In the article chasing the American dream by mark Robert Bank and etal the authors are discussing the sacrifices and the effort that the first generation of immigrants put to achieve the American dream. For them America was the land of opportunities, equality, and freedom. People moved to America from different countries because they wanted freedom and equality for everyone no matter from what race, nationality they are. For the immigrants it was not just about material it was more about having hope that the conditions would change to the best. Immigrants had big hope and they were very optimism about America. They work very hard to achieve the American dream which was that they can be able to fed their children and create more jobs with decent pay.
