“Common Sense” is a remarkable piece of literature written by Thomas Paine, published in 1776. It was a call for America to free itself from the British rule. Paine’s writing was used to talk about political as well as moral arguments to convince all of the citizens of the thirteen colonies to push for equal government. This book encourages others to support the revolution.
Many of Paine’s ideas impacted America as well as The Founding Fathers. Many of Paine's ideas when writing the Declaration of Independence. This declaration freed America of Great Britain. Had Paine not published “Common Sense”, this event could have unfolded differently. It could’ve taken America longer to become free, or possibly it may not have happened at all. Thanks to Paine, liberty and freedom was eventually accomplish. During this time, it was a perfect opportunity to suggest an chance for change. Paine's many contributions to politics changed America greatly.
It is rather difficult to understand why precisely Paine wrote “Common Sense” but it is also crucial to understand his beliefs on the relationship between society and government. I personally think it is important to note that this book at the time it was written would have appealed to the colonists that had any European background. With Paine’s focus on the present size of the colonies he is able to differentiate the reasons as to of why it is a good time to break free of Britain. Common sense has greatly helped in a range of affecting a great deal of people to start to enact in the change in government as well as society.
