The article entitled “Love Comes Driving Up the Road, and in Middle Age, Too”, written by Janet Maslin, showed us how remarkable the movie “The bridge of Madison County” was. The author believed that the movie was better than the original book. The author thought that the movie was directed even better. She illustrated her opinion from the following main perspectives. First of all, the pace of this movie was distinguished from normal American movies whose plots are usually compact. The story was developed so unhurriedly and quietly that every subtle plots of the movie, such as complex emotion change and conversation, were enlarged clearly. Secondly, the fantastic performance of both two main characters enhanced the beauty of this romantic …show more content…
In the ending of the movie, Francesca responded to Robert that “No matter how much distance we put between us and this house, I carry it with me”. I think what she really supposed to carry if she left is the responsibility of family and the guilty of leaving. No one can escape from the torture of ethic, including Francesca. She knows that pursuing her own happiness was selfish which will definitely ruin her kids’ and husband’s life, and they should not suffer talks and being abandoned. She was so considerate and mercy. She sighed that “In one way her life begins, but in another way it stops. You build a life of details, you just stop and stay steady so that your children can move. And when they leave, they take your life of details with them”. In Janet’s article, Francesca was described as a wife whose passionate nature has long been dormant. We can also see in the movie that Francesca lived aimlessly after kids and husband leaving as well as taking away her life of details. Doing housework and farm work seemed to be the only two things she could do, which explained why she led the way for an unfamiliar man herself even though it was unnecessary to do that. But for the coming of Robert, Francesca awakened from lifeless trivial affairs and gained four unforgettable days during which she totally indulged her passion regardless of ethic. However, eventually, she realized what really meant important to her as roles of a mother and a wife was caring for the family but not personal enjoyment. Basically, I initially hated Francesca’s disloyal behavior toward her family, like her son’s initial response. I believe that a married woman is absolutely not allowed to do such thing that against family ethic. Nevertheless, the affection ended up with separate which unexpectedly made me feel sorry. I did not change my attitude toward family ethic
...atters of their relationship. While her husband was away, she took on an authoritative role within her husbands business affairs while he was absent. Having access to male clients, helped her in deciding what needed to be done and delivered. It started to play out as a partnership, in which they each had their own individual roles in terms of livelihood. They began to overlap within their affairs, where they would have not been successful in their trade without each other in order to attain a successful business and home. Magdalena was trusted with all that was included within their business matters.
Along with Leah isolating herself from the outdoors, she starts isolating herself from her family. Leah always thinks the worst of situations ???. Jack wanted her to move in with him and his family. He didn’t want her living alone. Other than the fact that Lead hated Ruth, Leah thought that the only reason they wanted her to move in was because of her pension. ** dropped quote! You do not understand incorporating quotes- see me**“Why do I stay with them?’ She asked herself the question for the thousandth time and for the thousandth time replied with the automatic answer,’Because they need my pension.” (111) Leah questions why Jack and Ruth want her to move in with them. She repeats, thousands of times how her pension is the only reason as to why they would want that. Leah continuously lies to her kids about little, irrelevant things. In doing so, it creates space between them; the truth being the space. Leah tells them that they will go places, do things, get things when, in reality, she knows none of it is true. “She’d even lie to the children, ‘The winter’s almost over now, things are always easier in the summer. Maybe this year we can all go on a little vacation, to a farm maybe, wouldn’t it be nice to go to a farm?” (111) Leah knows that they won’t actually go to the farm on family vacation during the summer. She tells her kids repetitive lies to make her sound better to them. They didn’t have much money, they almost lost their house, so she would tell them things to make it seem like they were well off. When Leah’s husband dies she becomes isolated. She changes and doesn’t recognize herself
One must take careful consideration before acting because the aftermath can lead to a chain of events whose consequences can be disastrous. Nino Ricci’s Lives of the Saints is an excellent example of how the consequences of a persons actions can affect everyone around them, including themselves. First, Cristina makes several choices throughout the novel that not only reflect her thoughtlessness, but her inability to see that it affects people beyond herself. The repercussions of Cristina’s actions demonstrates that she does not take notice that her actions are affecting others. Cristina’s value system is distorted as she is not looking at what is best for her child but rather what is feeling good to her right now. Cristina Innocente is a selfish,
was dramatic but it never went too far and became sappy and overdone. This film
In one particular scene, director was truly a great one, featuring special focus on his dad life and the Colorado River. It was so cool to highlights of the movie by one of his favorite poem written by his dad when he was born, the Important Place. Also, this film was a good length, not excessively long but long enough to tell the story. This is really important today there were no such unwanted scene in the film, which literary the most closely and accurately delivered. In my opinion, this film is forced to possess the characters of a great aspect, and turns to make for quite the adventurous. There was no special character encounter rather than his dad, learned something from the secret Colorado River. Another great aspect of the film was the special footage that were introduce in this film was an enjoyable aspect to be a good documentary film, and that’s how this film is different from the rest.
