'' at the cell phone tower covering the park and nearby areas during calls he received at 7:09 pm and 7:16 pm on 13 January 1999.”
