Never let me go: PG. 0
I had originally planned to read a novel titled The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, but I found myself struggling to become invested in the novel. Due to this I have decided to change my novel to Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Isiguro. This fictional novel is only 222 pages long, though I intend to watch the accompanying movie after completing it. With my understanding of the speed at which I read, I hope to complete this book within a day or two. I plan to write journal entries approximately every 40-50 pages, which should give me sufficient time to reflect on the events of this book. I was very drawn to this novel by the cover, as I felt that the author used some very compelling imagery, and I am excited to begin this read.

It takes place in an alternate society, and is revolving around Kath, the protagonist, describing the experiences of her childhood to a “donor”-- something that has yet to be defined. I found myself becoming frustrated with the novel at first, as there is a lot of jargon that has been used without any explanation. I found it difficult to connect to the first few chapters due to not understanding a majority of what was being described, though slowly things are being explained and I am now able to begin relating to this novel. I believe that the following chapters of this novel will be answering the questions that have already been laid out, though this curiosity is also driving my desire to continue on with the reading. Two other significant characters have been mentioned, Ruth and Tommy, though not much information has been given about them yet. Overall, I am enjoying the novel so far and am curious as to how the author will …show more content…
At first I was frustrated by being unsure about a vast amount of the content, but I have come to realize that this was likely intentional. The protagonist has been describing her journey through the boarding school where she was unsure of what lay afterwards, and she was kept ignorant of many things during this time. The author has written this book in a manner that explains things as the protagonist had learned about them, which makes it easy to relate to the characters as I can understand their frustration, as well as their curiosity. It has been described that the students of the school will be unable to have children, and that they have been born specifically to donate their organs. Based on this I am assuming that a “donor” is one who has recently begun donating their organs, and that a “carer” is one who cares for donors afterwards, similar to a doctor. I am beginning to theorize about this novel, wondering if the human race is attempting to lengthen their lifespan by using organs from younger people. However, I am already a third through the novel, and I feel as though not much has happened, which is causing me some concern. The plot in this book is quite interesting, but it seems as though the author is struggling to retain my
I found this book to be a rather interesting read. I enjoyed how Levathes researched this book and wrote it to try to explain about this specific period of time and how it is very non-fiction.
I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. Several scenes pleasantly caught me off guard and some were extremely hilarious, namely, the visit to Martha Oldcrow. I found myself really fond of the char...
There are several things that I like about this book. First off, I love historical fiction, and this is the genre of this book. Also, despite the author being too descriptive, the book went at a steady pace. For me, pace usually determines whether I will read the book or not, and I never really hesitated, or thought about changing books.
I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys historical fiction books where the characters learn life-altering lessons. I also feel that people of all ages would enjoy this book because it’s messages and theme was very positive. While I did enjoy this book, I think I will not be reading another historical fiction novel for my upcoming book response.
I believe this novel has somewhat of a relevance for modern readers in today’s society.
My overall opinion of this book is good I really liked it and recommend it to anyone. It is a good book to read and it keep you interested throughout the whole book.
This is my personal reflection about this book. First and foremost, I would like to say that this book is very thick and long to read. There are about nineteen chapters and 278 pages altogether. As a slow reader, it is a quite hard for me to finish reading it within time. It took me weeks to finish reading it as a whole. Furthermore, it is written in English version. My English is just in average so sometimes I need to refer to dictionary for certain words. Sometimes I use google translate and ask my friends to explain the meaning of certain terms.
have chosen it for my report. Finally, I will give my reactions to the novel
The tone of this novel is very moving. It is also bleak to those that do not like the idea of a racially divided
“In my estimation a good book first must contain little or no trace of the author unless the author himself is a character. That is, when I read the book I should not feel that someone is telling me the story but t...
This is an odd little book, but a very important one nonetheless. The story it tells is something like an extended parablethe style is plain, the characters are nearly stick figures, the story itself is contrived. And yet ... and yet, the story is powerful, distressing, even heartbreaking because the historical trend it describes is powerful, distressing, even heartbreaking.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and believe it to be one of the best books I have ever read. It was extremely well written and challenging for me to understand at times. It conveys that dark side of human ambition very well, and it has given me much to think about.
The novel was a bit boring and the rhythm was somewhat so, but overall it was an ok book. All of her novels portray the same theme about her liberal views and why social reform is needed in England. I’m a little tired of her tyrant.
The novel progresses at rapid rate and the irregular pace can be likened to that of a drug addiction novel. As if the author himself in select chapters in the book has decided to 'shoot up on smack' before typing away on his keyboard. The other way the n...
The Climax interesting, it has good moral of being open with others, and the plot is unique. The book has a lot of suspense to it. Furthermore, it is a hard to put down once you start. If you're looking for a light, happy, feel-good, novel to read to pass leisure time I would recommend picking this one up.