Florence is unusual in her thought patterns, and with the ability of hindsight, we can safely conclude this. Diaries are personal to the individual, and this account represents only Florence's view, not the average 12 year old girl being brought up in a middle-class background. If you consider source D, a popular magazine is most likely going to represent the view of the average middle-class lady. It refers to the luxury and wealth of the home being, 'more deep, heartfelt and personal interest to us than the public affairs of all the nations in the world'. This is completely the opposite in the case of Florence Nightingale, who snubbed the home and turned to public
This story focuses on the extra-marital affair a housewife named Calixta has while her husband and son are away due to a storm. Although we learn that Calixta has an affair we also know that she doesn’t completely defy the Cult of Domesticity. From the story we get the idea that she remained pure until she married her husband and as Chopin tells us in page 689 “She had not seen him very often since her marriage, and never alone,” this line suggest that even if she saw her past lover around she would not speak to him because neither of them were ever alone and they both didn’t want to disrespect their marriages. In addition Calixta seems to be a very good housewife and mother. She appears to be always tending her home. In page 689 we learn that “[sitting} at a side window sewing furiously on a sewing machine. [Calixta] was greatly occupied and did not notice the approaching storm.” She is so focused on her chores that she didn’t even notice a storm. For Calixta sewing and doing chores around the house is what is normal. She has assumed a role as a married woman and mother and she is fulfilling it. Before the affair you can say that by societies expectations she was a true woman, she kept her virginity until marriage, she makes sure her house chores are done, and she takes care of her family. Even after the affair she acts as if nothing has
...and the prince behind. This movie from afar seems like a different type of romance movie, but more analysis into it and there are noticeable similarities many with other movies.
The portrayal of art cinema is to some extent accurate when considering the time period of this film. Art film was first introduced to the American film industry during the period of time when this film came out. Art cinema utilizes its own set of artistic expression. Hollywood classical films on the other hand, are at odds with the artistic concept, and are considered to be mainstream. When we look at Classical films, we think of the basic Hollywood movie where there is a beginning, middle and end, and the whole movie comes together at the end, with a little bit of romance. In this specific movie, the audience is faced with a confusing dilemma of choosing whether this movie is an art film or a classical film. Most even think it has a documentary approach, but what makes this movie even more successful and even more entertaining, is that it is both art cinema and classical cinema.
...movie that I fell in love with. But most of all I love how the story line is a great overlap into the cinematically engaging movie. There is a great use of camera, timing, shots and story line that are portrayed in this movie without being too overwhelming. This allows the audience to relax during the movie and just take in the scenes as a story from reality. To this day, and even still doing this paper I still come to find different aspects of the movie that I missed the previous times I have watched it.
Due to the film’s quality and interest it became an award winning film. The film had excellent sound effects such as the battle scenes. The image quality was also outstanding; it used many different angles to depict the actor to make you feel involved in the scenes. In the action scenes the most common viewpoint used was a close up shot which allows the audience to see and feel the intensity of the scene. The second viewpoint mostly used was a tracking shot due to the actors c...
She has finally become more understanding and open-minded towards other people’s’ feelings, emotions, and actions. She shows this by reuniting Mrs. Leonardo with her sister that she barely gets to speak with. “’ My sister, you see…’ she pauses emotionally. ’Well, she’s… coming to dinner’” Katie realizes that family is put above all. She’s no longer someone who judges people before she gets to know them. Now, the day is over and as Katie is walking home, she thinks about her father who unfortunately passed away and realizes the importance of being close to family. And I remember the book my dad would read to us when we were little about the baby animals and their parents and how each mother and father kissed their babies goodnight. …but I wouldn’t give it up for anything.“ She acknowledges the fact that family always comes before anything
She soon talked with her friend about marrying Mickey. She did not want to rush into things with him. Her friend tried to tell her Mickey is crazy and cares for her. Even so Francine had some future goals in mind before she even thought about marriage. Francine told her friend she wanted to finish school, get a job, and get out of her town.
Love, love is the core of these movies. It was masterfully manipulated by the directors to create a compelling story. It is conveyed to the viewer in many different ways, through to the costuming, the ways the actors react, lighting and camera angles. Gurinder shows this through lighting and cliché ‘dream’ sequences with the swelling music, the warm orange glow and the camera angles that give the viewer the sense of peeking through a window at the perfect life. On the other hand in Joe’s work, it is more subtle, presented through dialog, the removal of the dull colour tone and the body language of the actors.
I’ve seen a lot of films, and with a lot of different genres. But I don’t think that romantic films are pretty good. They are too boring. The good films are action or comedy films, but the best films are action and com-edy films mixed together. That’s why I’ve chosen the film Taxi 2. It’s a French produced film, with a lot of action and comedy. It’s a pretty new film, and I saw it in the cinema last month. I’ve looked very much forward to see that film, because Taxi was very good too. It took only 5 weeks to get 10 mil-lion Frenchmen into the cinema. Just for watching Taxi 2.
